It took a while for me to get into this book and there were some areas where I felt the plot was weak, but overall I enjoyed the story a lot until the cliche third act breakup. Up until then, it was a four star. I also found a wedding after only six months together very unrealistic and unsatisfying.

ARC review
Publication date 28 Oct 25

3,5 stars

"Stupid Magical Love" by Amy Boyles is a cute and a bit spicy romance with a side of magic.

I received an e-ARC from Montlake (via Netgalley).
Opinions from this review are completely my own.

Rowe lives at a farm in Mystic Meadows, a small town that used to have magic.
Her family used to sell piggycorns, but no one is interested in them now.

Pane is in a competition with his twin brother to become the president of a luxury hotel chain.
He has 60 days to save a struggling business and he goes to Mystic Meadows.

This book was a quick and entertaining read, but some things were a bit exaggerated.
I liked the banter between Rowe and Pane and his development as a character.
Also, the piggycorns and unicorns were so cute.

But the farm problems we solved so quicky in an attempt of magical twist after they worked so much to turn it in a spa.

If you are looking for a quick read to put a smile on your face and you like grumpy/sunshine characters (and magic), this is for you.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley, and wow—Stupid Magical Love was such a cozy, funny, and feel-good read. From the very first chapter, I was hooked by the quirky charm of the piggycorn farm and the witty banter between Rowe and Pane. The perfect blend of small-town magic, humor, and just the right amount of spice made it an absolute delight. I loved watching the dynamic between the sassy, determined farm girl and the polished, city-slicker-turned-farmhand evolve—both heartwarming and entertaining. This book had me smiling throughout, and I flew through it in just a couple of sittings. It even pulled me out of a reading slump, which says a lot. If you're looking for something light, magical, and romantic with plenty of laughs, I highly recommend it.

This is a bit silly (piggycorns) but irresistibly sweet, even though I kept wondering who the demographic would be I couldn’t help but love the magic and the world created. There was no angst typically found in magical romances (vampire novels for example) and maybe that was for the best, truly original and interesting.

Stupid Magical Love is a light, cozy rom com full of whimsy, humor, and just the right touch of magic. The grumpy/sunshine romance between Rowe and Pane starts off a bit rocky, but their slow burn relationship grew on me as the story unfolded. The small town setting and magical piggycorn (pigs with unicorn horns) farm add tons of charm and really was adorable. It was a really unique and quirky concept. While the characters are a little over the top and the writing can be repetitive at times, I do think it’s all part of the fun. The characters were hard to root for and maybe even somewhat annoying, especially in the beginning, but they grew on me as the book went on. If you are looking for something sweet, silly, and heartwarming, then you will enjoy this. This is the type of book that as long as you see it as fun and do not take it too seriously, you will love it for what it is. However, if you want something that takes itself more seriously, then maybe choose something else.

Thank you to NetGalley, Amy Boyles, and Montlake for the eARC of this book.

Thank you to Amy Boyles, Montlake publishing and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was such a fun read! If you like:

❤️ Grumpy/Sunshine
❤️ Small town (with magical elements)
❤️ Adorable magical creatures
❤️ A touch of spice
❤️ Slow burn romance
❤️ Cozy vibes

I think you may really like this.

Rowe and Pane were adorable together. Pane is in a contest with his brother as to who can turn the most profit out of a dying business. Rowe is struggling to keep her piggycorn business alive and is facing foreclosure. They work together to turn things around even when everything seems to be working against them.

There’s also plenty of laugh out loud moments and the piggycorns are just plain adorable - yes it’s exactly as it sounds… they’re little piggies with unicorn horns on their head.

I’m usually not a huge fan of cozy/small town romance but this book just worked for me.

This was such a sweet (and a little spicy!) second-chance romance that tugged at my heartstrings. I loved seeing Laney and Connor navigate their shared history, old wounds, and lingering feelings with honesty and vulnerability.

At times, the heartbreak felt a little overdone or dramatic—but I still appreciated how raw and real their pain was. It gave depth to their healing process and made their eventual reunion feel earned.

Overall, there was a beautiful balance of emotional growth and flirty fun, wrapped in a cozy, wintery setting that made it perfect for a seasonal read.

If you’re in the mood for a feel-good, fast-paced romantic comedy with a sprinkle of magic, Stupid Magical Love is exactly what you need. This book is so cute!

We’ve got a classic grumpy-sunshine dynamic with Rowe—a lovable bad luck charm trying to claw her way out of family debt—and Pane, a broody rich entrepreneur who shows up to help save her farm… and maybe the magic of her entire town. The chemistry is sweet, the small-town charm is strong, and did I mention the piggiecorn? Because I now desperately want one.

This was a quick, delightful read that didn’t take itself too seriously and left me smiling. Perfect for a cozy weekend escape or when you need a little enchantment in your day.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the advanced reader copy!

This was a very cute and lighthearted book. It was such a cozy read, and I really liked the magical setting of the book. I was a bit not a big fan of the relationship in the beginning, some of the things that they were saying and kinda the way they act, a bit like a child's, was a bit irritating. But as the story goes on you kinda start liking the characters more, and rooting for the female lead to get her life better.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Amy Boyles for the gifted ARC. All opinions are my own.

Okay this was like so cute and where do I get a piggycorn? Honestly I was a bit wary in the beginning, worried that this might be too cheesy but in my opinion this was the perfect amount of cheesy romcom. It’s the type that makes you want to curl up with a hot drink and just giggle to yourself. I loved nearly all the characters (looking at you Luke and Sally) because they seemed so heartwarming and Pane was a nice amount of cocky. I genuinely really enjoyed this and can recommend it if you like a light fun romcom!

Magic, hotel moguls and biscuits oh my! This book absolutely stole my heart and was such a fun read. The energy between Pane and Rowe throughout the whole book was so well done. The hating in the beginning and the magic that comes through at the end. Wasn't really enemies to lovers but something lighter and just as satisfying. Made me want to go out and find the magic out there and get a piggycorn of my own!

I didn’t quite know what to expect before I started reading this book. I was pleasantly surprised by the cuteness factor of the book. It very much has a cozy, magical, cute vibe that I absolutely loved. Rowe has been beat down by truly awful people that absolutely took advantage of her sunny outlook on life and general helpful personality. Pane has been raised to be the best at what he does, as well as what it means to be one of the heirs to the Maddox Group. Even though they start off as absolute enemies who just happen to have the same goal, they both learn that there is more to life than how they have been living so far. This was a fun ride, with cozy, autumn vibes that I would highly recommend to read.

Charming, sassy, magical - with a full serving of banter. I LOVED this! It was such a fun read. Perfect little magical palette cleanser (with enough laughs to have you turning every page).

I liked the premise of this book but it was a little hard for me to get into. While it was a cute story overall, I found it to be a bit all over the place at times. I’m also not sure I fully bought into Pane’s sudden change from cold and closed off to head over heels.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A charming, magical romance with sass, steam, and just enough heartache to keep you hooked.

This book was an absolute delight! Rowe Wadley is the kind of heroine you instantly root for—fiery, funny, and fiercely loyal to her struggling piggycorn farm. And Pane Maddox? The classic uptight city guy with a hidden soft side that unfolds beautifully as the story progresses. Watching these two clash, banter, and eventually fall for each other was both hilarious and heartwarming.

The stakes felt real—saving the farm, proving worth, and navigating the line between temporary partnership and lasting love. I especially loved the unique setting (a magical farm with piggycorns? Yes, please!) and the slow burn chemistry that sizzled more with every chapter.

Why not five stars? The pacing dipped a bit in the middle, and I wanted a deeper dive into the magical elements that were teased but never fully explored. Still, the emotional payoff was totally worth it.

If you're looking for a spicy, small-town romance with a dash of magic and a whole lot of heart, this one’s worth betting on. 💫🌾🐷🦄
