Review: This was a pretty good yarn. A bit confusing at times what with the constant leaps from one inner reality to another. That portion made no sense and seemed like story line filler as it added nothing to any outcome. I liked the broad array of characters and the magic although the fight scenes were lengthy and way OTT. There is kind of a love tribangle but it never goes farther than Eron's mind.
This needed to be dialed way back in a few areas. The lengthy inner ruminations of Eron just run on and on. We get it. He is conflicted. He wants justice. He misses Daddy and Emma. He must prevail in every instance. This all or nothing approach left me not rooting for him as you get it early on that he is written to win. Eron lacked in depth as his responses remained the same after pivotal events. There was no discernable growth in perspective when coupled with lengthy movement. He just stays Eron with a better skill set.
This may build to a better series.

This is an excellent coming of age story with a lost heritage trope that really blindsides you. The author does an amazing job of foreshadowing while creating wonderfully interesting characters. The world-building is very well done, too. The pace was just right for me.
This was a five star read. It kept me engaged and did not leave me feeling like something was either under or over done. Kudos and my thanks to the author for this fine work.
