Another edge of your seat read in the ninth outing for Eddie Flynn which is nothing short of outstanding. As always,I was hooked from the first page by this fast paced, twisty legal thriller that never lets up.
I love every character in this series even the bad guys are written with such personality that you cant help but be drawn in,Steve Cavanagh has a gift for creating villians you love to hate and courtroom showdowns that leave you breathless.
I really love that everyone thinks they can beat Eddie but never quite manage to pull it off,his always one step ahead.
This book features 2 intertwining storylines, one that's deeply personal to Eddie.
I had an idea where we were heading near the end and I wasn't disappointed it was nailed perfectly, such is the writing that even when you start to see the pieces come together it still shock and delights the reader.
As a huge fan of this series, I can honestly say it's another triumph. Well done, Mr Cavanagh. Once again, you've outdone yourself.Roll on Book 10... I can't wait
Highly Recommended.

What a cracker of a read! The author never fails to deliver a well thought out story with solid characters and a detailed background on them.
A non stop, action read from page 1 to the very end and the ending left me open-mouthed so totally unexpected. Just WOW loved it!

Another great Eddie Flynn novel. For anyone who hasn't yet tried this series, I cannot recommend it enough. Five stars doesn't feel like sufficient. The writing is always pacey, the killers disturbing, the plot unexpected. This one has a brilliant last minute twist that I didn't see coming too, very satisfying indeed! Steve Cavanagh is a fast favourite - please keep them coming.

From the very first page of Two Kinds of Stranger, it’s clear that Steve Cavanagh has once again delivered a legal thriller of the highest calibre. Returning favourite Eddie Flynn and his team are thrust into the heart of a case where Ellie Parker, a young social media influencer is accused of murdering her husband and his lover.

At the core of this novel is lawyer Eddie Flynn, whose unconventional style and razor-sharp wit keep the proceedings as tense as they are entertaining. The courtroom is Cavanagh’s arena, and through Eddie’s manoeuvres, readers are treated to a spectacle of tactical brilliance, emotional depth, and dry humour.

A thriller is only as strong as its antagonist, and in this one, Logan is a villain for the ages. Logan’s character is utterly devoid of scruples or morals, and his presence hovers over every twist and turn of the plot. The danger feels immediate and unrelenting, elevating the stakes and ensuring that the suspense never lets up.

In summary, Two Kinds of Stranger is a superbly written, character-driven novel that delivers both heart and thrills in equal measure. With its ingenious courtroom drama, unforgettable villain, and the inimitable Eddie Flynn at its centre, this novel is an absolute must-read for fans of the genre. Five stars, without hesitation.

WOW I really enjoyed Two Kinds of Stranger (Eddie Flynn book 9) by Steve Cavanagh is an abosolutely gripping thriller with lots of action, court dramas, murder, infidelity, intrigue, danger and suspense.

Eddie Flynn and his loyal staff take their lives in their hands when they defend Ellie Parker a TikToker who loves to show acts of kindness to random people to entertain her followers on the internet.

Unfortunately one of her acts of kindness will end up with her being accused of murder and this will end up putting not only Ellie's life in danger but Eddie's family and his loyal staff too.

Unbeknown to Eddie and Ellie there is someone watching their every move and is always one step ahead of the game.

The famous saying by Mothers who care about their loved ones 'Never trust a stranger.' will come into play more than once in this mind blowing thriller.

Steve Cavanagh has entertained us yet again with another edge of the seat Eddie Flynn thriller long may he continue.

This fast-paced murder mystery sees defence lawyer Eddie Flynn fighting to defend his client Elly, who is charged with committing a triple murder. At the same time, he is attempting to protect his ex-wife and family against a stalker with an axe to grind.

The plot opens when Elly, a young up and coming influencer accidentally live streams her husband’s affair with her best friend. (think Coldplay's recent concert) As the upload goes viral, the two lose their jobs, friends and social media followers. Despite being lured and drugged herself by a young man in plaster, the prosecution still believe she is guilty. There is only one eyewitness that can corroborate her story. Flynn and his team must find him before the real murderer does.

Alongside this plot is a sub story. Flynn’s ex-wife’s husband managed to overturn a will denying the swindler Arthur Cross out of a twenty million dollars inheritance. Cross intends to make him pay by destroying his family.

While this is a series of nine, I had no trouble reading it in isolation. Cavanagh's story telling simply keeps you turning the pages. Eddie’s unique ability to get results makes him a lovable rogue who you would want on your team if you were ever in a spot of bother. The final twist was the icing on the cake. I loved every minute of it.

Thank you NetGalley and Headline publishing for the opportunity to review this ahead of publication.

This is book nine of what is probably one of the best series I read and, as usual, I am going to advise you start from the beginning and read in order.
I know from reading the previous eight books that whatever pickle Eddie and his colleagues get themselves into, they will probably get out of it come the end of the book. Battered, bruised and scarred, but they will get out. That's not a spoiler cos the series is still going! But, in this book, even though the author has wowed and amazed me before and I know I should trust him, I was really worried and totally clueless as to how in the heck he would achieve it... And to find out HOW and indeed IF he was successful.
But I get ahead of myself... We start with Ellie Parker who literally has everything going for her. She has her dream job as an internet celebrity influencer and has not long married the man of her dreams. It is all going swimmingly for her until one day she discovers that all is not as rosy in her life as she thinks when she uncovers the worst betrayal. But if that wasn't enough, she is just starting to get her life back on track after that bombshell when a random act of kindness she bestows upon a stranger comes back to kick her in the teeth. Leaving her in the darkest place with no sign of ever getting out. Even when she gets well renown trial lawyer Eddie Flynn on her side... But Eddie has his own issues in this book when his family are targeted by a rather nasty villain of their own...
And that's all I am saying as the rest is all completely convoluted and interconnected with red herrings and obfuscation aplenty as Eddie and his team try their hardest to work out what in the heck is happening and, more importantly, try and stop it and bring the real perpetrator to justice.
I love this series. I love Eddie and his team. We've been through a lot together. So much so that I rather think I am getting a bit emotionally involved... And the author has taken full advantage of that fact and really run me ragged during this book. Even though I trust him, you can never really fully trust an author, can you? Especially one as clever as we have here with his twists and turns, secrets and lies, bait and switches and that aforementioned obfuscation to boot. Always one step ahead of me, I never caught up, but I sure did have a blast trying to figure it all out!
And the way it was all left... leaves me both scared and excited for what will come in the future... Roll on book 10! My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Two Kinds of Stranger is an excellent title for this thriller. Of course there are many types of stranger but for the purposes of Steve Cavanagh's story there's the one who may befriend you like the good Samaritan and the one who may harm you, fatally!
The main character Eddie Flynn was an erstwhile conman now turned lawyer, he would be my go-to guy if I ever got wrongfully indicted in New York. He knows all the angles and prefers true justice to the one pedalled out by the Judiciary. He gets to defend a young influencer who is charged with killing her husband and her best friend by poisoning. It is said to be a woman's preferred method but the KGB and FSB are advocates too. However, in this particular case the young woman is innocent. She has been set up by a very cunning person, one who seems to be ahead of the game at every twist and turn. Twists and turns there aplenty, it was a breathtaking read and almost impossible to put down. There is so much detail in the novel one wonders how Steve Cavanagh set about creating it.
I'm afraid it's another one where five stars hardly does it justice.

Eddie Flynn is back with a new captivating trial mystery that will keep you guessing until the very last page.

Ellie is an influencer who has made her fame by doing daily acts of kindness for strangers, by when her life explodes during a live video she is left with nothing. But even when she is struggling, she continues doing nice things for strangers but that leads her into the hands of a maniac, who takes advantage of that kindness.

We slowly see what happened after Ellie's video became viral and how she is dealing with the fall out until she falls victim of a man that changes everything.

Eddie and the gang are taking Ellie's case but everything works against them from the very first moment. In addition to that, Eddie's family is facing a different kind of danger that is making everything so much difficult and complicated for them.

I simply love the way Eddie and the team work, you can never be sure what to expect and the twists are coming from left and right. I did managed to figure out one small part of the final twist but not the whole mystery which was layered perfectly from the beginning till the end.

I hope you get more books in this series because I seriously can't get enough.

* I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the advance copy to read. As an avid Steve Cavanagh fan it is both an honour and privilege to be able to read this.

Two Kinds of Stranger is book 8 in the Eddie Flynn series. Whilst I have read and loved the rest of the series, I also think this book could be read as a standalone too.

Eddie Flynn and his team are back doing what they do best, protecting the innocent, conducting thorough investigations and a slightly less than legal play. Steve Cavanagh has managed to cultivate a truly amazing series that truly captivates the audience. It plays out like a movie, just like the other books in the series. If you are looking for something thrilling, fast paced and endlessly enjoyable, this book and series is it.

My only gripe with Two Kinds of Stranger, and any other book by Steve Cavanagh, is that they always have to end. I would happily live the rest of forever only reading books from this series, if I could. I am already counting down the hours until the next one is written and released.

10 out of 10.

4.5 stars - Eddie Flynn and the team are back for another instalment! As an avid lover of this series, I was excited to get stuck into the next tale. I can wholeheartedly say this book did not disappoint. From all the usual shenanigans we’ve come to love from our favourite ex-con artist, to the unexpected twists and turns peppered throughout the story, Steve Cavanagh keeps the reader on their toes right until the bitter end.

The story centres around social media influencer, Elly Parker, whose world is blown apart in the opening moments of the book. After finding her husband and best friend sleeping together, things quickly take a turn for the worse. A chance encounter with a stranger in the subway station turns Elly’s world upside down, and she soon finds herself being accused of the murder of her husband and best friend.

Eddie and the team get to work on the case, but this adversary is tougher than any they’ve come across before. Always two steps ahead of the team and the effects of this are felt closer to home than ever before.

Have Eddie and the team finally met their match?

One offers a helping hand. The other is your worst nightmare... Social media influencer, Elly Parker, had the perfect life, that is until she discovered her husband had been having an affair with her best friend. But as hurt, betrayed, unmoored as Elly is, she has made it her mission to help others in need. Even strangers. When Elly meets a man on the steps to the subway platform, crutches in one hand and a yellow suitcase by his feet, she can’t help but feel sorry for him. Just as he planned. This small act of kindness sets off a change of events more terrifying than anything she ever could imagine. To survive, Elly will need to convince the world what happened to her was real. She needs a lawyer who can bend the rules to find the truth. Eddie Flynn and his team must find the stranger with the yellow suitcase. But little do they know this cunning killer is a master manipulator and is always one step ahead.

I have absolutely loved all of Steve Cavanagh’s Eddie Flynn thrillers and Two Kinds of Stranger was no exception.
Eddie and the team are back defending social media star Ellie who was framed for murder after finding her husband and best friend together. Alongside Ellie’s trial, Eddy’s ex wife Christine and her husband Kevin are also on trial for murder.
This is another twisty instalment in the Eddy Flynn series, I love the characters although I did feel that Kate’s character was under developed here. As usual the author is full of surprises and blends the two cases together perfectly. There’s a good mix of thriller and courtroom scenes and it is expertly plotted and well paced. I raced through this over the course of 24 hours and would highly recommend.
4.5 stars.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

I always enjoy a good thriller and Steve Cavanagh always writes a twisty, page turner. The opening chapter of this was gripping and it hooked you in straight from the start. I like to go into these books blind so I really didn't know what was going to happen.

I did find that the pace slowed after the initial chapter, and didn't really get going again until after about 60%, when the trial started. I definitely lost momentum with the story and this is the reason for my lower rating. It took me a while to read the first 50% of the book. I found the multiple POVs slightly confusing, as I couldn't remember who each of the characters were to begin with.

That being said, after 60% and the trial began, the pace picked up and I enjoyed the multiple POVs more at this stage too. I couldn't work out how the story was going to end (which is always good in a thriller!) and so from this point on I was gripped and I then finished it in two sittings (would have been one if I had the time!).

Steve has a brilliant skill for writing twists and the character he has built in Eddie Flynn is very clever and entertaining. Even though I have read several of the other books in this series, I think it's worth saying that you also can read this as a standalone thriller, but of course all the better for reading the previous books!

I particularly enjoyed the big twist in the final chapter, which I absolutely did not see coming and it was a brilliant way to end this story! I'm looking forward to what Eddie Flynn faces next.

This was a cleverly written book.

It had my attention from the get go and it kept on delivering.

I was fully engaged in all the characters, the emotion was beautifully crafted, and the storyline kept opening up into more.

There were many gasp out loud moments that completely surprised me. I was totally riveted until the very last page.

I really liked the ending, it provided yet another surprise, and then another, when it seemed like the story was winding down.

A brilliant book which left me feeling satisfied yet also wanting more.

If I could give this book more stars I would, I have had to sit with this book for a week or two after finishing it before I have felt ready to write the review, as this book is consuming and takes over your headspace for a while.

When Social influencer Ellie Parker live streamed catching her new husband in bed with her best friend, her life took a turn for the worst, but she still couldn't help herself carrying out her random acts of kindness, one of which nearly killed her. When helping a man with a cast on his leg, navigate the subway, she enters an alternative reality that really does turn her world upside down. Facing a lifetime in prison for a double murder, the one person she has heard of that she feels can help her is Eddie Flynn.

The book tells you who the perpetrator is straight away but you cannot see a way out of any situation they find themselves in, it is like being in a nightmare you can't wake up from. I would say that this has been the best book I have read this year, and anyone who likes a good psychological thriller, needs to read this book. Don't worry if you haven't read any of the earlier Eddie Flynn books (I have read one previously) as it can be read as a standalone alone. I cannot stress how good this book is

My rating: 4.5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
My synopsis: Elly Parker is an influencer who’s known for doing ‘random acts of kindness’ videos. Upon filming a live stream, she discovers her husband and best friend having an affair, and two weeks later she’s framed for their murder. “Two weeks ago Ely’s life exploded. And the world watched.”
At the same time as Elly’s trial, Eddie Flynn’s ex wife Christine and her husband Kevin are also on trial for murder. “This is my family, or what's left of it. You can play it straight and gamble their lives on a long shot you can't make, or you can do it my way and save them.”
“Sometimes ordinary people caught Logan’s attention. Not long afterwards, they ended up dead.”

My review: This is hands down one of my FAVOURITE Steve Cavanagh books👏 I’m an avid fan already but as I read a lot of crime & thriller, I still have high expectations and they were exceeded! Considering it was 400~ pages I flew through it as it was so gripping, and at no point did it drag or did I feel the need to skim read. It was so cleverly written, and reminds me a lot of Michael Connolley’s Lincoln Lawyer in terms of how Eddie Flynn operates (as an ex con-man turned lawyer).
Even though there are three main plots and so many layers within, it was easy to follow. The pastrami case at the start I loved as it delved you right into how Eddie and his team work to defend their clients. I really liked Logan as a serial killer, I enjoyed his back story and appreciated chapters from his POV. Only thing was maybe his reasoning for doing what he did for me needed a bit more padding out, and a few times I struggled with remembering who was who. The book had so many great twists and little snippets of clues, yet I still didn’t figure most of them out!🕵️‍♀️ As always everything is neatly wrapped up at the end, and I can’t wait for the next book! Will continue to highly recommend Steve’s books to everyone who will listen💗

What can I say about this book except that it was another absolutely gripping instalment of the Eddie Flynn series. Had me holding my breath on many occasions, had all the usual strong character relationships and development and also introduced new situations to think about that will lead on to the next book. It also delivered an awesome twist that I did NOT expect. Loved it!
