Three Girls Gone is a very thrilling and enjoyable read, and one that pulled me in right from the start. The story is well written and flows easily and the plot line is good and well thought out. I found it hard to put this book down, and kept wanting to know what would happen next. When a young girl is found murdered Steele and Stenson investigate and find themselves in a race against time when another girl is taken. The story takes place over a short space of time and is very fast paced with lots of tension, suspense and mystery. I loved the reappearance of an old character when Steele's investigation is linked to an old unsolved case. The ending is good even though I thought a bit unrealistic - surely the Police Dept wouldn't delay interviewing a murder suspect while waiting for their officer to be fit enough??? That's my only gripe though.
If you like solid police procedurals with likeable characters you just root for from the start then this is for you and I'd recommend it although I'd say read the series in order to get to know the characters from the beginning.
4 stars

Another great visit with Amanda Steele and Trent Stentson. This makes number 14 in the series and has the duo searching for a.missing child who has been taken by the same person who already murdered two others. Katherine Graves and Sgt Malone are prominent characters as the murderer seems to be playing a game .Back story is about Katherines life in New York and makes this case personal to her
I always enjoy this series and recommend it

Three Girls Gone by Carolyn Arnold. Book 14 is a great addition to the Detective Amanda Steele Series. A real page turner with Amanda struggling to managing her personal and professional life. Her relationship with Zoe is progressing while she and Trent are still struggling with their feelings for one another. The case is fast paced, gripping and intense which ends in a explosive conclusion.
Thank you to the author, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

Wow! I’m lost for words Carolyn as you’ve done it again, you had me glued to this ebook and I just couldn’t stop pretty sure one of my nights reading I didn’t stop until 4.30am 🙈.
I started reading these series in January 2024, and to be given the opportunity to read as an arc reader well I was jumping. I’ve read from Amanda Steele, to Brandon Fisher (I must ask is there any more for his series, cause I’m patiently waiting) to Madison Knight. Most recent series I’ve just started is Sandra Vos and well once again she has me hooked! I always have in my calendars when the next book will be released,
I must collect all her books in physical copy’s, this is so I can share them with my Nana as I know she will love these story’s as well.
Favourite moment would have to be that Amanda deserves something positive to happen in her life, and in chapter 25 well that happened! A fun filled food fight ending up with her daughter Zoe finally calling her Mum, yes this part did make me cry because Amanda has been through hell.
The story had me gripping, you sit there reading and it feels like you’re actually in the story imagining it in a dream. Descriptions detailing information is very clear, and there is a good amount of details to have the picture of what is happening.
During the investigations words that are used that a normal person (like myself) wouldn’t know, for example the medical examiners use of medical terms are explained brief but perfect to help understand.
The story is gripping, thrilling, mystery and so on. I recommend Carolyn’s collections to everybody and I’m forever telling my friends to read them and few have said yes we love them!
Another love about these series that Carolyn writes is that each book carry’s on after the other one left off, there is none of this one month/two month/one year later skipping in the books. This is one of the major things that help me to enjoy the series that she has written.
Thank you for the amazing support read once again Carolyn.
I’ve not yet done any public reviews as the email stated to wait until publication date, if this is incorrect please feel free to contact me regarding this.

Thanks to Carolyn and NetGalley for allowing me to read Three Girls Gone before the publication date.
This is the 14th book in the Detective Amanda Steele series.
The prologue is narrated by an unidentified predator who revels in having abducted a child and their plans to kill her. Carolyn has teased the reader by her choice of pronouns, leaving it unclear whether there is more than one predator.
The relationship between Amanda and Trent has shifted, both in their private and professional lives. Trent is now living with his girlfriend, Kelsey. This leaves Amanda struggling to put on a positive face about her feelings for Trent…does she really want a relationship with him, or does she just not want anyone else to have his attention?
With a 9 year old daughter, this case is too personal for Amanda and affects the way she carries out the investigation. This leads to her being tetchy and pulling rank on Trent.
As usual, Chief Buchanan, is focused on the public optics of the investigation whilst burnishing his Teflon shoulders. Sgt Malone is no longer protecting Amanda from Buchanan.
The atmosphere is edgy, tense and uncomfortable as Amanda continues to struggle to manage her professional and personal life.
Can the Steele and Stenson partnership survive this latest investigation?

A fast paced crime thriller that keeps you glued to the pages, piecing together clues to solve the case. I’m a sucker for these types of books.
It begins with retiree Katherine revisiting an unsolved crime while a child killer follows her every move even tormenting her with more child abductions. She helps the cops to solve the case.
This story has a satisfying ending.

What can I say - having read all the series to date I must say I was a little
disappointed in this latest offering
Homicide Detective Amanda Steele and her partner Trent are called to
a site where the body of a 6yr old girl has been found murdered .
The case is reminiscent of one from 12 years ago when another 6yr old
little girl was murdered in a similar way .
Amanda is finding the case very difficult , her emotions are all over the place .
When another young girl goes missing from her own bed the chase to find the killer
becomes almost overwhelming .
I found Amanda's decision making and attitude to not just the victim's relatives and
witnesses but also her colleagues unbelievable at times - how can someone supposedly
one of the best in the business be allowed to act in this way - dictating to all around
Her relationship with Trent has raised the green eyed monster in both of them at times ,
affecting their working relationship - where is this going ?
I think the most disturbing and unbelievable scenes, even for a fiction book , was that once
the murderer had been apprehended in the act of trying to kill his latest victim
(by Amanda herself , who he also tried to kill - nearly succeeding) he was not
interviewed and charged immediately . What police department would wait for the
Detective ( Amanda) to recover in hospital for a few days and then take the lead in his
interrogation , despite also being a victim of his actions herself - where were his lawyers
in all this ??
I hope that this is just a blip in what has been to date an enjoyable series .
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I am always so excited to see new books from Carolyn Arnold, and Three Girls Gone is another great addition to the Detective Amanda Steele series. I have read all the books in this series, and it's like visiting old friends. This new story is a page-turner from start to finish.
The haunting opening scene of a ballerina lying still on the carousel sets a chilling tone in addition to the suspense and raw emotion. Detective Amanda Steele is a strong protagonist who navigates the web of grief, suspicion, and danger as she investigates the tragic murder of Hailey Tanner. The author has a special talent for crafting complex characters, and the relationship dynamics between Amanda, Trent, her colleagues, and the victims' families are portrayed with an authentic touch that resonates deeply. I continue to adore Zoe! She's growing up before our eyes, and I hope to see more and more of her in upcoming books.
As Amanda delves deeper into the investigation, the threats against her and the sense of urgency escalate. The suspense builds, and just when I thought I had it figured out, the author drops unexpected twists that had my head spinning.
Three Girls Gone is a skillfully crafted, addictive thriller that blends suspense and emotion with pulse-pounding suspense and urgency. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for Amanda Steele and this series!
I would highly recommend this book, this series, and this author. The author's books are always a great read, filled with tension, suspense, great police procedurals, and amazing characters.

Absolutely LOVE this series.
Even though this is a sad story and may be hard for some to read I think Carolyn Arnold wrote another masterpiece.
The suspense will keep you up all night until you turn the last page.
Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Hailey Tanner disappears after her dance class. Her body is found in a park dressed in a pink tutu, taken from her bedroom.
The detectives, Amanda and Trent are reminded of another 'star' who was murdered twelve years ago.
This is another gripping read from Carolyn Arnold, the 14th in the series.
I love a strong female lead in a crime novel, and Amanda definitely is that. Strong and determined.
I inhaled this book in two sittings - after all, you have to sleep sometime!
Tense and emotional, the book will draw the reader in from page 1.

The girl in the ballerina dress lies still on the carousel with her face toward the blue sky. In her tutu and slippers, she’s ready for her next performance. But as the morning sun shines down upon her, she no longer feels its warmth on her cheeks. Her bright light is gone forever! Fantastic book and series! Wow! This was definitely a chilling nail biting thriller! It had chilling suspense, gruesome murders, mystery, intriguing, action, kidnapping, serial killers and some jaw dropping twists! The storyline was very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book and series! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

This book, written by a favorite author. Is mysterious and reflective. What happened? Who did it a? How could this happen? Amanda is back. This is a page turner. This is a cannot put down, until the last page is turned, mystery novel. The realistic characters make the story come alive. True crime? No. A whodunit….thanks Netgalley
