I loved this sweet village romance. So much angst. Emotions were well built and well written. It made me fall in love with the characters. I want to see more what Jackson has to offer.

A fantastic book, a first for me by Mary Sue and I will definitely be looking out for the other books in the series. I loved that the book didn’t get to rompy and allowed you to see more of Zoe and Josh’s relationship rather than focusing on their bedroom antics like a lot of these books do

Josh feels like he’s failing at keeping his family ranch afloat. He is open to ideas but he never expected his ex-girlfriend to come to the ranch and help him. Zoe finds herself kicked out of her apartment and in need of a place to live. When her best friend, Shannon, says there’s room at the ranch, Zoe takes her up on the offer. Josh and Zoe were together for one summer but after they went their separate ways, they never rekindled their relationship. Hard feelings, misunderstandings and miscommunication stand in the way of them finding their way back together. Will they figure it out or will they head their separate ways at the end of the summer again?
Josh isn’t thriving under the weight of all of his responsibilities. He wants the ranch to thrive because it is a family legacy but he can’t see a path out of the financial struggles. The author did a good job showing how much pressure Josh heaps on himself because he can’t consider not succeeding. Zoe wants to get an advanced degree to help her with her career. I don’t understand why she didn’t consider all of the options at first but the author made Zoe single minded on one program. Zoe is very good at her job. She probably isn’t a good fit fo ranch life but definitely finds a way to fit into the town. In the end, the relationship between Josh and Zoe didn’t feel like it has sticking power.
The “solution” to the ranch’s problems is a bit simple minded. The author opted for Zoe to be the savior with her ideas and new website. Also, Josh makes a decision at the end of the book that made me say no no no. I don’t believe that a person can change that drastically all at once. I won’t say what it is but I’d like an update in a year or two that shows how Josh and Zoe worked through the issues.
This story is a retelling of a story written by Leslie North. I read the original. The books are very similar. I prefer the original because I liked the beginning better. I think this story will appeal to a lot of people. It is a second chance, small town/ranch love story.

Josh never expected to see Zoe Wilson back on his ranch. She is smart, stubborn, and the girl who broke his teenage heart. When Zoe arrives to redesign the ranch’s outdated website, invited by his little sister, Josh is forced to keep things professional despite the sparks flying between them. With Zoe terrified of horses and planning to leave in two months, Josh knows resisting her is impossible. The tension between them burns hotter than a wildfire and he is determined not to lose her again no matter the cost. Zoe came back to fix a website not relive the past but the pull between them might just change everything they thought they knew about love loss and home.

Josh and Zoe’s second-chance love story is tender, believable, and deeply moving. Josh is the quintessential cowboy—gritty, loyal, and quietly burdened by past regrets. Zoe, in contrast, is on a journey of rediscovery, trying to reclaim her strength and sense of self after life threw her off course. When their paths cross again, it feels like fate—messy, complicated, and absolutely worth it.
The chemistry between them is electric, but it’s the emotional depth that truly sets this book apart. Their connection feels earned, rooted in shared history and personal growth. Add in a vivid small-town backdrop and Jackson’s signature cowboy grit, and this story becomes impossible to put down.
Undone is everything you could want in a cowboy romance—emotional, heartfelt, and packed with second-chance swoon. Mary Sue Jackson expertly blends small-town charm with raw vulnerability, delivering a story that pulls you in and won’t let go.

Undone is a delightful kickoff to Mary Sue Jackson’s Poplar Springs series, delivering everything fans of small-town romance crave—grumpy cowboys, stubborn heroines, and a love story that simmers with tension and heart.
Josh Cafferty, a rugged rancher trying to keep his family’s Montana ranch afloat, and Zoe Wilson, a savvy, city-based web designer who just happens to be his teenage heartbreak. When Zoe returns to Cafferty Ranch, invited by Josh’s sister to revamp the ranch’s website, sparks fly immediately. Josh is determined to keep things professional, but Zoe’s presence stirs up old feelings he thought were long buried. Zoe is equally determined to keep her distance. She’s terrified of horses, doesn't love small-town life, and has no intention of staying. But working side by side with Josh, she can't deny the chemistry. Their banter is sharp, their connection undeniable, and the emotional stakes rise with every stolen glance and heated moment.
Jackson’s writing is warm, witty, and emotionally grounded. She captures the push-and-pull of rekindled love with authenticity, and the Montana setting adds a cozy, rustic backdrop that enhances the story’s charm. Josh and Zoe are both flawed and lovable, making their journey toward healing and happiness all the more satisfying. I can’t wait to see what’s next in Poplar Springs!

A sweet second chance best friend’s brother romance. Overall a good story, it was just hard for me to get into and really invest in the characters. There was a solid storyline and fun side characters. I think you’d definitely like it if you’re in the mood for a cowboy romance

I thought this book was fine.
It had its moments where i thought the plot would pick up, but it kept coming back to the same surface level story.
Zoe is coming out of a stressful roommate situation, and Josh is trying to keep the farm up and running.. but she doesn’t seem to understand his hesitancy, and it doesn’t really have anything to do with them being exes. He is just spread thin and trying to do the work of 100 people as one person.
I wouldn’t continue this series if another story came out.

After finishing this, I'm still not sure I liked Josh and Zoe as a couple. I know some people will fault Josh for being too dedicated to his family's ranch and putting it first. But it's honestly completely understandable since that's his family's livelihood and so many people count on him to survive. A rancher/farmer's day never ends. They either work or are on-call 24/7. Zoe should have known that given she grew up around there and around the family. But I can also get her viewpoint since he was pretty ignorant of her feelings and didn't always make an effort to give her the time of day she deserved. That said, these two communicated so poorly. Most of their issues could have been solved by simply communicating and being honest with each other and how they were feeling.
As a photographer and a web admin, I did appreciate the added photography and website coding/upgrades parts of the book since it was relatable. And as a fellow anxiety-sufferer, I also appreciated the inclusion of someone who doesn't have it all together and struggles with anxiety.
I'll be honest, I struggled with the first 60% of this book and almost DNF'd. There was a whole lot of nothing happening with the plot and I honestly felt like I had been reading forever to reach that point. But alas, there was still almost half the book to go. The last 40% does pick up speed and the plot gets more interesting. So if you're like me and are questioning where the plot is going, keep reading.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me engaged and the plot, pace and characters were good. Angst. Emotions. Trauma. All the things that make a good romance.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this arc.

I enjoyed the book and there was ultimately nothing that made me want to DNF. However, it felt very surface level. I felt like every time I turned to a new chapter I did not know what the next scene would be. I wish there was more build up to Zoe and Josh getting together. They got together at like 50% and it was kinda boring just waiting for the project to be finished. I also wished there was more highlighting the code Zoe was writing. We learned a lot of her passion for photography, but I wanted something more. I'm annoyed that Zoe made the big gesture like she could have decided she didn't want to make a certain choice, but that did not mean that she had to forgive Josh for something without seeing if he was willing to change.
Overall it was okay, I probably won't be continuing past this book, but this book was fine.

Our story begins with Josh finding his ex Zoe on his ranch. Josh has no idea that zoe will be staying with him and that she's helping out his family with the website for their ranch. Zoe grew up with josh and his family since she didn't have a good family life at home. They are both dealing with some trauma from their childhoods.

im undone. we are all undone. this book undid us. in all the best romance book kind of ways. this was spot in hit all the right romance spot reads.
i wish i could give it more stars a few times during this book. just brilliant.
it has that gorgeous chemistry thing woven between true heart. its got grumpy. its got determined. its got witty banter. its got all the tender moments and push, pull or angst over where this could possibly end up moments! i love a good book where you genuinely need it to be all right in the end lol. it shows the author has done it. they have made you care.
the book gives us Zoe and Josh. Zoes is a smart lass. shes a got the skills when it comes to web design and thats what steers her to Josh's ranch. but he isnt pleased to see her.not after before when she crushed his young heart. but his sister has bought Zoe here because their ranch needs help, especially their online presence. but did she consult Josh first, did she heck.
so now what can he do but work with her, together, close. hes a professional and he DOES know their sites needs serious help.
but when they are once again spinning round each other they cant deny what they both feel .oh they will try. but this isn't just a crush or teenage first love and we move on. this is more, this is facing those smiles, those looks to each other and the feelings in the still moments.
plus Zoe has come here with her own set of rules. she doesn't do THIS. this being everything that Josh represents and lives by.
she worked so hard to leave that part of her behind and left part of her heart in doing so. she cant do that all again, she wont. but as we know from Josh. putting these two together shows Zoe more than she dared to believe. more than she wanted to dare to believe in. there shared moments are moving, moving her heart and moving here resolves.
so who will bend. will they break. can they figure this out to have a possibility of how it was always meant to be. love.
now i was rooting from this pair almost before i even read of their first interaction. and when they did meet, well, i was done for in my need for this pair to just have a happy ever after. yes i said it i wanted their happy ever after.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest.

After finishing this book, I came to a conclusion: Josh and Zoey should have stayed exes!
I understand that Josh was under a lot of pressure to save the ranch, but many of the conflicts between them could have been resolved with an honest, direct conversation which would have spared us a lot of drama (and quite a few pages!).
The premise had potential and the writing is engaging, but the story became overly dramatic and somewhat repetitive. The final conflict, in particular, felt unnecessary and forced!
Still, for readers who enjoy romances full of emotional ups and downs, this might be an appealing read.

I’m in love .
Undone is a small town cowboy second Chance romance.
I loved both of the main characters and their storyline.
Josh and Zoe had a summer fling as teenagers until they went their separate ways. Years later Zoe turns up on the ranch to help with the ranches website.
Along the way Zoe and Josh reignite their connection.
This such a cute romance book that it will give you all the feels.
The storyline, plot, Character development, and the authors writing style were all *chefs kiss* to me .
I’ve never read a book by Mary Sue Jackson before but now I’m an avid fan! I can’t wait for the next book !
