I enjoyed both the individual ideas of what Nova Scotia is to different people. It illustrations feel authentic and fun. Fun book to read

Beautiful illustrations — I can easily see this book becoming a popular keepsake in tourist shops across the region. I’ve never been to Nova Scotia, but after reading this, I really want to visit!
The artwork by Martyna Czub, originally from Poland and now living in Canada since 2016, adds a special warmth and authenticity. Through her gentle, detailed style, I could truly feel how much she cherishes her new home — it's as if she’s painting it with love and fresh admiration.

OK, this is not designed to be a book for everyone - but for those with an affinity for Nova Scotia, it's going to be a firm winner. There's a touch too much naivety (for want of a better word) in the watercolour art for me, but not so in the text, which might be simple rhymes - one couplet per spread - but ones done with a fine quality. This is a Nova Scotia where the narrator is more than able to praise the people, the nature and landscapes, and the togetherness, making it seem really appealing. Like I say, this pride-filled volume has a self-limiting audience, but certainly proves itself capable of doing what it intended.

'My Nova Scotia is an ocean breeze
With sand at my feet and rustling trees'
Oh this made me so terribly emotional in the best way! I missed Nova Scotia more and more with every page. Anyone who has ever been there or lived there knows how lovely and homey and cosy a place it is. From the beaches to the valleys to the forests, it is a place unlike any other and this little book of rhymes about Nova Scotia brought me so much joy! The illustrations are just gorgeous and the message is so dear to my heart.
HIGHLY recommend!
Thank you Netgalley for the eARC.

Fun story about living in Nova Scotia told in rhyme and which could easily be sung as a sort of lullaby for a younger child. I enjoyed all of the elements of Maritime life that were incorporated in this book, and the illustrations worked really well to complement the text.
This book would be an excellent gift for new parents form the area or who have roots there, and it is also just a great way to understand some of the different ways in which people live and participate in their world even within the same country or continent.
Definitely one to put on the bedtime story list.

This stunningly illustrated story of Nova Scotia and the beautiful scenery, vibrant people, and deep-rooted traditions that make it unique is one that your kids will want you to pick up time and time again! I found myself soothed by the simple rhyming words and drawn in by the texture of the pictures. If this story doesn't make you want to visit Nova Scotia, then I don't know what will!

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A beautiful book about what Nova Scotia looks like and means to a young girl. Having visited there myself, I think the author picked all of the most beautiful parts and pieces of the area.

I just loved the watercolors and gorgeous language in this picture book. The people who created this clearly love Nova Scotia, and there was such a feeling of love and belonging to this special area. Many thanks to NetGalley for this ebook.

My Nova Scotia is a beautiful heartfelt ode to all things that make the province special. It’s a cultural exploration through rhyming and watercolors that will transport readers on the spot. This is a perfect first introduction, or a comforting taste of home. A great addition to any little library collection, and an elegant way to learn about a faraway place.

My Nova Scotia is a beautifully illustrated and poetic picture book about Nova Scotia, Canada. The rhyming structure is great for younger kids as it provides them a sense of predictability in the story. Many parts of Nova Scotian culture, environment and activities are presented throughout the story. This would be a great book for to have for students who are learning about Canada as it provides a focused, yet fun look at Nova Scotia.
Thank you NetGalley, Nimbus Publishing & Lindsay Ruck for providing me with the opportunity to read My Nova Scotia.

This is such a beautiful and well-made book! I loved the poetic approach to writing this book, as it really helps every aspect of Nova Scotia sink in. It also allows for the book to have a more "free" feel to it, rather than it being in the sometimes rigid format of a structured story. Another great thing about this book was how diverse it was. The author made a point to include many different aspects of Nova Scotia's culture, and no detail was left out. Adding onto that, the illustrations had so many different types of people in them, and I give lots of credit to both the author and illustrator for making this such a well-rounded and thorough book. I have no doubt that this book will be so special to little ones that live in Nova Scotia. Bravo!
