Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wish You Were Her by J.E. Rowney is an entertaining and fast-paced read that kept me curious, especially as I tried to figure out the central betrayal at the heart of the story. The psychological element was one of my favorite parts, and I appreciated how the author explored the characters’ inner lives.
That said, I personally prefer darker thrillers, so this one felt a bit lighter than I’m used to. Some of the twists were a little predictable or leaned toward the unrealistic side, and the ending wrapped up more quickly than I would have liked. Still, that’s more about personal taste than a flaw in the writing itself.
Overall, I think this would be a great choice for readers looking for a light mystery with psychological layers. It’s the kind of book I’d recommend as a mysterious beach read that won’t weigh you down but will still keep you turning pages.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my review. Although it is not a great literary work, it is a fast paced beach read.

Another fantastic story by J.E Rowney! Loved it from the start and read it in two days! Fantastic highly recommend

A quick, entertaining thriller with just enough tension to keep the pages turning. Samantha, down on her luck and stuck in a dead-end life, reconnects with an old university friend after liking an Instagram post.
Erin, now successful and seemingly living the perfect life invites Sam to Aruba for what looks like a dream escape. But beneath the sunshine, there’s a simmering sense of unease—old grudges, hidden agendas, and a friendship that was far from perfect.
The setup is intriguing, and I liked the slow unravelling of their dynamic. But some of the twists, especially the cat-and-mouse about who was really pulling the wool over whose eyes, felt a bit contrived and unrealistic. I didn’t feel as connected to the characters as I’d hoped, but it’s still a fast, easy read if you’re after a light thriller with a tropical backdrop.

This was an easy read. I hated the antagonist up until the very end. She infuriated me. I’m the end o just felt sad for her, but it was satisfying to see someone “get what they deserve”. The book follows the main character on the brink of disaster, alone in a hotel room, beyond broke, until she likes the Instagram post of an old “friend”, a woman who is everything she is not, rich successful. She has it all. This woman offers the main character an all expenses paid opportunity to turn her life around, but as always, there’s a catch.
Would highly recommend this book if you’re looking for something you can finish in a couple of days.

I read this so fast! The psychology in this is insane and so interesting!!! Loved it!
I love this authors books she is a must read for me.

Couldn’t put this one down—each chapter left me needing to know what was next. The story follows Samantha, who escapes to Aruba after hitting rock bottom, only to find herself caught in a tense reunion with an old friend hiding dangerous secrets. Twisty, tense, and full of surprises, the ending really delivers.

The synopsis is what drew me in and I enjoyed this book so much. I finished it fairly quickly as it's a quick read. I loved the characters in this and how calculated they are. By the end of this book I soon realized just how far some people will go to rewrite their story

Wish You Were Here by J.E. Rowley was such an easy, quick read. I flew through it! The writing kept me hooked from the start, and just when I thought I had things figured out, the ending completely shocked me. My jaw literally dropped. I almost feel like there has to be a book two, there’s so much more I want to know! If you’re looking for a fast-paced story with a wild twist, this one’s worth picking up.
Thank you Net Galley for an advanced read of this book. I truly enjoyed it.

I received an arc of this book in exchange for my review
I didn’t know much about this before going in but I ended up really enjoying it
A tale of two former best friends one down on her luck and one living the high life off her friends ideas
The twists and the turns weren’t on every page like the books I normally read but it did turn out SO good in the end! Just one giant therapy session with both main characters spilling everything!

This was a fast-paced mystery thriller. It was a really easy, fun read that I got through in one sitting. It revolves around Sam, who has hit rock-bottom, and her ex-best-friend, Erin, who offers her help. The author did a great job at establishing an eery, tense atmosphere - I knew something was off but couldn't pin point exactly what, so I just couldn't put the book down! I would have liked some more plot development - I think some of the characters and plot points were kind of flat. I also thought the end was too many plot twists all at once, giving it an almost comical quality. But overall it was a quick & enjoyable read!

Wellllllll doneeee bravo when I say this book has got me out of my reading slump it has its so good such a page tuner !!!!!! Period I will be recommending this in the facebook book cubs for sure this has been THE BEST BOOK I HAVE READ THIS YEAR OMGGGGGGG I LOVED THE HELL OUT OF THIS BOOK THIS BOOK HAS MADE ME OPEN MY EYES TO THE HIGH AND LOW OF FRIENDSHIP

Samantha is at rock bottom when her old frenemy Erin reaches out and offers her a tropical escape. But relaxation isn't exactly on the menu, secrets, rivalries, manipulation, and revenge are. This story is the epitome of a psychological thriller. The emotional and relationship dynamics take center stage and the character's flaws are well explored. There are some great twists and the setting makes it all the more better.

This is a fast-paced book about toxic female friendship. Erin and Sam were at university together, but their lives have taken very different turns, and they have been estranged for many years. They reconnect and Erin offers to help Sam, an offers her work on a Caribbean island retreat. The plot gets a bit far-fetched in places, but kept me interested. Good for the beach.

I was hooked right from the first chapter….wondering what tore Sam & Erin’s friendship apart and why they stopped talking. I was on the edge on my seat during the entire book - great unexpected twists and turns. The ending was perfect!!! Go Sam!!

I quite enjoyed this JE Rowney book.
Once I got into the story of Erin & Samantha I was went down let say the rabbit hole of the repercussions of the past six years.
Cat and mouse game. Who was winning and who was actually losing. You can always build yourself back up even when you’re at your lowest point. Rock bottom.
There’s definitely a life lesson to be learned even if it doesn’t end up costing you twenty thousand pounds.
Four star read!!
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this read.

It appears this book comes out today so I’m leaving a review for the portion I have read before this gets archived.
What I love:
-the cover
-the premise
-writing style
-humor
Update: I did in fact download this on kindle unlimited to experience it finalized and the text message formatting had not been adjusted. This and the slang is making it difficult to connect with this one. I sampled until 20% and could not get into it.
I’m hooked already and was slightly annoyed with the formatting for the text messages anyways so I may just get the published book instead.
Thank you for the eARC. I am leaving this honest feedback voluntarily.

I just finished Wish You Were Her. It was not what I expected but I very much enjoyed it. It’s a story about two women who were once best friends but all of that changed when one steals from the other and what happens in each others lives as a result. It kept me interested throughout the book. It’s a five star read for me! If you’re looking for something to read, I would definitely recommend this book!

This is my second read by J.E. Rowney. Wish You Were Her had me hooked from the very first chapter and I was really
Intrigued to see whether the story would go. I did find that some of the storyline had a few gaps that I would have liked to see explored in further depth, but overall I enjoyed the concept and give it 3 stars!

Thank you Netgalley! This is my second book by this author and I am hooked. I was left shocked by the twists and turns in this book. I could feel the pain of the characters and sympathized what they were going through
