Another excellent book from Gillian that will knock you off your feet! "Turf Wars" is the second book in the series, following the first, which tells the Silvas' story – and what a fantastic story it is. The drama begins as soon as you pick up the book, making it impossible to put down. I felt as though a new narrative was unfolding and revealing itself with each page. It features plenty of violence, alongside a touch of humor. I am eagerly looking forward to the next installment. Well done, Gillian! This book deserves five stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I loved The Street which was the first book featuring the Silva family. Turf War is a continuation of that story.
There's never a dull moment let me tell you! The Silvas are one of those families that you'll love to hate!
The story was so easy to lose myself in, and was one that I could easily imagine playing out in certain areas near where I live.
It's a gripping read, full of grit and gruff.

I love this series......
When Alex gets let out of jail for a week to help his family out. Deanna his daughter has been kidnapped, relating to the drug dealing she had been doing with her brother. Who would want to kidnap her?? Have they alterior motives? This is fast paced, and a fantastic read.. I couldnt turn the pages fast enough., to see what would happen next.. But is that the end the their story? .........

I should start by saying that I have read the previous books in the life of the Silva family but if you haven't then you will still thoroughly enjoy the latest offering from Gillian Godden.
5 stars!

Turf War By Gillian Godden -
Alex Silva has done his time. Now, he just wants a fresh start.
After years behind bars, Alex is finally free and determined to go straight. No more trouble, no more deals—just a clean slate for him and his family and a legit life running his old pub. But the streets don’t forget, and neither do old enemies.
Coming home isn’t the reunion he hoped for. With his daughter Deana missing, Alex discovers the kids have dragged the wrong kind of trouble to his doorstep. A turf war is brewing and for the first time in his life, Alex is on the losing side.
Now Alex has a choice: stand by and watch everything fall apart, or go back to the men he betrayed—the ones who won’t let him walk away twice.
Either way, his new life might be over before it even begins…
Carries on from the last book, when Alex had to make a difficult decision, which meant him being sentenced.to jail. This book starts with Alex getting home. He can’t wait to see his family BUT his children have been busy causing chaos in the area. Sounds like Alex has his hands full!!
Another great read from Gillian! Thank you for allowing me to read this ARC.

Fantastic to catch up with the Silva family following the pickle that the teenage children got themselves into! Really easy to read and the characters feel very authentic even if the plot seems a bit far fetched at times. Loking forward to another instalment.

I really enjoyed this book, I haven’t read the previous books, so this works well as a standalone. I liked the characters so much, that I have download the first two books, so I can start the series from the start (currently on kindle unlimited).
I loved that this starts of with Alex being thrown straight out of prison into the middle of family drama. His family seems to be very dramatic (cannot wait for their full back stories)
The dynamics between the characters are intense and gritty, whilst I was keen on Donna, Johnny or Paul, I adored Alex and Dante and loved their banter in between the drama.
This is a must for gangland thriller lovers.

Really enjoyed this book. Full of fast paced twists and turns. Couldnt put it down at all. First read by this author wont be the last!

I have waited to reflect before I wrote this review to see if I felt better about it with time.
I find myself out of step with the other reviewers of this book. The plot is quite unrealistic. I have issue with the main protagonists and their totally unrealistic behaviours. Their daughter is kidnapped by persons unknow, is her life in danger? So what do they do – a night of passionate sex – totally unbelievable!
I also don’t like some of the language used to describe the female protagonists. I thought we had moved on from describing female attributes as “having pert breasts”.

🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is my first book in the Turf Wars series, but it won’t be my last! This book has nonstop action and interesting characters. Alex Silva is out of jail and ready to start over. But his daughter gets kidnapped and he’s sucked back into the turf wars.
This book will keep you turning the pages! Many thanks to the author, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

The Silas are back. Alex is a free man serving his prison sentence and all he wants is a quiet easy life but his family have been busy whilst he’s been away.
A turf war is emerging and Alex feels like this time he’s on the losing side with no more mafia connections, can he work this out or go back to a place he fought hard to stay away from.
Brilliant book loving this series.

This was my first read by this author and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. It was fast paced and the characters were good. I love a lot of twists and turns and it didn't disappoint.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this arc.

Alex Silva is out of prison, his daughter Deana has been abducted, Deana and her brother Dante have gotten themselves involved with the wrong people. Now, Alex fears a turf war with local drug lords and to get Deanna safely home.
The characters are well-developed, but I wouldn't want to meet Bernie under any circumstances. We get humour, twists, and suspense that builds throughout this book.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #GillenGodden for my ARC of #TurfWar in exchange for an honest review.

Another absolutely brilliant book from Gillian Godden with this the next gritty instalment in the gangland family series that focuses on the Silva family. Following on from the previous books, which I’d highly recommend reading, Alex Silva has done his time and is now home determined to go straight. However whilst he was inside his two children, Dante and Deana, have been doing their own kind of business and now Deana has been kidnapped. With a turf war brewing Alex needs to reconnect with those from his past but who can he really trust and will the Siva family come out of it all unscathed? This is gritty gangland writing at its best with intrigue, menace, drama, family dynamics and with each character having so much depth. There’s no way of knowing how this will turn out and kept me totally hooked from the first page. Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC

This book was easy to read and although a good story it left me wanting more action! Was a bit pushed to finish this book and found parts a little stodgy and in others Maggie and Alex didn't seem as upset regarding Deana! Not the best read by this author, sorry.
Many thanx to NetGalley, the author and publishers for allowing me to read and review this book

I have read other books by this author and really enjoyed them. This is the first of this series that I have read and it read well as a standalone as well as part of a series.
The author has continues in her great style of writing gangland crime books with strong male and female characters, and telling the story as it is without glossing over anything. It was a good read and any gangland crime fiction fan should give it a try.
Many thanks to Boldwood Books, NetGalley, and the author for providing me with an advanced electronic copy of the book in return for an honest and unbiased review.
The book will be released on the 9th July in all the usual formats

If you like your gangland thrillers, this is definitely one for you. Alex Silva, newly released from prison, is trying to keep out of trouble but it has a way of finding him. I liked the characters and the plotting, although I felt it just lacked a bit of intensity. There was humour and good banter in parts, which I quite enjoyed and Alex's two children must drive him mad with their exploits! A very enjoyable read again from the author. and I would recommend it to lovers of the genre. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

We return to the life of The Silva's and now Alex is out of prison to find that his daughter Deana has been kidnapped. Deana and her brother have dug themselves deep into the drug world and brought some trouble to the family. The story is full of the usual gangland wars and blood shed with humour interspersed with witty banter. I felt the blood rush to my head and The Silva's are one of my favourite gangland families. I hope there is going to be more on this family.
