I enjoyed this latest novel by Steve Cavanagh. Eddie Flynn, Kate Brooks and Harry Ford (retired judge) make a formidable legal team to defend a TikTok celebrity from the charge of murder. At the same time, Eddie's ex-wife and her new husband are charged with murder - a crime for which they immediately declare their innocence. Kate works on the case with the ex-wife and her new husband, whilst Eddie handles the TikToker accused of murder.
I really enjoyed reading the parts with Melissa Bloch (pronounced Bl-ock). She is Eddie's capable and combative investigator and together with Gabriel Lake (Eddie's other investigator), they chase the clues and suspects to backup Eddie's legal tactics.
All in all, a very enjoyable reading experience.
I would like to thank the author and NetGalley for an ARC.

I think it’s time for me to realise I’m not a courtroom drama kinda reader, and I’m not a huge fan of American shoot outs or high adrenalin scenes either, so looking back this probably wasn’t ever going to be the book for me.
Lots of people have loved it and recommended it, but I don’t think Steve C is for me

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another great Eddie Flynn book. Loved the twist and never saw it coming!
Really like the legal aspects of these books. Which I don’t normal find keep me ready. Really enjoy Steve Cavanagh’s writing. Highly recommend!

A fantastic read! Eddie Flynn again at his best. I couldn’t stop reading. Brilliant plot with the return of some beloved characters and the introduction of some new villains. Can’t wait for the next book!

Two Kinds of Stranger is a gripping thriller that cements Steve Cavanagh's reputation for delivering high stakes legal battles wrapped in psychological intrigue. Whether you are new to Eddied Flynn or a long time fan this one promise's a wild ride .From the expertly executed court room scenes to the morally murky manipulation and heartbreak with an excellent twist at the end .Thank you to NetGalley for my ARC.

This was my favourite book I have read by Steve Cavanagh and I was hooked from the get go! I like the modern twist on a thriller by using a social media influencer as the main suspect, I found it quite a unique concept. I have read a few other books from the Eddie Flynn series and thoroughly enjoyed those too, sometimes I feel as it can drag when theres a recurring main character in thrillers but I feel Cavanagh does it so well. I have a few more on my shelf waiting to be read and this has made me more excited to read them.
This book had my hooked from the start and the twists had me on the edge of my seat - which is what you want in a thriller. I don’t read any other courtroom / legal style thrillers as I find they can be very complex but it is done well here and easy to follow.
Another fab read by Steve Cavanagh - 4.5 stars!

A brilliant story following through the journey from social media influencer to murderer with another sub plot alongside. Hooked from start to finish!

I am a bit hit and miss on the Eddie Flynn series. This is book 9, and I have missed a few along the way. But out of the ones I have read... this one is a belter!
Eddie Flynn knows how to work the law. Once a con man, now a trial lawyer, he is called in to investigate and represent a TikToker, Ellie. She livestreams videos of her life, and her lifestyle is followed by many, earning her a good following. Her world is blown apart, her reputation shot and her life is being livestreamed by everyone but her. She has been accused of murder.
Life for Eddie is already going at full speed, but then there is something else lurking that is just going to add to the strain. It comes in the form of a specialist, he is skilled, dangerous and clever. Not to be underestimated. This is a challenge for Eddie as he juggles the cases, home life and that of his colleagues.
This is such an addictive book to read, it starts off brilliantly and just never lets up. If you have read any of this author's books before, then you will be aware of his family circumstances and his friends, how he doesn't mind drifting into the odd, slightly grey area of the law. If you haven't read any, then it is recapped briefly so you won't feel you are missing out on anything.
The cases are complex and it is not straightforward by any means. There are tactics, grievances, pettiness and a whole lot more. The author keeps the flow of the story and the different lines going so well. The story is told from different people, this is easy to follow as each character changes, then a new chapter starts, so you know whose head you are in at any given time. This also keeps the story moving as these chapters are short and snappy.
The sense of danger is something that is there from the start, but it also gradually increases due to the cases and the private investigations and things occurring in the periphery. Tension is evident and also a sense of a game of cat and mouse. The perpetrator is clever, well thought out and has a positive and dominating air about him.
I absolutely loved this book, the storyline evolves throughout, the characters are brilliant and I did enjoy getting back in touch with Bloch, I had forgotten how formidable she is. If you are looking for an established series, then this is a good one, well at least the books I have read in this series have been. This 9th episode in the Eddie Flynn series is such a good one and I would definitely recommend it.

Book 9 in the Eddie Flynn series. Ellie has the perfect life until she doesnt which brings her to Eddie. He might be the only one who can keep her out of jail. He soon finds himself and his family caught up in a deadly game where no one is safe.
Oh I love these books so much. They just hook you in right away and you can't escape. This is book 9 but the main plot is standalone so you wouldn't need to read the others but they are worth it. The plot was brilliant, clever and so full of twists. The ending just finished it perfectly. I figured out one part but loved the final twist. Eddie is someone you can't help but like despite his often illegal dealings, he does it with the best of intentions mostly. The rest of his team are so likeable as well. A brilliant addition and I hope for more.

I’ve read a few books in this series, but this one is my favourite so far. It gave me Lincoln Lawyer vibes—sharp and compelling courtroom scenes, an ex-wife he still cares about, a daughter stuck in the middle, and a loyal office team and sidekicks who always have his back.
The story moved at a great pace, with plenty of action, twists and some humour.
I found myself liking all the characters and the book never once felt dull—it held my attention from start to finish. The ending was a little over the top and contrived, but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment. From now on, I’m happily joining the ranks of Eddie Flynn fans.
I really enjoyed this one and will definitely be reading more from the author.

Eddie Flynn, a lawyer with unorthodox methods of trying cases, reappears in Two Kinds of Stranger in book 9 of the Eddie Flynn series by Steve Cavanagh. If you haven’t read any of the other books in the series it’s no problem as this can be read as a standalone, but it really is worth going back to the start to see how Eddie as a character develops and you get a chance to see some of his cases throughout the years.
Eddie’s big case in this book involves a TikTok star, who is accused of a double murder that she did not commit, but it looks like a slam dunk for the prosecution. Added to this, Eddie’s ex-wife and her husband are accused of murder and that also looks like a case that is going to be very difficult to prove their innocence. Eddie is too close to this one and has to concentrate on his TikTok case and trust his colleague Kate with the fate of his ex-wife.
This book has great pace, suspense, intrigue, and twist and turns. I can’t wait to see what Eddie Flynn gets up to next and eagerly anticipate book 10 in the series, I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes a legal thriller
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book.

Thanks to @netgalley @sscav & the publishers for the ARC.
What can I say?! Steve Cavanagh has smashed it out of the park again with this one! How's he tops each book I do not know! I love Eddie Flynn probably as much as I do @chriscarterbooksofficial 's Robert Hunter (poles apart in characters but lovable all the same!).
Really well written, plenty of twists and turns.
The ending left me stunned but I am just going to say that you have to read it! Steve Cavanagh is just masterful!

This is the second in the Eddie Flynn series that I've received as an ARC (thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC).
I am fast becoming a fan of Steve Cavanagh's work and already looking forward to the next in the series.
There are similarities between this work and John Grisham and Michael Connelly's plots and style of writing - in this book we see Eddie Flynn, former conman, acting as defence lawyer and alongside his colleagues also finding out who has committed a murder and why. I really enjoyed the opener - Ellie, famous instagrammer, unwittingly reveals her husband's infidelity to the world (at the same time she discovers it herself). Could that be the reason for him being murdered?
Hard to say more without revealing spoilers - I'd just recommend you read it if you enjoy a good murder/police procedural.

Two Kinds of Strangers by Steve Cavanagh completely blew me away. From the very first page, I was hooked and always wanted to get back to it whenever I had the chance. The story of Ellie Parker, a woman who seems to have the perfect life until one betrayal unravels everything, was gripping and unsettling in the best way. Watching her go from adored internet celebrity to being caught in a sadistic game where she can’t even trust a stranger had me on edge the entire time.
Eddie Flynn, one of my favorite characters, was at his best here. As a conman turned trial lawyer, he’s drawn into a case where nothing is what it seems and the stakes couldn’t be higher, not just for Ellie but for Eddie and his own family. The pacing was intense, the twists were sharp, and every time I picked it up, I didn’t want to put it back down.
The ending left me absolutely stunned. It was unexpected, clever, and downright insane in the best possible way. I’m still thinking about it and honestly don’t even know how to feel, except that I loved every second. This has easily become a new favorite and proves once again why Steve Cavanagh is a master of the legal thriller.
Highly recommend if you love thrillers that keep you guessing until the very last page.

The latest Eddie Flynn book from Steve cavanagh is an absolute belter.
Really well written and a good few twists and turns ensured I was hooked from start to finish!

Two Kinds Of Stranger is book 9 in this series. I have read none of the previous books but I don’t think it massively hindered my understanding of the main characters.
Elly Parker is a successful journalist and social media influencer with her random acts of kindness every day until she helps the wrong kind of stranger. She live films herself celebrating her six month anniversary to her perfect husband and it’s not the surprise she was hoping for with him. Encountering a murderer in an act of kindness her life spirals out of control and needs the help of Eddie Flynn, Kate and his team.
This was a decent read, it seamlessly fitted two stories together at quite a fast pace. The courtroom bits were not long and boring which can happen and I think it worked that characters had their own chapters. I ,irked how Flynn also as well as trying to get Elly out of trouble he had a softer side by trying to help his ex wife who had a bit of trouble going on in her house. The ending I thought was great, totally unexpected but the ending it deserved.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Headline for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

I was sent a copy of Two Kinds of Stranger by Steve Cavanagh to read and review by NetGalley. Wow! What a thriller! I loved this book and could hardly put it down. I have read and enjoyed one of the author’s previous Eddie Flynn novels and I enjoyed this one even more. The book is written with different chapters focusing on some particular characters, with protagonist Eddie Flynn’s written first person. You can almost hear a narration over a film 1940s style in his chapters. If you have read the previous books in the series then you will welcome the characters that you already know and love. If you want to get your pulse racing with a well-crafted twisty novel that you can’t put down then this is definitely one you should try!

Definitely my favourite Eddy Flynn novel so far.
Elly Parker is a successful journalist and social media influencer. Her life seems perfect - good career; perfect new husband; great best friend. Elly even "gives back" with her random acts of kindness videos.
But the ultimate betrayal derails the perfection and before she can find some peace she finds her life spiralling out of control in ways she could never have imagined. Thankfully she's heard of Eddy Flynn.
There are a couple of connected strands to this novel which Cavanagh knits together seamlessly. The action is fast and almost non-stop leaving you wondering what on earth can happen next.
I loved this book. It was really hard to put down. All the usual suspects are here with Eddy being ably assisted by Bloch, Lake, Harry and Kate. But there are also breaks in the action that involve Eddy's family.
It's a perfect combination and the end is extremely satisfying and twisty.
Very highly recommended whether you're already a fan of Flynn or not. Just be prepared to be hooked from the start.
Thankyou to Netgalley and Headline for the advance review copy. Most appreciated.

"It's the kindness that kills you."
Ellie Parker is a TikTok star, known for her random acts of kindness and for having the perfect husband, perfect home and perfect best friend. Even when it all comes crashing down, Ellie is willing to show kindness. Until she shows it to a sadistic killer who knows everything about her. Trapped in a nightmare, the only person who can help Ellie is conman-turned-lawyer Eddie Flynn. Eddie is keen to help, but this puts him and his family in mortal danger.
This is only my second Eddie Flynn book, and I now want to read the entire series because they are highly enjoyable. Eddie is the kind of anti-hero you can really get behind. He's willing to bend the law, but only to help see justice done. I love his motley crew of colleagues who help him ensure the truth prevails.
I often don't enjoy having a villain's point of view in a thriller, especially when you know his/her identity, but in this case, it ratcheted up the tension. I was riveted by the story's twists and turns, and easily finished the book in one sitting. The ending was unexpected but worked well. A highly enjoyable piece of crime fiction.

A new Eddie Flynn book is always a treat, and this one is packed with tension, twists and high stakes.
Ellie Parker’s life looks perfect to her millions of followers, built on her popular #RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) brand. But when a public betrayal destroys it all, she is left vulnerable. A chance act of kindness in Grand Central Station then pulls her into a nightmare she could never have imagined.
Eddie Flynn and his team – Kate Brooks, Bloch, Gabriel Lake, Harry Ford and Clarence the dog step in to help.
Their opponent this time is ruthless, manipulative and always one step ahead, making for a gripping game of cat and mouse. Told from multiple perspectives, the story captures Ellie’s fear, Eddie’s determination and the loyalty of his crew as the danger mounts. It is dark and tense yet still has moments of humour that balance the pace.
While there are fewer courtroom scenes than in some of the earlier books, the intertwined storylines, constant sense of threat and a satisfying final twist make this a thoroughly enjoyable read.
