TWO KINDS OF STRANGER is a ‘Master of Misdirection".
A gripping courtroom drama and psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Steve’s masterful storytelling weaves a complex web of twists and turns.
With a keen understanding of human psychology, the author crafts a villain that takes you on a thought-provoking exploration of truth, deception, and the blurred lines between the two.
The characters are richly drawn and with razor-sharp wit. I enjoyed Eddie and the team’s clever manipulations and the opposing counsel's dogged determination making for a compelling showdown.
As the trial unfolds, the tension builds to a stunning climax that will keep you guessing until the very end. TWO KINDS OF STRANGER is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers and courtroom dramas, and a testament to the author's skill at crafting a story that's both entertaining and intellectually stimulating. With its unpredictable plot and memorable characters, this book will linger in your mind long after you finish reading it.
Thanks to NetGalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

I was delighted to get this eARC as Steve Cavanagh is one of my favourite authors. This book certainly did not disappoint either! Never mind twists and turns its tricks and cons for the Eddie Flynn series and there was plenty in this book. I have still some earlier books in the series to read but, in my opinion, you can enjoy this series out of the publication order (as I have done). Each book makes me love Eddie Flynn’s, lawyer and conman, personality more. The killers are always so horrible and so well written and this book was just a dark delight! I look forward to reading the rest of this fantastic series.

Eddie Flynn is back with a bang and as chaotic as ever. Social media influencer Elly, discovers her husband and maid of honour in bed together, whilst streaming a live video on TikTok. Just when she’s starting to pick herself back up, Logan comes into her life and the next minute she’s being arrested for a double homicide.
This book was exceptionally written from start to finish and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was instantly hooked from the minute I started reading it and every moment I spent not reading it I was desperate to pick it back up. Right until the last page I was constantly desperate to read on, and I personally felt that no questions were left unanswered. Steve Cavanagh has a way of investing you in the book to an extent where you actually feel like you’re experiencing the plot - my heart ached for Elly and throughout the whole book I hoped with every part of me that justice would be served.
This was another excellent instalment in the Eddie Flynn series which I was desperate to read as soon as I saw it due for release, and it certainly did not disappoint. A definite 5 star read from me, I would highly recommend! Thank you NetGalley for my ARC.

Elly Parker is a Tick Toker who shows off her perfect life whilst extolling her fans to perform random acts of kindness #RAK
After her life falls apart, she carries out her own mantra helping a random stranger in need. What she doesn't realise is that she has been targeted and her life is about to get a whole lot worse.
My first Eddie Flynn book and very enjoyable with a twist in the tale!
I would like to thank Headline Publishing and
Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.

I love the way Steve Cavanagh writes and I love his Eddie Flynn series.
This is easily the best and twistiest of a magnificent series of work.
All the normal characters are there and play an integral role in what is a complex and convoluted plot.
Flynn is as creative as ever, always ready to break the rules if he thinks justice would be better served if he does so.
What is different is the quality of his adversary in this book, Logan, sociopath and psychopath that he is but brilliant in his own right too.
The denouement is incredible with not one but two unforeseen twists in the tail.
A wonderful book that engrossed me from the start.

Fantastically entertaining 9th book in the Eddie Flynn series. A combination of thriller and courtroom drama(s), we have a social influencer, recently married who finds her husband in bed with her best friend. After the shock and leaving both behind, while helping a needy stranger on the subway(do one good thing a day was her social media mantra and tag line) she has a near death experience which puts her in hospital. When she wakes up she finds out both her husband and best friend have been murdered and she is the chief suspect!
Yes a bonkers set up but it works perfectly.
We also have Eddie Flynns ex wife and daughter, along with the wife’s new man being threatened by a very nasty character. This story evolves alongside the main one.
We end up with two court cases as Eddie is separated from his usual team to defend the social influencer as his team defend his ex and her partner. Of course there are some bending and breaking of the law as only ex con artist Eddie can get away with.
I’ve read all the books in the series and they are always a fun read, even if some land better than others.
Two Kinds Of Strangers is a blast from start to finish. The end might be a little too much for some and I was unsure about how I felt about it initially, but really it just added to fun, even if it added a near cartoonish finish to the story.
As you can probably tell I loved this one. Cavanagh is a really good storyteller and a pretty good character writer too. The series really is a joy to read.
Thanks to the publisher for the ARC through Netgalley.

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC of this book.
Steve Cavanagh returns with another razor-sharp legal thriller in Two Kinds of Stranger, delivering a heart-racing blend of psychological tension, courtroom drama, and masterful misdirection. Featuring the ever-charismatic Eddie Flynn, this instalment dives into the dangerous aftermath of a random act of kindness gone horrifyingly wrong.
At the story’s centre is Ellie Parker, a once-beloved online figure known for her good deeds, who stumbles into a chilling nightmare after an unthinkable betrayal leaves her vulnerable. Cavanagh explores the unsettling question: how well can you really know a stranger? What begins as a seemingly chance encounter becomes a sinister game of manipulation and control—one with deadly consequences.
Flynn, a conman-turned-lawyer, is the ideal antihero to unravel the twisted web Ellie’s caught in. The stakes are personal, the mind games are cruel, and Cavanagh pulls readers through every dark twist with precision. Fans of tense, high-stakes thrillers will devour this in one breathless sitting.
With his trademark wit, breakneck pacing, and plot twists you’ll never see coming, Two Kinds of Stranger is a standout read for 2025.

Wow! How have I not come across this author before? This was an amazing edge if the seat thriller from start to finish.
Elly Parker is a young social media influencer with the world at her feet - her blog highlights daily acts of random kindness and has gained her thousands of fans. But Elly's life is suddenly turned upside down by a spectacular betrayal but this is just the beginning of a nightmare scenario for that turns her life upside down and leads Elly to turn to conman turned lawyer Eddie Flynn for help.
This is the ninth book in the series featuring trail Lawyer Eddie Flynn and his colleagues. I usually like to read a series from the beginning to get a feel for the characters as they grow but this worked perfectly well as a stand alone with just enough back story information to flesh out the characters giving them real life and depth. The twists and turns of this clever, complex story left me almost breathless. I genuinely gasped at a couple of unexpected surprises. The plot is ingenious and totally compelling and the plot twist at the end was just spectacular.
I am off to hunt out more of Mr Cavanagh's books.
Many thanks to Net Galley, Headline publishers and the author for this ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

Elly Parker has built her brand on kindness - each day, she encourages her numerous followers to display a random act of kindness to a stranger as well as showing off her life as a resident of New York City. When she stops to help a stranger on the subway after suffering a huge betrayal, she cannot and does not realise that this stranger has been watching and waiting for her - and has already chosen her to be his next target.
Having read all of Steve Cavanagh's previous Eddie Flynn books, I was very excited to read this one and it did not disappoint. There are two of three intricately woven plots, and the ending is absolutely brilliant. 5*.

So close to a 5 star, I'd say 4.5 as I did find it a little slow at times. Overall a fantastic book and so easy to read. Two Kinds of Stranger is the 9th in the Eddie Flynn series, however having not read any of the others I got to know the characters quickly and would say it's easy to read as a standalone novel. The characters are all very strong and individual, and I felt connected to each of them, understanding them and their motives.
Steve Cavanagh manages to capture the you with the twists that come throughout, right up until the end. I gasped at one or two surprises. It is all very clever, I love the plotting of the bad guy. There are separate storylines that connect as well which makes it all the more interesting. I always like seeing the personal lives of some of the characters brought in so that was a nice addition. The team works well together.
I will absolutely be going back and reading more of the series, and look forward to a future addition.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Steve Cavanagh for the ARC.

Steve Cavanaghs Two kinds of Stranger takes Eddie Flynn and his law firm to a whole new level. You just never know who you are going to meet in the street and who you can trust. Well written with plot twists you won’t see coming.
I highly recommend this 5 star read.

What a fabulous read and the most unexpected twist at the end. Kept me gripped from start to finish. If you enjoy a thriller, this is the book for you. I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy and leave this review willingly.

I can’t praise this book enough. This is my first time reading this author, Steve Cavanagh and was pleasantly surprised. Each character was entertaining and engaging in their own way and the reader was kept wondering how the story could possibly turn around positively until the very last page.
Elly was an engaging and endearing character who you rooted for throughout and Eddie and his team were great to read. I will definitely be reading the earlier books in this series.

Another fabulous book in the Eddie Flynn series! I loved everything about this book. I could not put it down! There was twists, turns and everything I would want in a thriller!
There isn’t enough I could say about how good this book is! I was hooked from page one, and I think my favourite thing was I was guessing up until the end and that is my kinda read! I couldn’t put this one down and I was holding my breath!
It was captivated from page one to the end!! I read this in a couple of hours on part of my commute, I just couldn’t put it down, I was gripped! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️ stars!

I can sum this book up in 1 word: Amazing! A brilliant fast paced thriller both in and out of the courtroom.
I really like the Eddie Flynn series and this is the best to date. I couldn't put it down! Go buy it now...

4.5
It’s social media influencer, Elly and James’ sixth month anniversary and she’s going to prepare a nice surprise for him, only she’s the one that gets a surprise. A nasty one with millions watching the betrayal. Two weeks ago everything is perfect and her 5 million and counting audience know it, because she trends partly because of #RAK (Random Acts of Kindness). Two weeks later she helps someone struggling in New York’s Grand Central Station, a random act of kindness that plunges her into a nightmare. Cue Eddie Flynn to the rescue, cape and all. The novel is told from several points of view which works extremely well.
A new Eddie Flynn is a cause for a celebratory happy dance and inevitably, exhilarating reading. Right from the start it’s very entertaining as Eddie goes into bat for the “little guy” about to lose it all. You’ve gotta love Eddie and the team – Kate Brooks, Bloch, Gabriel Lake, Harry Ford (not forgetting Clarence, his dog) and Denise. As ever it’s action packed, at times it’s dark but with humour sprinkled throughout which is a great combination leading to an addictive read.
It captures Elly’s fears perfectly (though her blog teeters into nauseatingly saccharine!), Eddie’s confidence and trickery, Kate’s trepidation, the steadfastness of Harry and the ready for anything of Bloch and Lake. They’re up against quite an adversary this time, a shadowy one step ahead opponent and they’re really up against it. This is a “never rains but it pours “ read as manipulative pressure piles on pressure.
There aren’t as many zingy courtroom exchanges this time, Kate is definitely not at the top of her game and there aren’t many Eddie tricks, flicks and shenanigans. However, it’s still very good and thoroughly enjoyable, and I like how the storylines intertwine. There are one or two fortuitous occurrences but hey, it’s fiction and there’s an excellent final twist. Well played sir.
Overall, I’ll happily read another and another Eddie Flynn, what higher praise can you give than that?
With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Headline for the much appreciated early copy in return for an honest review.

I am not one for throwing out five star ratings, I my opinion this novel, the newest one about to come out in print book 9 justifies as a cracking excellent read. Great characters, set in the world of US courts, Eddie Flynn ex conman turned lawyer using his unique talents to ensure those who are being prosecuted receive justice, 'stepping over the line when he needed to, but always to help someone else, having never left the life of a con artist behind' The novel is an easy read with great story line which got my heart pounding and when the court scene played out made my arm hairs stan up. Recommended big time. Thank you NetGalley, publisher and author for being offered to review pre publication. The review is entirely my own

Sheer perfection! From the writing style, the original plot, the characters, absolutely everything is the very top tier of thriller writing. Its a mist read and I cant rate it highly enough. I was enthralled every second and it had the most amazing twists!!! Like.... my kind is blown. Amazing!!!

Living a celebrity life in the public eye is all well and good, until things start going wrong.
So when Ellie Parker is at her most vulnerable, the only person she can turn to for help is Eddie Flynn.
But the price of help is sometimes too high...
Another brilliant instalment to theis always excellent series

I read this book so quick, I couldn’t put it down! Such a gripping story and the twist at the end was brilliant. Another fab Eddie Flynn story, can’t wait for the next one already,
