I had never heard of this travel series before, but I look forward to checking out others in the series. This is such a cute book. The pictures are brightly colored and sure to catch a child's attention. If a child had just visited, or was getting ready to visit, Chicago, this would be a fun way to remember or introduce the city. It's nice to see things from Kayan's (a kid's) perspective. The fact that the book rhymes is also a nice addition. The illustrations are a lovely accompaniment to the story. Key landmarks are easily identifiable by those who have visited the city. This would be a great book for a parent/grandparent/teacher/etc to read with a child.

Kayan goes to Chicago looks like a fun book for my 6 year old nephew. They live within blocks of several sites featured in this book.
(Although my nephew wouldn't like finding out that he shouldn't put ketchup on his food!)
Fun graphics, poetic verses.
Many thanks to NetGalley, author Rohit Loomba, illustrations by Margherita Passarini, and publisher Arashi Publishing for approving my request to read the advance read copy in exchange for an honest review. approx 26 pages, publication date is July 1, 2025.

A children’s book, Kayan Goes to Chicago (2025) by Rohit Loomba is another colourful travel tale. Often referred to as the Windy City, Chicago, Illinois is Kayan’s hometown. A rhyming narrative captures the feel of key locations, buildings, and landmarks that are further enhanced with realistic illustrations. A bright, colourful, book that preschoolers will love, and older children can read along to and learn about one of the world’s wonderful cities. So overall, an enjoyable educational story that young children will love and has a delightful four star do not miss read rating. As always, the opinions herein are totally my own, freely given and without any inducement. With thanks to Arashi Publishing and the author for an uncorrected advanced review copy for review purposes.

A good little book giving children an informative insight into Chicago through the eyes of child. Will definitely be taking this into classrooms once I'm qualified, I know a lot of my geography enthusiasts will love this.

I love that this is a tourist/travel book for kids, but with the additional element of illustrations and rhyme. We had a fun time reading and it the illustrations were bright and engaging. I wish the monuments had addresses for the landmarks printed too, so we could truly have called it a travel guide for kids.
Otherwise it almost is akin to visiting Chicago in book form.

Such a fun way to learn all about Chicago! I feel like this book will help inspire the love of travel but also the love of your hometown. I am super excited for future books of Kayan's travels and can't wait to share them with my nanny kids when we are learning about different places!

Another sweet children's book for all of those little explorers out there. The artwork is bright and engaging. Having been to Chicago many times in my life, this one is spot on for the sights and sounds of the Windy City. My nephew really enjoyed this one.

Kayan Goes to Chicago is a bright and cheerful picture book that takes young readers on a mini adventure through one of America’s most iconic cities. Kayan introduces kids to Chicago’s buildings, museums, and tasty local treats, all through fun language and bold illustrations that are perfect for storytime. I really enjoyed reading it with my niece—she kept pointing out the food pages and asking when we could go there in real life! It’s a great little book for travel-loving families or anyone curious about the Windy City.

My son & I absolutely loved this!! We recognized all the landmarks from our recent trip to Chicago and it was fun reciting memories in-between pages as well. The book is beautifully illustrated with colorful imagery throughout. A great read for any child interested in the Windy City or travel!

Windy City Wonders with Kayan!
Kayan Goes to Chicago is a pint-sized passport to the Windy City, packed with color, curiosity, and all the deep-dish joy a kiddo could dream of—yep, I wanted to tag along!

Okay, if your kiddo’s been bitten by the travel bug (or you just need something to distract them that isn’t a screen), Kayan Goes to Chicago is the ticket! 🏙️🍕 This book is so stinkin’ cute I actually said “aww” out loud—like, twice. Kayan makes Chi-town look like the coolest place ever, and the illustrations? Hello, eye candy for little eyes! If you’ve got a tiny adventurer in your life, they’ll eat this up faster than a deep-dish slice. 🎒✨

A very good book geared to little kids, giving a bit of a tour through Chicago. It tells about quite a few fun stops/sights in the city.....that kids.... & adults too, would enjoy.........& from a kid's perspective. The art work is great, very colorful & appropriately drawn.......for kids & adults to relate to!
I just learned that this Kayan has a series of travel books......if this is any indication of the other books.....they've got a good thing going! This is real good!
I received a complimentary e-ARC of the book from Arashi Publishing LLC via NetGalley for review purposes & this is my own fair & honest review.

This was a cute, colorful, friendly picture book about visiting Chicago, and it really covered a lot of the important attractions a kid might see. This would be fun for a kid who likes to travel and for a kid wanting to remember a fun trip they've already taken.

I love this book! I'll start this review by talking about the writing. The author's decision to make this book rhyme and have a couplet format was a smart choice! The story flowed very nicely and it, somehow, added to the wondrous tone of the book. It's very impressive that the author managed to spark a specific emotion in the reader, just with help from the writing style. Additionally, the rhymes that I saw weren't ones that were overused, but they were unique and still worked.
Although, this book definitely would not be complete without the stunning visuals. It was apparent that the illustrator did their homework! Key locations, buildings, and landmarks were able to be easily identified by the reader, even if these things weren't explicity mentioned in the writing. Additionally, it was almost as if readers were looking at real pictures of Chicago as they read, because the illustrations were so detailed and true-to-life.
Everything about this book was just so impressive; bravo!!

A small child explores Chicago. This book has clunky attempts at rhyming text and beautiful colors, but imagery that wasn’t personally my favorite style. While visiting the locations around Chicago was a great concept, the execution didn’t do it for me.

This book is so cute! I have never been to Chicago before, but now I want to go and see all of the places mentioned. I bet the kids I babysit would love this one too!

Before reading this book, I didn’t know about the Kayan Travel series—but I’m really glad I found it! This fun story follows Kayan as he shows us around his hometown, Chicago. He takes us to some of the city’s most famous places, fun museums, and shares his favorite foods. It’s a great way to help kids learn about a new city from a kid’s point of view.
The pictures in the book are bright, colorful, and full of life, which makes it really fun to look at. I think this is a great book for young kids, especially if they’re getting ready to visit Chicago or just want to learn about somewhere new. Whether they’re reading it on their own or listening to someone read it to them, this book is a fun way to explore. I definitely recommend it!
A huge thanks to NetGalley, the author & the publisher for the opportunity to read this advanced copy.
