Please note: I received a free ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of Of Silver and Curses in exchange for an honest review.
Of Silver and Curses is the first book I've ever read with a non-binary MC, and I was really curious to see how they would be portrayed. I wasn't disappointed; Talon was wonderful. I loved how Maddox wrote them, and Talon was a delight. I loved how the world dealt with gender in a beautifully varied way that felt so natural and just accepting of everyone's individuality.
The world-building itself was wonderful, feeling original and different. I liked the history that was built up, and the differences between kingdoms and people. It felt like a real world, and the way it was described was beautifully written. Excessive descriptions which feel forced are a particular issue for me, and it never felt close to that. It just gradually filled in the background and world in an intriguing and beautiful way. The relationship between Scythe and Talon was particularly captivating. Their connection felt incredibly real and palpable, building with a steamy intensity that was both exciting and utterly enthralling. The undeniable draw between them was a joy to read, truly anchoring the emotional core of the narrative.
The story itself was relatable and real, unfolding with great twists and turns that genuinely surprised me at every corner. Combined with a cast of interesting side characters who each felt distinct and purposeful, the plot kept me utterly gripped. I literally couldn't put it down and genuinely needed to know how it ended. The conclusion was simply perfect, wrapping everything up in a way that felt incredibly satisfying and true to the journey I'd just experienced.

Thank you so much to the author/publisher for sending me and e-arc of this book. Unfortunately, this just wasn’t for me and that’s okay! This gave more of an erotica/cozy fantasy. It didn’t feel high stakes, there was more spice than plot, so with that being said this is for a certain reader I just prefer a little more world building with my romantasy, and less insta-lust. But I can see how other readers might enjoy it, bc it is a simple to understand fantasy world but it just wasn’t my thing.

I loved this book so much and it was easily one of my favorite books I've read this year. I loved the main characters Talon and Scythe and I haven't been able to stop thinking about them since I finished the book. Their banter made me cackle and their desire made my toes curl. I loved how ruthless they were with their enemies and how fiercely they protected those they love. I loved the representation of a nonbinary main character, which is almost never seen in fantasy romance. I loved the spicy scenes for obvious reasons (maybe I also have a crown kink?). My only criticism is that this is a standalone book because I want an entire series of these two. Thank you to Maddox Grey and Victory Editing for the ARC!

A bad a$s witch, a cursed werewolf, and a one night stand gone wrong. This is the perfect set up for a high tension, banter filled, standalone fantasy romance.
Scythe is a witch, and the last one at that, tasked at guarding The Witches Woods and the path to The Wilds. Her people have left her and her mate abandoned her. The only one to stay is her younger sister and now she’s gone missing!
Talon is a werewolf, cursed to not be able to shift by the witches, who travels with a performance act. Their parents were killed at a young age and they have been left to care for their younger sister who has also gone missing with Scythe’s sister.
Despite the animosity between witches and wolves, Talon teams up with Scythe to find their sisters. The catch, they have already met before, a few years prior, when they had a hot and steamy night that did not have a pleasant end.
The tension between Scythe and Talon throughout the book is absolutley perfect. These two have an instant pull to one another other and I loved watching them slowly trust each other and break through the barriers
I really enjoyed the premise of the overall storyline and hope to see some of these characters again in their own standalone!
If you’re looking for a standalone fantasy romance then look no further!!
Thank you NetGalley for the early reader copy!!!

I liked the non-binary representation in this book. That’s something I personally haven’t seen a lot in fantasy books, and would love to see more. Both main characters were interesting and I enjoyed the banter between them. They also had great chemistry.
The magic system seemed really interesting and I would love to learn more about it.
The thing I struggled a bit with was pacing. At times I felt like nothing was happening, and sometimes (especially towards the end) there was almost too much going on and things felt rushed.

Thank you to Maddox Grey and Victory Editing for allowing me to get a chance to read this book, I am honoured.
I read this book about a week ago. My immediate rating was 5 stars, and that stays true after a week of it being on my mind non-stop.
I picked it up and never put it down till I was done.
Talon and Scythe are amazing main characters and this story was so beautiful and fun, it was one of my first experiences reading a non-binary character and as someone who personally struggled with their sexuality identity I really resonated with them.
I loved the magic world that Maddox created, with fae, witches, wolves and more living in a magic-outlawed medieval society. It is an amazing book and with such a witty, action packed, smutty, romantic fantasy plot.
The only downside was that the world building was very fast, so be prepared to pay attention.

I've read Of Silver and Curses by Maddox Grey, gifted by Netgalley and Greymalkin Press as an arc in exchange for an honest review.
The story is about Scythe, the last Witch of the Woods. Her sister Astria is in love with Ravyn, the sister of Talon, a cursed wolf. Astria leaves her sister behind but after a while Talon finds out that Astria and Ravyn are gone. They are going to search them and they will get the help of Scythe to find their sisters.
It's a wonderful fantastic story where all characters are morally grey and they don't mind killing other people, filthy language and the spice is very detailed.
For me it deserves a 5 star rating and I can't wait to get a physical copy of this book.

🌟Spoiler free🌟
Of Silver and Curses by Maddox Grey was a joy to read. It's about witches and werewolves, (non- binary werewolves!) It was a perfect mix of character and story development. I loved how the magic was connected to music and animals! It is written in dual POV. Both main characters are morally grey and the banter and spice between them is great!
Tropes:
❤️Stand alone
❤️No cliffhanger
❤️Found family
❤️Sarcasm
🌶🌶SPICE
❤️Morally very characters
❤️Non-binary representation
I gave this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to the author and netgalley for the chance to read this book.

I really enjoyed this book! I was definitely cheering for Tal and Scythe.
Scythe feels that she has been abandoned by everyone - her people, her mate, and now her sister, the only family she has left. She is determined that the only thing she needs is her forest even if she can’t keep her mind off the cursed werewolf, Tal, who also happens to be the sibling of the woman who stole her sister’s heart. When Tal arrives back in her forest with the news that both their sisters have vanished, Scythe has to leave her comfort zone and work with Tal to find and rescue both women. The only question is whether they will be able to trust each other and ignore their attraction.
I loved the banter in this book. Tal and Scythe were so quick-witted and smart. I liked how they had to rely on each other at various points throughout their journey and how they could recognize that they each had their own strengths. I’m so curious for the stories of some of the side characters especially Ryllae and Caspian. I cannot wait to read more about them!

I got an ARC of this title and made it to about 38% before deciding to DNF. While the premise was promising, the pacing/characters/writing style didn’t quite work for me personally. I really appreciate the opportunity to read it early, and I’m sure it’ll find the right readers—it just wasn’t for me.

When I picked this up , I didn’t thought that it would have THIS MUCH spiceand that too in the begging and this is the sole reason for why I am dnfing it. Although I completely understand why people love this book , I didn’t knew it wasn’t for YA I’m not familiar enough with this genre. But if you like to read Drake Romantasy genre then you might like this book!

This is an excellent welcome to new series. This book features two powerful individuals brought together by attraction, fate, and a little divine intervention. The story has excellent non-binary representation in Talon and a beautiful found family in their traveling performance troupe. The world crafted around Talon and our FMC Scythe is full of twists and turns with both mortal and immortal plots and schemes. Read this for great banter, steamy scenes with magical moments, and a great cast of fleshed out main and supporting characters.

This was a really enjoyable first book in a series of interconnected standalones. I'm already looking forward to the next one!
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book but I really enjoyed the characters, the banter, the inclusiveness and the magic!
The FMC Scythe is a witch and she is badass. I loved how fiercely protective she was but also she felt lonely and this brought out the emotions in her character.
Our other main character Talon is non-binary and let me tell you they come across as hot as hell. There's nothing better than a character who is gorgeous and they know it! Again, similar to the FMC they are fiercely protective.
The banter was flowing between these two. They both struggle with their feelings towards each other at the start but put differences aside to go on this quest to save their sisters who are in a relationship together. There was a perfect blend of spice and plot. There's found family and we meet characters who I hope we see more of in future books! The spice scenes hit at the right moments because the chemistry between these two is fantastic.
The side characters are so interesting. There's found family vibes and one character in particular, Ryllae, is so intriguing I am hoping that one of the books (i hope the next one) focuses on them! All the characters bring a mix of humour. There's so much banter and sarcasm flying about it had me giggling throughout the book.
"Other people might think Ryllae is evil because of their magic, but I personally think it's because they're a morning person."
The magic system in this story is so unique and I loved that Scythes magic is linked to music and nature. This leads to us having animals included in the story. Talon's curse is painful for them and we see their struggles with this. We meet gods along the way and how their reluctance to stay out of the issues in this realm has led to trouble.
Let's just give a big shout out to the author who as a queer non-binary person has really created a beautiful world with non binary representation and this is rare in fantasy! I loved that we had characters correct other characters on pronouns, there's a history of how Talon discovered they were non binary, how people in this world recognise non binary people and also the author describes different kinds of non binary characters (Talon is more masc leaning and Ryllae is more androgynous).
I had a great time reading this story and I can't wait for the next instalment in this series. I have my hopes on who it will focus on but to be honest I'll be happy with it being about any of the characters from this book!
Thank you to Victory Editing, the author and NetGalley for the arc. This is my own honest review of this book.

this was such a fun read! im obsessed with a violent unhinged fmc and our nonbinary mc/love interest was equally unhinged and sexy. this level of violence only really works in fantasy books and this book really went for it. like duh we're in a magical world fighting for our lives why wouldn't everything be bloody? 3rd act wrapped up a little quick and this book pretty clearly sets up sequels focusing on other characters but does give a satisfying ending for our two main characters. they dont save the world, just each other and thats good enough for me!! thank you netgalley and the publisher for ARC access!

This was such a ride! Fast paced and packed with danger, romance, and longing, this was a really great read!

This magical fantasy adventure is a wild ride through a world brimming with witches, werewolves, fae, gods, and everything in between. It picks up momentum from the prequel novella and dives headfirst into the tense, electric dynamic between Cerelia, the last Witch in the Woods, and Talon, a cursed werewolf bound by a history of animosity.
The chemistry between Cerelia and Talon is undeniable—equal parts steamy and fraught with centuries-old baggage. Their forced alliance to find their missing sisters pushes them to confront their deepest fears and feelings. The banter and fiery tension between them is pure gold, making their slow-burn connection deeply satisfying.
The quest itself is packed with action, from thrilling chases to a masquerade ball brimming with intrigue. The supporting cast of unique characters and the rich world-building promise even more twists and turns in the next installment. With its morally grey heroes and addictive plot, this series is off to a spellbinding start. I can’t wait to see where it goes next!
