*Spoilers Ahead*

What I loved:
I love me a good smart mouthed FMC. And one who fights her destiny? Yep.
Truly I had no idea what I was going into. So when the paranormal started to show up, I was definitely excited.

What I did not love:
The FMC was a little dumb at times… especially when it came to her bond.

A sharp, fast-paced paranormal romance that mixes intrigue, family secrets, and sizzling chemistry. Winter is thrown into a world of power plays and hidden truths, and the way she handles it all, while navigating an intense romance, makes for such an engaging read.

I loved how the book balances tension and romance. The relationship is steamy, also tangled in lies and revelations that keep you guessing. Whenever I thought I knew where things were going, another secret or twist would pull me back in.

Some moments felt a bit over the top, but that was part of the fun; it has that soapy, dramatic vibe that keeps the pages flying. If you like romances layered with suspense, scandal, and characters who spark off the page, The Reveal delivers.

This one was just okay for me. The premise was intriguing and there were definitely moments that kept me turning the pages, but overall, I had a hard time fully connecting with the characters. The pacing felt a bit uneven in places, and while the story wrapped up well, it didn’t leave a big impact.
If you enjoy Megan Crane’s writing or are looking for a quick, dramatic read, this might still be worth picking up—it just didn’t completely work for me.

“Maybe monsters aren’t the only thing that’s been revealed in these last few years. Maybe the truth about the Reveal is that it’s a mirror, where we see who we really are.”

I’m honestly a little conflicted about how to sum up this book, because it was such a ride—fun, emotional, and so much more action-packed than I expected.

The story drops us into a brutal new world after the Reveal, when monsters came out of the shadows and humans had to learn to coexist with werewolves, zombies, and vampires. Winter Bishop has been doing her best to just survive, until she gets summoned by Ariel Skinner—the infuriatingly charismatic vampire king—who holds her brother’s fate in his hands.

Winter is such a badass, but not because she was born that way—she was forced into it. I loved watching her balance that ferocity with moments of vulnerability and softness. And Ariel… yeah, he’s hot. I didn’t totally love how their early encounters felt more like transactions than intimacy (😭), but once we got to see his warmer and more protective side, I was hooked.

The side characters delivered in a big way too—Maddox, Ty, Gran, Auggie, Savi—they each added so much life and fun. I’m hoping we get more of their POVs in future books.

And the plot? Absolute chaos in the best possible sense. We go from zombies in the trash to a high-stakes, emotional action sequence that left me reeling. Total whiplash, but the kind that kept me glued to the page.

4.5
This is post-apocalyptic due to the “Reveal” of Monsters in our world and their takeover. Winter decides that in order to keep her home and her grandmother alive and safe, they need tenants to help, don’t worry, they are living on on-property buildings, not in the house. Turns out, the only people looking for a place to live are monsters, though. And Winter may not have the status in the world that she thinks she does.
I really liked the story, a LOT, but I do agree with other reviewers that I wish there were more of Ariel and their relationship. I just don’t get anything from that other than lust. There was pretty much no interaction to provide the chemistry needed to make it believable. I can’t wait for the sequel, though, to see what develops from these characters, especially the ones we don’t know much about! Thank you NetGalley, and Megan for the advanced copy!

When the world turns to chaos and you’re left to take care of your cars reading grandma, while trying to keep your house…you have to outsource and allow a werewolf and some odd folks to rent from you.
Add in a summons from a (hot) vampire lord who asks (?) for some help to keep the world from imploding more…and you get a whirlwind of chaos, romance, world building and action

This was the first post apocalyptic world I really enjoyed. It was engaging and dark. This is one of those fantasy, apocalyptic and romantic books wrapped into one. The relationship between Winter & Ariel was enjoyable but felt it need something more. I LOVED Maddox, for being a side character, they were really wrapped around my finger. The book does end on a cliffhanger and really draws me into wanting to read the next one, now we wait!

Thank you NetGalley & Megan Crane for this book!

Paranormal Romance
Romantasy
Slow paced

I enjoyed the plot and the world building and so far we are getting to know more about the main characters which I’m loving, this first book its slow paced but I like that since we need the context and back story of what’s happening and why, I still have question tho but I’m guessing and hoping that the next book will have more action and we get those answers, so far I liked the story and I can’t wait for the next book

If you like paranormal, fantasy and romance this book it’s for you

The book was a mixed bag for me. The pacing felt uneven, with some parts dragging and others moving too quickly. Winter was an okay lead, but the romantic connection with Ariel felt underdeveloped, and I honestly get more of an emotional bond between her and Maddox since they had actual non-cryptic conversations. Think more could have been done to develop that side of things and Ariel’s personality alongside the physical which would have made actions and revelations at the end resonate more. Overall okay and is enough there for me to want to read the next one. 3 ⭐️

This was a great start to the series. I’m super intrigued where the author is going to take it next. I enjoyed the wide cast of characters and I could totally envision what this small town would be like after an event such as the reveal. I also can’t wait to see Winter grow as an oracle. I’m not fully sold on her and Ariel but I was getting there at the end. Maddox and Ty are interesting and at this point, I would love to see a book focusing on them. But then there’s Savi and I want her story too. This was a unique read and one I’m glad I dove into. I hope the next book comes soon!

What a read! Enthralling from the first page to the last. I really liked the plot and the magic system and I think it was very well-written. Need more!

The Reveal is a fantasy romance set in Oregon. It is a post apocalyptic world where paranormals were revealed to the world. Our FMC Winter struggles to care for her frail card reading grandmother as the rest of her family has left her. She ends up taking in three new tenants (a werewolf and two other paranormals). Winter gets summoned to meet the vampire king (Ariel) and an evil goddess out to destroy the world.
Overall I did enjoy this book. I enjoyed the world building in this book. It felt different, original and dark.
Something that I haven't really read before. While I enjoyed the romance between Winter and Ariel, I wish there was more build up to it. I wanted more growth.
The plot kept me engaged with the story and I enjoyed the side characters a lot too. I really hope they get their own story too or at least Maddox does. Love her.
The story ends on a little bit of a cliffhanger which has me eager for book two.
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was… fine. I didn’t hate it, but it didn’t blow me away either.

The setup was interesting enough — a dark, gritty romance with secrets waiting to come out. There were moments where the tension hooked me, and the writing style itself wasn’t bad. I could see where the story wanted to go, but it didn’t always land for me.

The main issue was that the characters felt a little flat. The FMC had potential, but I wanted more depth to her struggles, and the MMC… other than being tall, broody, and apparently irresistible, I couldn’t tell you much about him. The plot itself was predictable, and while there was some steam, it felt more repetitive than exciting.

Overall, a decent read if you’re looking for something quick and dramatic, but not one that will stick with me long-term. Solid 3 stars.

The Reveal by Megan Crane is written in solo first person POV.

This is the first in a series. The paranormal romance is definitely vibing. This is a post-apocalyptic world where the monsters have taken to leading, so leaning towards dystopian. Humans are at risk, and I love this take. Winter and Ariel are an unlikely coupling, but watching them fight against their desires was so entertaining.

This book pulled me in straight away. The world felt dark, different, and a bit chaotic, but I loved how Winter and Gran handled it all. Gran was honestly my favourite—so calm and clever, she really grounded the story. Winter was super interesting too, and I’m keen to see how she grows in the next book.

The pacing was quick, which kept me hooked, and I really liked the atmosphere and the side characters. My only little wish would’ve been a stronger emotional connection between the two main characters, but it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed it.

Overall, I’d give it 4 stars. Big thanks to Megan Crane, Montlake, and NetGalley for letting me read this early—I’m so glad I did and I can’t wait for the next one!

What a ride! This book hooked me from the very first page and refused to let go. The world-building is immersive, full of danger, supernatural politics, and mystery. Winter is a heroine you root for: stubborn, vulnerable, and fiercely loyal. And Ariel? Dark, magnetic, and impossible to ignore. Their chemistry crackles.

The pacing kept me reading late into the night, balancing action, romance, and emotional stakes. It feels like the perfect blend of post-apocalyptic grit and paranormal allure, with werewolves, vampires, and zombies all woven into a story that never loses sight of its heart.

And the cover? Absolute perfection. I would love to see a special edition from somewhere like FairyLoot, the kind you display proudly on your shelf.

I picked up this book and it really grabbed me from the start. The world felt original and dark, full of monsters and survival, and I liked the way Winter and Gran navigated it all. Gran was amazing, so smart and calm, and she made the story feel grounded while everything else was chaotic. Winter was very interesting too. The pacing was fast, which kept me hooked. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the creativity of the world, and the side characters, and I am curious to see how Winter grows in the next book. Overall, a solid 4 stars. Thank you so much to the author, Montlake, and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving a honest review

I was really intrigued by the premise of The Reveal by Megan Crane. After monsters come out of hiding, humans must adapt and survive with the new world order. Winter, our FMC, is resourceful, tough, and suddenly entangled with a vampire king. Sounds great… but the story never really goes anywhere.
The romance felt forced (insta-lust/love), the actual conflict took too long to show up, and when it did, it was over in a blink. Great world building, but the pacing and plot left me wanting more. The story ends on a cliff hanger setting up a second book but I’m not really dying to see what happens next.

Pick this book up if you’re looking for something different but don’t expect anything groundbreaking.
