Book number nine in the Eddie Flynn series, and this time Flynn and Brooks, Attorneys at Law, are working two cases, not obviously intertwined, but Eddie and Kate have their hands full in proving the innocence of three people, all set up by one evil psychopath to feed his manic addiction. The firm continues to become sought after, now taking on more high profile cases and the books just get better.

I love this series with the characters and plot lines being superb, it’s all exciting writing. Addictive reading, though keeping the twists and turns straight takes some doing! A great, though not entirely unexpected, final chapter, but executed beautifully!

Roll on the next Eddie Flynn.

4.5*

Thank you NetGalley and Headline.

Two Kinds of Strangers is the ninth book in the Eddie Flynn series by Steve Cavanagh. I really enjoy legal thrillers so this is a perfect crime novel for me. Eddie Flynn used to be a con artist and now makes his living as a lawyer. You may think that this is a complete career change but it turns out the two aren’t that different. These novels are fast paced, quirky, humorous at times and have great characters. I love this series by author Steve Cavanagh and find them very entertaining.

Ellie Parker was living the dream, a perfect husband, an enviable career, and millions of followers drawn to her brand of online kindness. But her perfect life was quickly brought down to earth live, in front of an audience. Even at this extremely low point in her life she is still available to help others, but that compassion becomes her weakness, making her the perfect mark.

What follows is a psychological and legal nightmare, staged by her predator who is determined to bring Ellie down. Con man turned lawyer Eddie Flynn, is drawn into Ellie’s case when no one else believes her, and what starts as a simple plea for help becomes something far more sinister.

The case becomes more than just professional when his family could be the next target. I enjoyed the novel from start to finish but particularly liked the courtroom scenes that Steve Cavanagh depicts so well. The villain at the centre of this novel is a devious manipulator and pure evil, which makes the novel so much better. Lots of action, twists and turns and great characters. Difficult to fault this novel as it held my attention throughout and I was unable to put it down. I love the book and the series and rate this particular read 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Headline for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant!

Once again, Steve Cavanagh hits it out of the park! He never misses.

Another Eddie Flynn debacle but this time it’s personal when an unknown killer sets up Eddies Ex-Wife and her new partner for murder.

Whilst the rest of his team is dealing with proving the innocence of Elly, a very successful Tik-Tokker, of the murder of her cheating ex who was having an affair with her best friend!

“Oh what a tangled web we weave when we first practice to deceive”!

Steve Cavanagh keeps his crown as King of the legal crime genre.

Elly is a social influencer that tapes herself doing good deeds and puts them on Tik Tok. Newly married, she finds her husband and best friend in bed together. Not long after, she helps a man on crutches with his suitcase and finds herself almost dead. Then she is arrested for their murders. Eddie Flynn is hired as her counsel. along with his team. Meanwhile, his ex, her new husband, and his daughter are being threatened. These two cases do intertwine. Who will be found guilty? Who will end up dead? Wonderful book. I couldn't read it fast enough.

This book is awesome!! Elly is do gooder that posts her videos of doing good deeds on tik tok. One day she comes home to find her husband and BFF in bed together. Shortly after, they are murdered and she is arrested. But. she couldn't have done it because someone else was trying to kill her at the same time. Poor Elly. I couldn't imagine how scared I would be in this situation. Enter our old gang to prove her innocent. Great suspense!

Really easy, addictive read. Didn't want to put it down with all the twists. I did find it hard to keep up with all the different character names though and still felt the same at the end so 4 stars

I’m a long-term fan of Steve Cavanagh’s novels and I can’t think of any book of his that I have rated less than 4.5 stars. However, this does leave me with a dilemma,
• will his next book live upto my expectations?
• can the next book be even better?
Ahh, the stress!
Thankfully, as always, I should not have worried as “Two Kinds of Stranger” ticks all of the boxes for being thrilling, twisty and full of the unexpected.
A full 5 starts for the latest novel from the genius that is Steve Cavanagh.
“Two Kinds of Stranger” is the ninth novel in the starring one Eddie Flynn - a lawyer in New York. Since the first novel (The Defense aka The Defence), Eddie has graduated from working on small cases for little money to now having a well-established reputation of the lawyer for those in trouble.

Ellie Parker is Eddie’s latest client and she has become an internet sensation, or gone viral, for her daily “Random Act of Kindness” posts. Ellie appears to have the perfect life, until her fiancée betrays her and becomes accused of am double homicide with a few days! Her only hope is Eddie and his team. But meanwhile Eddie is distracted as his ex-wife and daughter are placed in danger when her new husband is threated.
There are multiple plotlines here, which Cavanagh weaves expertly and ties together so neatly. I just couldn’t spot the twists coming – and at nine books, I’m convinced that I should be able to do so by now!

I’ve been waiting quite a while for a new Steve Cavanagh book so I was excited and delighted to receive an advance copy of this one.
I’ve devoured it over the last two days and have enjoyed being reunited with Eddie Flynn and his associates. I love the way the author paces the story and intertwines several different threads that the reader doesn’t at first realise are connected. I also enjoy the clever twists …….just when we feel everything is lost and things are at rock bottom, Eddie pulls something out of the bag and turns things around.
It’s also interesting to read about the ‘baddy’ in this case, Logan. His early life and his motivations plus his finally falling in love are all great additions that add to the story.
If you’re only going to read one book this year then I suggest it’s this one!

Wow! I just couldn’t put this new Steve Cavanagh book down.
Twists, turns and another case for Eddie Flynn, con man turned lawyer and his team.
Influencer Ellie Parker likes to help people and do good turns.
One day a stranger she helps turns out to be more than a helpless passer by.
Accused of murder Ellie needs the help of Eddie but meanwhile Eddies ex wife and her partner are in trouble. Eddies partner Kate has to defend them
Will Eddies mind be on the Ellie Parker case or his ex wife’s?
I now can’t wait for another Steve Cavanagh book!

This has shot straight to my top thriller for 2025!!

Rating - 5⭐️

Eddie Flynn and Kate have their work cut out when they have to defend Elly. Elly is a TikTok star, made famous through her “Random Acts of Kindness”, until one day she helps the wrong stranger and ends up accused of double homicide…
Kate and Eddie have to put their heads together but it all goes wrong, when Eddies ex wife, Christine and her husband Kevin also end up on trial…

Wow wow wow. I’m shocked. This was amazing. So fast paced, multiple POVs, we got two “storylines” and so many twists I think I have vertigo. I was a bit miffed and then THE FINAL CHAPTER, it was everything I wanted. Go Steve this was SMART!!

I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book - just like the rest of Steve Cavanagh's books!

I just think it's so clever how each part of the storyline weaves its way together really well to come together at the end.

I loved the twist at the end - it was so satisfying!

Thank you to the author, publishers Headline and NetGalley UK for access to this as an advance reader’s ebook. This is an honest and voluntary review.

Ellie Parker built a social media following on a message of being kind to strangers. But when her kindness is met with murder only Eddie Flynn can possibly save her. That’s if Eddie can focus when his own family is also in the firing line.

Steve Cavanagh continues to rule the legal thriller. Another fantastic Eddie Flynn story that kept me gripped throughout and with a very satisfying final twist which even though I’d partially guessed paid off in an even better way than I’d hoped.

Captivating characters, well plotted and fantastically paced. Another great instalment in the Eddie Flynn series.

Thank you, Netgalley, and the publishers for the opportunity to read an advance copy.
I've read quite a few Eddie Flynn stories by the author Steve Cavanagh. They are all very entertaining and keep you turning the pages. Eddie and his team are all super clever, and I dont think have ever lost a court case. Eddie always manages to work out the truth against all odds. Just when you think all is lost Eddie comes through. This isn't really a spoiler as this is standard in all Eddie stories. So if you can suspend disbelief and enjoy a court case drama you'll find this very entertaining.

It’s been ages since I read an ‘Eddie Flynn’ but it didn’t take me long to get back into his world. A good read set in NYC and the courts, this time we see Eddie fighting for the truth for Elly, a Tik Tok star who found her husband in bed with her best friend. Days later they are found murdered and Elly is the prime suspect.
Interesting, days before Elly had helped a man at the tube station and found herself in a dangerous situation where she herself was poisoned, is this connected somehow?
Alongside this we have another storyline which includes Eddies family, both storylines weave together really well and the ending, for me, was satisfying.

Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Fast-paced, smart, and full of heart—Eddie Flynn is back in another addictive thriller.

When influencer Elly's good deed in Grand Central spirals into a public nightmare, Eddie steps in to untangle a case packed with twists, pressure, and a hidden enemy always one step ahead. Though courtroom drama takes a backseat this time, the tension, characters, and final twist more than deliver.

Another gripping installment—Eddie Flynn fans won't be disappointed!

Steve Cavanagh truly never misses! This book was great from the start. Action packed, twisty and the court room setting was really well done. Defo recommend as this would be perfect to get you out of a slump!

This is my first book by Steve Cavanagh, and despite not reading the rest in the Eddie Flynn series, feel this would be good as a stand alone too.

The story starts with Elly Parker, an internet celebrity who is known for her random acts of kindness. When she is betrayed by two people close to her, millions of people view it which makes her the perfect target for a seemingly random encounter, only to turn into her biggest nightmare.

This was a great read and I need to get the rest of the series now. Eddie Flynn, the ex-conman turned lawyer, seemingly still has some of his perhaps non-ethical ways about him, but surely that’s a given based on his background! It’s a fast paced page turner and for anyone who likes crime thrillers I’d 100% recommend.

This is the ninth in the series. In my opinion it should be read in order. If you liked the others in the series you will like this one too.
