Oh. Wow. This book is absolutely superb. It needs to come with a whiplash warning because of all the twists! I was totally hooked and can't recommend it highly enough. Deserves more than 5 stars.

Another solid novel by Steve Cavanagh in the Eddie Flynn series.
Even if you've not delved into Eddie's world before, you're in for a treat with this thriller.
Lawyer Eddie Flynn is hired to defend Ellie, a social media celebrity whose perfect world is turned upside down when she is accused of the murder of her husband and her best friend. The two victims were having an affair, which Ellie had revealed inadvertently in real time when she was doing a live stream at her perfect aparment in New York.
Eddie is pitted against the cunning of charismatic sociopath, Logan, a chilling killer, while, at the same, time protecting his own daughter ,ex-wife and her husband when they are pulled into Logan's complicated web.
This is a bingeworthy novel, which could easily be read in one sitting.
As soon as it hooks you in (which is very quickly), Two Kinds of Stranger will have you turning the pages to reach the climactic conclusion.
Recommended for lovers of taut, high-speed thrillers and seat-of-the-pants courtroom dramas.
Thank you NetGalley and to the publishers for an advance review copy of this novel.

Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of Two Kinds of Stranger. As a long time fan of the Eddie Flynn series, I was eager to dive into this latest instalment, and it absolutely did not disappoint.

The story follows Ellie, framed for the brutal murder of her cheating husband, while the real killer, Logan, a chillingly charismatic sociopath, leaves a calculated trail of evidence pointing directly to her. The tension is palpable from the start, and Steve Cavanagh expertly weaves a taut, gripping legal thriller that is impossible to step away from.

Eddie Flynn is as sharp and compelling as ever, surrounded by a cast of solid, likeable characters who bring real heart and depth to the story. The legal detail is, as always, spot on and never overwhelming, perfectly balanced to keep the pace flying.

This was a one sitting read for me. Clever, high stakes and filled with twists, Two Kinds of Stranger is another triumph from Cavanagh. Highly recommended for fans of legal thrillers and courtroom drama at its finest.

Internet star Ellie Parker seems to have it all until the day it all comes crashing down around her. Known for her random acts of kindness, she helps the wrong person – a stranger who wants to see her suffer. Ellie knows that lawyer Eddie Flynn is the only person that can help her, but Eddie is dealing with a crisis of his own when his daughter reveals something that threatens some of the people he cares most about.

In the ninth Eddie Flynn book, Steve Cavanagh turns his attention to the phenomenon of the social media influencer and the dangers of living your life for all to see. While Ellie thinks all she is doing is performing good deeds, she does not realise that by exposing so much of her daily life online, she is actually helping to incriminate herself when a nefarious character uses her innocuous posts to his benefit. A timely reminder of thinking before you post!

In any book, this would be a gripping plot, full of tension-filled moments where, at times, you genuinely don’t know what the outcome is going to be. I felt a huge amount of sympathy for Ellie, a woman who we know is totally innocent but has become the pawn in someone’s wicked game. In Two Kinds of Stranger, however, we are treated to an equally absorbing story involving Eddie’s ex-wife where we also meet a particularly horrible character, hellbent on disrupting the life of someone he perceives has wronged him. This is worthy of a book of its own but Steve Cavanagh manages to weave both plots together perfectly, demonstrating superb writing skill.

I am not going to give any spoilers but I did not see the ending coming at all so plaudits go to the author for keeping me on the edge of my seat right until the very last page! Things will definitely be different in future Eddie Flynn books and I am here for it!

I loved my first Steve Cavanagh book! Honestly kept my gripped throughout. I was worried that there was a large cast of characters but they were all so well-rounded that it made it very easy to keep track. I think the only character I didn’t feel was fully fleshed out was Kate so would be very interested in reading some of the former books in the series to learn more about the team. A great read, would totally recommend!

Another brilliantly plotted novel featuring Eddie Flynn.
When internet influencer Ellie Parker helps a stranger at New York’s Grand Central Station, it's the beginning of a nightmare. She is accused of a double murder and turns to Eddie Flynn for help. In a parallel story, Eddie's ex-wife, her partner and daughter are being threatened. This results in the drama of two court cases.
The characters in the book are very well-drawn. Logan is a particularly nasty and chilling villan. The story moves along at a good pace and all the different threads are skilfully woven together at the end.
A great read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review,

A fast paced novel that's full of villians, murders and plot twists! Very easy to read and throws lots of punches along the way.

There are many characters that are all well defined, plus the loose ends are tied up neatly by the end. You won't see that coming though!

Highly recommended as a holiday read.

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review. I love the Eddie Flynn series which is one of my personal favourites. Two Kinds of Stranger is a cleverly written book with lots of exciting moments and brilliant characters. The story has two court cases running at the same time which added to the suspense and the story was told from multiple points of view. A fast paced action packed thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Highly recommended.

I really liked the characters and the final twist was amazing, I did not see it coming. I thought this was going to be different but I enjoyed it a lot.
I'm going to keep reading Steve Cavanagh's books for sure.

I've enjoyed all the Eddie Flynn books, but this might be my favourite.
I say might be, because there's surely more to come.
First off I enjoyed getting reacquainted with the characters, the whole gang back together again. Made me feel all cosy.
Then the action starts, and frankly didn't stop.
Just when I thought I'd put the book down and go and be productive, something happened, and I couldn't.
Just couldn't.
There were moments I gasped out loud.
That rarely happens.
Right to the very last full stop I was hooked.
Excellent stuff.

Another great Eddie Flynn thriller.
Ellie is a TikTok influencer who does a random act of kindness everyday.
Suddenly her life is turned upside down when her husband and best friend betray her. Her life tumbles rapidly down a rabbit hole with tragic consequences.
Meanwhile Eddie Flynn’s life follows a similar path..
Eddie, as we know is not someone who gives up when faced with adversity and is determined to face the difficulties ahead of him, his family and his client.
One of my favourite Eddie Flynn books

Thank you NetGalley and Headline for this eCopy to review

I just finished Two Kinds of Stranger, and I’m still catching my breath. Steve Cavanagh has once again delivered a masterclass in courtroom drama and psychological suspense. This ninth instalment in the Eddie Flynn series is a wild ride from start to finish, and easily one of my favourites.

The story centres on Ellie Parker, a social media influencer known for her random acts of kindness. Her life seems perfect until a devastating betrayal leaves her publicly humiliated and emotionally wrecked. At her lowest, she helps a stranger… and that’s when everything spirals. Turns out, the stranger isn’t just mysterious—he’s deadly. Ellie becomes the pawn in a sadistic game, and the only person who can help her is Eddie Flynn, the conman-turned-lawyer with a knack for impossible cases.

What I loved:

The twists were relentless. Just when I thought I had it figured out, Cavanagh flipped the script.

Eddie Flynn is as sharp and charismatic as ever. His courtroom scenes are electric.

Ellie’s descent into danger felt terrifyingly real. Her vulnerability and grit made her a standout character.

The villain? Absolutely chilling. Manipulative, brilliant, and always one step ahead.

This book had me hooked from page one. It’s not just a thriller—it’s a psychological maze with emotional stakes and razor-sharp dialogue. If you love clever plotting, morally complex characters, and courtroom fireworks, Two Kinds of Stranger is a must-read.

This is book 9 of the Eddie Flynn series and it's just as good as the previous ones. This is a fantastic series with wonderfully written characters. This is an addictive, fast paced thriller that has you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommend.

I can't recommend this book enough.
. Ellie Parker seems to have the perfect life; she's an influencer, a devoted wife, and always helps people without question. But one fateful encounter with a stranger she's trying to assist spirals into chaos she could never have imagined. This book is a nonstop adrenaline rush, with every page keeping your heart racing. It's another brilliant read that will keep you guessing until the very end.
As always, a phenomenal success by Steve Cavanagh.

I cannot recommend this book enough. Steve Cavanagh always has his readers on the edge of the seat.
Ellie Parker has a perfect life who helps people without question. She is an influencer, a wife and has it all. One encounter with a stranger she is trying to help backfires in a way she could never have imagined.
This book is an absolute adrenaline of a ride. From the first to last page it has your heart racing. Another brilliant read that keeps you guessing until the end.

Another brilliant, fast-paced thriller from Steve Cavanagh! Two Kinds of Strangers grabs you from page one and doesn’t let go. This time, Eddie Flynn is helping a famous TikTok star caught up in a mess, while also dealing with a personal crisis involving his ex-wife and her new family—who’ve landed in serious trouble with a known criminal.

As always, Eddie and his team are sharp, quick-witted, and endlessly entertaining. There’s courtroom drama, shootouts, car chases, and plenty of twists to keep you hooked. I flew through it in a day—it’s that addictive.

Although it’s part of the Eddie Flynn series, you don’t need to have read the others to enjoy it. That said, as someone who has followed the series, I loved seeing how the characters have grown. It’s action-packed, emotionally grounded, and just a wonderfully easy read. Highly recommend!

Always enjoy an Eddie Flynn book and this was as good as always. I enjoy the characters in the office and their interactions but the crimes are always twisty and mind boggling but plausible.
From popular Instagram poster, newly married and enjoying life to betrayed by husband and best friend and murder suspect.
How quickly event's change Elly's life. The smart choice of retaining Flynn and Doyle as defence attorney's gives the impossible very slim changes of hope.
A fantastic book that I couldn't put down, I was reading until 2am to finish it.

Some thoughts:

- I was apprehensive about this one after witness 8 - because I found that one to be for me the weakest in the series so far.

- The first two chapters immediately draw you in. You’re hit with drama, betrayal, heartbreak and in true Eddie Flynn style catching out other con men using his own questionable methods.

- We again have a duel storyline happening with Elly’s trial and another trial that directly impacts upon Eddie

- Of course Bloch is being the ultimate badass, Kate being clever, harry has recovered thankfully! And lake is as broody as ever

- As usual the courtroom scenes are my favourite, we get to see Eddie exposing shady tactics and completely undermining people in the best way possible.

- Again I love how clever this one felt. Witness 8 lost that for me, it didn’t feel as cleverly played out - whereas, this one really did make me smile during the reveals.

- I also love that we got to see Eddie interacting with his family a bit more in this one. It’s a complicated storyline but I always enjoy the moments between dad and daughter.

- The actual crime in this one is clever. The idea of acts of kindness actually being the thing that nearly ki‼️s you.

- Eddie takes some bigger risks in this one to help his wife and husband. Ultimately they pay off but it also places his friends in difficult situations

- Logan is definitely an intriguing bad guy. His decisions are so precise and calculated but his infatuations are his ultimate downfall.

- Shocked about what Kate decides - but also understandable

- The final little twist at the end was fun.

Overall, this of course had some weakness. For example, such the random social media inserts - they weren’t necessary at all and didn’t add anything further to the story.

But I can’t fault much because it captured everything I’ve loved about this series from the beginning. It continued to surprise and shock me. I laughed at points and also felt for our characters.

I enjoyed Eddie being the ultimate con man and using his own unique law skills to expose corruption and deceit within the justice system.

And of course just how bloody clever the author is at constantly creating impossible situations and yet our characters always find a way.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks again to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this book in exchange for an honest review!
