I wish Shari's books were twice as long. This is one of her 24 hr books. Jessie who owns a hairdressers working alongside her daughter is retiring today and moving to Tenerife with her husband Stan. She is having a birthday/farewell party in the cafe across the road and it's all hands and family on deck.

I've no idea how Shari manages to get a whole story into 24 hr but she does and makes it interesting and page turning.
We have read about a few of the characters in other books and it's also nice reading about familiar faces. Most people in this book are known to each other. They've either lived in the same village all their lives or are connected through family .
There are a couple of people who turn up unconnected to the others.
I love that the majority of Shari's books are set in Glasgow or just outside as everywhere is familiar to me and brings back memories as I'm a Glasgow girl.
I'm not giving the plot away but what party that includes family ever runs smoothly?

Shari has done it yet again with brilliant binge worthy book. I’m loved this and read in one day! This book takes place over one snowy day; and the main story is that it’s Jessie and Stans last day in the UK before retiring to Tenerife. But as always there are several
sub stories that add to the main one. Theres a will reading; an amazing job offer; a potential cafe closure all of which add to the main plot; adding in some characters from other books that we know and the fact that Jessie doesn’t really want to relocate….. yet another fabulous read which I really loved.

Fun romance novel. The first I have read by this author but certainly not the last.

In One Snowy Day we meet Jessie on a triple whammy day, her birthday, her retirement and her leaving party. She is set to jet off for a new life in the sun with her husband Stan but is she prepared to leave behind the community that she has been a part of all her life.

Fabulous characters and I really enjoyed catching up with some old friends as well. This will be the perfect book for snuggling under a blanket and revelling in when the nights start drawing in.

First of all, I love the book cover. I am a reader that is drawn to a book by its cover and this one is beautiful! I have not read anything by this author, Shari Low previously but was very intrigued that the story would be of several characters’ lives for one day. From viewing her books, it appears that she has written other stories in this style. I definitely will be checking them out. I enjoyed this style of so much happening in a short time.

I liked getting to know the characters and was totally immersed in the story from the beginning. I read this book fairly quickly (for me), in two days. I was lucky to have the time available and was so interested in the plot that I was happy to just read.

I definitely recommend this book. It was a nice escape from real life. Although there are issues that the characters have to deal with, it was not overwhelming (to a reader), and I knew since this is a romance story, all would be well in the end.

“Isn’t it way too early to be reading a Christmas book, Carrie?” Yes. Yes, it is (even for me). BUT this isn’t really Christmassy – it’s set on December 1st on a snowy day but there are only minimal mentions of Christmas so you could absolutely read and enjoy this at any time of year!

This is the first book by Shari Low that I’ve read – my attention was caught by it being described as ‘for fans of Beth Moran’, and I thought I will give this a go! I can really see the comparison – One Snowy Day has that similar cosy, heart-warming community vibe, with really well-developed characters to fall in love with, and real-life issues that they’re battling.

It was such a breath of fresh air – after reading so many thrillers and crime books lately, it was just what I needed! A gorgeous, happy, funny, feel-good story.

One Snowy Day is told from the point of view of 4 main characters – Georgie, Jessie, Alyssa, and Lachlan. It literally takes place over the course of one day, broken down into times of day, which worked so well, especially when we get to see the same scene from a different character's experience. And the ending…. Just perfection!

Jessie has just retired from her long career as a hairdresser and is leaving her village of Weirbridge in Scotland tomorrow for a new life with her husband in Tenerife. But can she really leave behind all her friends and family?

Meanwhile Alyssa has just received a letter to say that she has to vacate the property housing not only her beloved café but also her home!

Georgie has received the job offer of a lifetime – but it means 6 months in the US, and she doesn’t want to abandon her commitments at home.

And Lachlan has been avoiding spending time anywhere near Weirbridge but is forced to return to hear the reading of his dad’s will. He faces a big choice – go along with what his brother wants again, or take a leap of faith and do the right thing to help someone in need?

Its always a treat when a Shari Low book is published. This one is a double bonus as its set on my birthday.
In it we meet some new characters and some old favourites.

I loved it, just as I've loved all Shari's other books. It's a story of friendship forgiveness and love

This was my first book by Shari Low, and I enjoyed it. Set in a snowy village in December, the story explores relationships, unexpected opportunities, family secrets, and the importance of friendship. I found myself quickly drawn into the plot and held my interest throughout.

The characters were relatable and likeable, and I felt invested in their journeys. I especially liked that the entire story unfolds over the course of just 24 hours, which added a sense of momentum and intimacy.

It was a page-turner, and I finished the book feeling warm, uplifted, and just a little fuzzy inside. The perfect winter read. I received an ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Jessie can't wait to leave Weirbridge for Tenerife and leave behind the salon she's worked in for years. Georgie her daughter is supposed to be taking over the salon but then gets an offer to go to Los Angeles to work on a hit tv series. Loved this book

Review of ‘One Snowy Day’ by Shari Low, due to be published on 3 August 2025 by Boldwood Books.

The book follows the lives of four main characters, Jessie - wife, mother and newly retired hairdresser on her 65th birthday, her daughter Georgia - due to take over her mum’s salon whilst contemplating another offer, Alyssa - who runs the cafe across the road, and Lachlan - a builder who is in town for the Will reading of his late father.

Told over the course of one day, the story features characters old and new, and can be read as a standalone without any knowledge of Shari’s previous works.

A quick read, where you become invested in the outcomes of each character. A story of love and friendships, packed full of emotion.

Another great book by Shari Low and a recommended read.

It was fantastic to receive an advance copy of this latest novel by Shari Low and big thanks to net galley and the publisher. I am an avid reader of Shari’s books and I love that although they can operate as stand alone stories, she usually adds some of her well loved characters and locations so that we feel like we’re coming home to a friendly environment.
I like the format of setting the action over the course of one day and breaking down the action over the hours in that day. However I’m also happy that there is an epilogue to this story as I was keen to know how things turned out and I wasn’t disappointed,
Can’t wait for the next one!

A lovely read. Jessie was having a party to celebrate her birthday and retirement where she was planning a life in the sun with her husband Stan but things don't go as planned when she learns of a betrayal and aso a secret her daughter Georgie has been keeping from her. As the night progresses she also learns that Alyssa's cafe where her party is being held is also under threat so can she sort everything out and start her new life while also wanting to be with her friends who are all gathered together for her and it all plays out during one snowy night. A book you won't want to put down with love, friendships and relationship's at the heart of the story.

This is another great book from Shari Low featuring a group of people over the course of a day. This time we’re following Jessie who has just retired and is about to move abroad with her husband, their daughter Georgie who is taking over her mum’s hairdressing business right at the monent another opportunity comes her way, Alyssa who loves her business abut has just learnt it’s under threat and finally Lachlan who is reluctantly visiting Scotland for the day but can’t wait to leave. There’s a lot of other fabulous characters in amongst this but I’ve found as long as you can follow the events unfolding with the main characters throughout the day it’s pretty easy to keep track. There’s some good storylines with a mix of drama and a few cliffhangers throughout the hours the story is told over but most of all a ,it if warmth and humour which makes this the enjoyable and easy read it is.

Crazy that I'm reviewing a book with snow in the title, but here we are. I loved One Snowy Day by Shari Low. This is not the first book by her that I've read, nor will it be the last.

The story follows the residents of a small Scottish village during one eventful winter day. We follow four people whose days intersect to tell the story. I enjoyed the ins and outs of the characters lives as all make monumental life choices.

a story of four women who all must make a decision about their future. a quick read, I read in two afternoons.

Absolutely brilliant as always, never ever get tired of reading Shari’s stories!

Follow the stories of Alyssa, Lachlan, Georgie and Jessie across generations of trials and tribulations. I love the easy way Shari weaves these stories to the most magical ending. I have to say too any book where Val Murray pops in is a favourite to me!

As always devoured in less than a day with a cup of tea and biscuits which is just as well as it’s mainly set in a cafe! Can’t wait for the next Shari instalment!
