Alex moves into a tense shared house, determined to uncover the truth about his missing friend, Nikki. With secrets lurking, he won’t leave until he knows if she’s alive—or if something far darker has happened.
I have mixed feelings about this book, to be honest! The plot was engaging (eventually), and the writing was easy to get into. However, I didn’t love any of the characters—they all felt a bit hard to connect with, which made it harder to fully invest in their stories. I must say, I found the relationship between Alex and Nikki a bit strange from the outset. Although they weren’t blood-related, there were moments that felt a little creepy to me, given that they had lived together as brother and sister for many years. It didn’t completely take away from the story, but it definitely made me feel uncomfortable.
All in all, it was an enjoyable read. While it wouldn’t top my favourites list, it’s still definitely worth checking out if you’re into mystery and suspense!

A good read which held my interest throughout and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am not always keen on different timelines but this worked for me.
The characters were interesting and it was a bit creepy in parts. On the whole I enjoyed this storyline and I would recommend it.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC.

This book tells the story of Alex and alternates between present day and the past, 22 years ago. Reading about Alex's childhood really tugged at my heartstrings. His upbringing was definitely rough.
This was an easy read, and it totally held my attention. I loved the storyline, but have to say the ending was pretty predictable. Even though it was predictable, the heartbreaking tale totally made it worth my time. If I ever need someone to save me, I could only hope to be lucky enough to have someone like Alex in my life.

Thank you Netgalley, Diane Saxon and Boldwood books for the eArc of Cuckoo in the Nest.
Cuckoo in the Nest is a medium paced psychological thriller which is both engaging and a page turner. Told from a duel POV, past and present, we have our two main characters, Nikki and Alex. Alex is a really interesting character and has been dealt a hard life when he was younger. Dealing with his Fathers alcohol problem and befriending Nikki at a play park when he was ten, sets a different path for the future.
In the present, Alex has to houseshare after coming back to the UK and it quickly becomes apparent that the reason for this particular house is that this was the last place that Nikki was seen until she disappeared a few weeks before. The characters within this shared house are very dislikable and you do find yourself rooting for Alex and wanting to find out about what happened to Nikki. There are some great twists and turns forming a solid direction for the plot line and the finale is a bit of a shocker. I wouldn't say this book is an emotive read but I can guarantee that you will go through a range of emotions reading it!
As always, a brilliant thriller from Diane Saxon

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books. One house, four tenants, one deadly secret.
Alex makes himself the number four tenancy addition signing on the dotted lines, he is here for a purpose to find Nikki, this is a big mission to be accomplish.
Wow and its a big one, unputdownable thriller.
Creepy and twisty to the end.

Creepy, tense, and totally addictive! I couldn’t stop turning the pages. Loved the unsettling atmosphere and slow build of suspense—Diane Saxon nailed it again.

Thank you to boldwook books and and NetGalley for this arc!
I thought the author provided us with a very well written book with very developed characters. I didn’t want to put it down and it certainly made me never want to have roommates ever.

This story had me hooked right from the beginning. I enjoyed watching all the characters develop. The suspense was great and I really enjoyed the ending. Alex was amazing. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

I found the idea of this book quite interesting and couldn’t wait to find out what was going on . I lost a bit of interest in the middle of the book and found it a bit slow . The ending was quite good but I’m afraid I’d guessed who was behind it all . I’d still give this book 4 stars

I wasn't a massive fan of the style of writing, I found it very hard to get into the book and feel like I cared enough to want to know what happened. The past and present felt completely different. Just a bit slow, but the ending was better.

What has happened to Alex's friend Nikki? Where could she be? Is she even sill alive? These are the questions I was begging for answers for in this book. The author does a great job with transitioning smoothly between the past of Alex and Nikki to present day. She does an even better job of tying up any loose ends at the end of the novel and answering all of my questions. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Filled with suspense, mystery. thrills, and tension, this dark secrets novel will have you turn the pages as quickly as you can. An absolute MUST READ.
Thank You NetGalley, Boldwood Books, and Diane Saxon for the eArc.
4.5 Stars!!!!

Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC of this book.
Absolutely loved this book. The relationship between Alex and Nikki that grew was fantastic. Diane is right that family is more than blood it is a bond and in this case not only Nikki considered Alex her brother Julia considered him her son.
So glad that we got the happy ending that they both deserved.

Another absolutely gripping thriller. Love the way Diane writes. Definitely did not expect things to go the way they did.

I really enjoyed this book, it had a combination of suspense, heartbreak, survival and a sense of love and acceptance. From the first chapter I was rooting for Alex who despite not having a great start , he was determined that wouldn't stop him from finding the truth and not being a victim. I normally don't like mentioning the ending of any book but this one was perfect.

Ths was so good!
Really interesting.
Poor Alex. His childhood was awful.
It was good he had Julia and Nicki .
I was surprised with the direction it went, though not original I wasn't expecting it .
There was a part I swore the landlord was pretending to being Rachel but I'm not sure.
I really thought this was a fantastic thrilling read and kept you guessing.

Creepy mystery with some even creepier characters! I suspected all of the roommates, but never figured it who did it.

Qow qhat a crazy wild ride, never giving up. Loved everything about this book. I couldn't put it down. The ending was beautiful.
Thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an early release of this book.

This book was so creepy, i honestly didn't know what was happening and if i was in that situation i wouldn't either, it was so good.
Following Alex, he moves into a house share with three other people but there is a reason he has moved in here and it's to find out what happened to his ' sister ' Nikki who lived here and one day just disappeared with no trace of her yet. Alex is determined to find out what happened and to bring her home but first find out what is going on in this house share. The three other tenants all were strange in their own ways like they were keeping secrets.. i honestly didn't trust any of them and i felt the creepiness and tense atmosphere that i definitely couldn't wait to find out what was going on.
Cuckoo in the nest is told in mainly Alex's POV in the present and also in the past as we learn what his childhood was like and how he came to know Nikki and her mum which i really loved the relationship between the three and also we get the POV of Nikki from her time living in the houseshare and it shows how creeped out she was living there and was planning on leaving.
Overall i really enjoyed this book, it was full of suspense, mystery and just overall felt creepy and unsettling especially with the roommates and the house and not knowing. Definitely would recommend and thank you to NetGalley, the publishers Boldwood Books for the copy of this arc in exchange of my full honest review.
