A good illustration on how finding a dog that is compatible with you is important. Loved the illustration style and how different all the dogs were, especially with their unique names.

4⭐️ Let me say this, normally I wouldn’t have reviewed a children’s book, but I wanted to make an exception for this one! As a kid, I absolutely loved dogs and books, so this felt nostalgic in the best way.

The plot is super unique for a children's story, I don't remember seeing anything like this when I was younger. The illustrations for this book were adorable and really matched each dog's personality. It's a mix of a sweet wholesome story with a tad humor. I know my little cousins would've loved this book especially for an afternoon read!

Dog Interview is an admirable children's picture book about a young boy on a mission to interview and find the absolutely perfect dog. With whimsical characters and a thorough plotline, this book will most surely entertain children. Following the boy's interviews of every dog who answers his ads and comes his way provides for an optimally enhanced reading delight.

The artwork of this was lovely! I have adopted 2 dogs myself so i know what it's like trying to find the 'perfect' dog only for it to be the one you least expected! Great message and we loved reading it together :)

A sweet and adorable tale of a little boy looking for his long-wanted best friend. Adorable premise and wonderful artwork. My nephew enjoyed every moment of this one.

How could I give this book anything but 5 stars? It feels like the author summed up every dog lovers dream <3

When Jeff is finally old enough to get his own dog, he holds interviews to find the perfect dog (for him). He meets many dogs, but non of them is quite right. One is too boring. One is too aggressive. Many don't want to play fetch. And just when Jeff thinks he will never find the perfect dog and tosses the stick away in frustration, a dog jumps out of the bushes to fetch the stick for him.

Warning: Don't give this book to your kids if you don't want to get a dog. Because I have a feeling any kid reading this story and looking at the beautiful illustrations will feel greatly inspired to also hold dog interviews.

What a cute book! This is perfect for all ages, but best for intermediate readers for solo reading! It's a cute story about a boy who wants to get a dog. The illustrations were absolutely adorable as well. Will definitely be a new staple bedtime story in our household!

Hmmm… A child spends his first few years waiting for the time he can get a dog, but when he puts adverts out in the neighbourhood and the dogs respond, which one is he to choose, and how? This successfully shows the need for human and canine to be suitable and suitably matched, but it almost makes it too easy, and I can see some children triggered into pestering for a pet as a result of these pages. And I really don't like books that have that result. Because I'm on the fence with this one I will let it slip, but it could well be an issue. Perhaps this is best read when you do have the pets you can get by with, and are safe from demands of more. I mean it's not brilliant – it's almost as broad in telling as the art is cartoonish and colourful, but the talking interviews with the mutts is a distinguishing factor here.

Ahh what a loveable story. Really liked this. The drawings of the dogs is cute, somewhat realistic and captures each dogs personality that is interviewed. I was chuckling to myself because I have met each of these dogs before and sometimes it does take some interviewing. The message here is wonderful for kids. Getting a dog is an important decision and it matters which dog. Jeff patiently waits for the right time and realizes that finding the dog that will play with him and fit in is not so easy. You can't just pick the first one or the one that looks "right". Happy ending, pictures match the story and over all good kids books

I wanted to like this book more than I did but I wasn’t expecting the dogs to speak. However I found the art style cute and did love the idea of this book so I’d definitely recommend it to children

A charming and clever picture book that flips the traditional pet adoption story by having a young boy, Jeff, interview dogs to find his perfect match. Each dog brings a unique and humorous personality, making the process both entertaining and meaningful. With engaging dialogue, playful illustrations, and a heartwarming message about connection and thoughtfulness, this book teaches kids the value of listening, asking questions, and choosing companionship wisely. It’s a delightful read for dog lovers and families alike.

Thanks to NetGalley and Amplify Publishing for this advanced reading copy of Dog Interview. This book was released on June 3rd.

A fun story on a child’s first dog; this book has readers laughing over talking dogs who interview to be the boy’s dog. This book has great illustrations and words easy to sound out. My seven year old laughed as she read this with me. I can’t wait to buy this for my library!

How do you find the perfect dog? After impatiently waiting for years, Jeff faces the problem of too many dogs to decide between. Even when he interviews them, it really isn't helpful even if the dogs are decidedly honest. Love the illustrations by Juan Diaz that so perfectly captured the various dog personalities.

I was actually hooked from the opening but won't spoil the fun for you. I'll just say you'll root for Jeff and be wondering which of the many dogs you'd pick yourself. I definitely liked how the not-so-perfect dog finds Jeff. As is to often the case, the dog chooses us. In any case, this is a fun, quick read that will surely delight young dog lovers everywhere. You'll meet Jeff at a very young age, learn his early doggie thoughts and his first word, which I'm sure you can guess.

So, fun story, cute, lively illustrations full of energy and personality, and a happily ever after ending. Thanks #AmplifyPublishing for sharing this with me. Even better, I read it aloud to me own furry friend and she gives it four paws up and a tail wag.

A beautifully illustrated little children’s book I thoroughly enjoyed reading with my son. About finding the perfect puppy friend to join your family. Incredibly sweet and gentle book.

This book is utterly adorable!! The first great aspect of this book was how the author set up the story using a popular and highly relatable kids' book theme: wanting a puppy. Secondly, this book was unique because it took a popular theme and added something new to it. The new thing that was woven into this story was interviewing various dogs to see if they are the perfect pet for the main character. I thought that this was such a fun and different idea, and it made for a very entertaining and well-rounded story. The author did a spectacular job of giving each dog interviewee a distinct and fun personality, and it was such a joy to read. Lastly, the illustrations were absolutely amazing! They were crisp and vibrant, and truly brought each dog AND each dog's personality to life. The illustrator's ability to connect the visuals with the writing so well was highly impressive. I had so much fun reading this book, and I know for certain that so many kids will enjoy it as well!

I loved the story, its just so cute. Dog interview is a cute little story of trying to find the perfect dog, and the relationship with your first dog when you've been wanting one your whole life.

I absolutely loved the illustrations and how they've been able to distinguish the dogs from each other and their different personalities.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
