“Call you anytime?”
“Yeah, baby, call me anytime.”

Hannah May has been taking care of her mother since she was 12. As the only child, she has been in charge of keeping her mom safe with her Alzheimer’s diagnosis and it has required a lot of sacrifices. The most recent one is her new job at Call Me Anytime. Nothing like finding out you’re interviewing for a Phone sex line while in the interview ! But the money is good so she needs it.

Detective Dominic Dunn has been a detective for years in Nashville but this new case is his craziest one yet. Two phone sex workers have been found dead, in order to stop a potential third they need to listen in on the line and see if they can find the culprit.

“Dominic Dunn is starting to feel an awful lot like my safe place. And that might be the most dangerous thought I’ve had yet.”

This was such a fun read. Hannah certainly had no idea what she was doing on her calls, no sexual experience led to a lot of rhyming and awkward adjectives on her end. I also loved Hannah’s mother so much! Just a heartwarming and hilarious read!

🔥: “Let me see what your eyes look like when I’m inside you.”

Hannah is has been taking care of her mother, who has Alzheimer's, since she was 12. Her dad died shortly beforehand, so she finds herself in financial trouble. She needs a job, so she interviews for a telemarketing job, or so she thought.

As it turns out, she interviewed for a phone sex job. The pay is too tempting, so she decides to give it a try. Did I mention that she's a virgin? What could possibly go wrong?

Her first call is a detective (Dominic) that is trying to get information on a murder case, which she soon finds herself wrapped up in.

While the book does feature her mother with Alzheimer's, and it certainly does impact her life, this story features the more humorous side of it. Her mom watches NCIS on repeat, and thinks everything is an episode. It isn't as heavy as others I've read have been, and didn't leave me depressed. The suspense in the book is also not overly suspenseful, which I like.

Overall, I enjoyed this book!

While I enjoy Max Monroe books, this book's premise had me so intrigued and I could not wait to read it. The characters were all people who I wish were in my life for more than the time that I was able to spend with them while reading.

The FMC, Hannah, was someone I could identify with so strongly: an only child, who had to grow up way too soon and has taken on way more responsibility than someone her age should have had to assume. Hannah is trudging through with a smile and grace, holding things together with a needle and thread when she has to find a new job. What she thought was going to be a standard telemarketer gig turns out to be a phone sex line and while that is TOTALLY out of her wheelhouse, given that she's still a virgin (see WAY more responsibility than she should above), the pay and the need to have a job to make ends meet leads her to take on the role of "Ruby".

Enter the MMC, Dom, a local police detective who is Hannah's first call. Dom is just following up on the most recent number dialed as part of his investigation so when all of his inquiries are taken as sexual innuendo, it is not what he is expecting.

Hannah's naivete leads to hilarious interactions on her line that will have tears running down your face. Dom's support and encouragement as they build a relationship while he investigates a murder is everything you'd want from your ultimate book boyfriend.

This book addresses numerous tough topics with compassion and humor. I am already excited to read it again.

Call Me Anytime is a hilarious multifaceted rom-com/crime crossover featuring a 25 year old virgin sex hotline operator, a killer with a penchant for call girls & a cowboy hat wearing, karaoke singing homicide detective who’s trying to solve the case.

This book has so many layers & is a complete emotional rollercoaster. I laughed at Hannah’s horrendously awkward call girl communication ‘style’, felt apprehensive about who the murderer could be & cried at the beautiful portrayal of Hannah’s Mom’s Alzheimer’s. (Sherry’s character might bring a tear to your eye but she’ll put a smile on your face too)

The plot itself was strong but the crime portion was lacking. For what felt like a good 60% of the book, the investigation hardly moved. There were no big breaks in the case or precarious situations where characters attempted to follow sketchy leads etc. It was only towards the end of the book that things kicked into gear but at that point it felt like an entire books worth of chaos was crammed into a couple of chapters..

Overall, Call Me Anytime was an enjoyable, easy going, entertaining read. Filled with quick wit & banter, if you wanted to read it in 1 sitting you definitely could. It had humour & heartache, spice & suspense & was chock full of amazing characters.

• Hannah May (FMC) is sweet, spicy & fiercely independent. For years her needs have come second to her Mom who is battling Alzheimer’s but she wouldn’t have it any other way. Endearing & selfless, she is so deserving of love & so easy to root for!
• Detective Dominic Dunn (MMC)… what a guy. With a natural instinct to protect those around him, he’s the kind of guy who will drop everything & come running. I loved his relationship with Sherry (Hannah’s Mom) & his partnership with Shane was hilarious. Like Hannah, he is so easy to root for & I’m so glad they found each other.

Call Me Anytime was a really enjoyable book & the unique plot made for a very entertaining story! The writing style was easy to follow & great at building suspense so whilst I wish there would’ve been more movement/exploration on the crime front, it was still a fun mystery to follow. The sharp wit, banter & humour was on another level & those calls!? I genuinely had to step away & grab a snack because I couldn’t read through the tears of laughter!! This was a fantastic introduction to Max Monroe & I’m excited to explore further!

📣 Thank you so much to NetGalley & Max Monroe for the open opportunity to read & review this ARC. This honest review consists solely of my own thoughts & I’m leaving it voluntarily.

I really loved this book. It was funny in the start, but at the 25% mark it become something deeper. I loved the caracthers. I loved that it had a hint of suspense and mistery. It was a little bit sad too, because Hannah has a life soo hard with her mom. I loved that her mom besides she has Alzheimer's she can say very meaningful things and have good ideas. In my opinion the best thing in this book is the dedication at the first page. What i did not like was the third act conflict. It was in my opinion a bit childish from Hannah's side, but i can understand her too. I loved soo much the chemistry between them. I am thinking that i am buying the book when it will release because i like soo much the cover :)

Thanks for the ARC Netgalley and the authors and Montlake

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

This book was such a fun mix of rom-com, murder mystery, and heartfelt family moments. Hannah, our awkward virgin FMC turned phone sex worker, was hilariously relatable, half the time I had secondhand embarrassment for her, but her out of pocket one-liners during calls had me cackling. What I really loved is that her virginity was never treated as a negative. The story kept it lighthearted and funny when it came to the phone sex, but Dom never judged or made her feel less than when it came up during the intimate moments.

Dom, the grumpy cop/billionaire MMC (yes, he’s both), sometimes leaned more toward protective father figure than love interest in the first half, especially with how often he mentioned shielding her from the world, but he grew on me. His softer side came through in ways that melted me, like how he started watching NCIS just to keep Hannah’s mom, who has Alzheimer’s, comfortable. That detail absolutely got me. 🥹 I also loved how his family embraced Sherri, forming a genuine bond with her. The portrayal of Alzheimer’s wasn’t perfectly medically accurate in my opinion, but it was still insightful and handled with care.

The romance itself went from zero to a hundred pretty quickly, jumping from Hannah being an awkward virgin to full-blown relationship, but the chemistry was still sweet and believable. I did side-eye Dom’s weekly Broadway trips (red flag? maybe 😂), and the whole “cowboy karaoke” alter ego felt a little out of place with Dom’s otherwise protective detective vibe, I personally could’ve done without that.

The writing style was super easy to read, which made the story flow quickly and kept me hooked from start to finish. Between the laugh out loud moments, Hannah’s love and loyalty to her mom, and fast-paced murder mystery that tied cleverly back to the NCIS mentions, this book was a fun read!

Overall: 4⭐️/2🌶
Dual POV
Virgin FMC
Third act breakup 😭
Billionaire MMC
Detective MMC
Rom Com
Age gap (25/35)
Murder Mystery
Parent with Alzheimer’s rep

This book was so cheesy and adorkable, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I literally went into this book with zero expectations just a love for Max Monroe books. And I knew these ladies wouldn’t disappoint. “Call Me Anytime” had me laughing and smiling the whole way through.

First can I talk about my love for our FMC Hannah. I have never related to a FMC like I did with her. She is so awkward and heartbreakingly hilarious. Watching her be take in a sex phone operator while being a virgin was absolutely hilarious. Even though she had that side of her we can’t forget Hannah is also a kick butt FMC. She is taking care of her ill mother, and responsible for paying all bills to their livelihood. I don’t know many who can walk in Hannah’s shoes and I have to give her mad respect for her strength and perseverance.

Then we have our MMC Dominic. Ladies I give up a top tiered book boyfriend so buckle up! Now he is a little grumpy, but when it comes to our girl he falls quick and will bend over backwards to protect her. Now he was a little bit of idiot at like the 70% range. But don’t worry he and Hannah work it out like healthy consenting adults.

I seriously can’t say anything negative about this book and if you haven’t already guessed I highly recommend this book. Please pick it up when it releases this November the story, the love and the banter isn’t one to miss!

Lastly thank you to NetGalley & Montlake for providing an ARC for me to read and review these are my honest thoughts!

Call Me Anytime is a blend of romance, humor, and suspense. The story follows Hannah May, a 25-year-old struggling to care for her mother with Alzheimer's disease. In dire need of a job, she accepts a position at a phone sex hotline, thinking it's a telemarketing role—which creates hilarious conversations between Hannah and her clients, given her inexperience with dirty talk. This unexpected turn leads her to meet Detective Dominic Dunn, who is investigating the murders of women connected to the phone sex hotline where Hannah has just started working. I really liked Hannah and Dom as a couple; I enjoyed their chemistry and their witty banter. I also really enjoyed how skillfully balanced were lighthearted moments with more serious themes, such as Alzheimer's care. Overall is was good, quick read.

Max Monroe knocks it out the park again!

I do love this author duo. They just seem to produce great books - genuinely don't think I've read a bad one by them. The characters always seem to real and likeable and Hannah May and Dominic Dunn are no different.

They are genuine characters that meet in unusual circumstances- she is working on a phone sex line and he is investigating a murder of someone who was a phone sex worker - but it just seems to work. The supporting cast is also so well written.

This left me with such a warm feeling when reading it. Love it.

This book was to die for!! Now this is classic Max Monroe, laugh out loud funny, giggles! I adored Hannah, Dom, and Sherry. I also have a tiny crush on Shane. The book hit real close to home dealing with a parent who has dementia. I really felt all the struggles and emotions that Hannah was going through. I loved Dom's family and everything he brought to the table. The suspense was right on, and you won't realize until the end who was behind the murders. That alone kept me invested. The only issue I had was when Hannah let her pride get in the way when Dom wanted to help. I understand, but I felt she was acting childish and downright stubborn for cutting him off like that. I struggled with that part of the book and then to go into danger without having called him for backup irked me so bad. It's so funny, usually it's the guys having to redeem themselves for me but in this situation it was Hannah! I loved the epilogue too! This was a great read and a top five for me this year.

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for this ARC!

This book surprised me in the best way. Call Me Anytime had me cackling at so many moments.

The characters were likable though not much character development for either MCs. The FMC had a solid backstory and personality whilst the MMC's whole personality was being obsessed with the FMC. This dynamic might work for some books but I did wish there was more to it.

The writing itself was super easy to read and bingeable. The romance and mystery thriller plot had some substance and kept me engaged (though there was potential for more romance and mystery thriller). Their love story did move pretty quickly yet it was a slow burn effort for a good chunk of the book. Even with the mystery thriller aspect, I felt it could have gone another way to really up the ante and stakes but what we got in the end fell flat in regards to the MCs actually pursuing the killer.

The representation of the realities of living and caring for those with Alzheimers was insightful and heartfelt but not too heavy as I've read in other books.

I also didn't love the MMC's 'alter ego' lmao. Idk but that just threw me off.

This was a fun book with lots of potential.

Would read again, as well as anything else the duo Max Monroe writes.

Overall rating: 3.75/5

Did I enjoy it? Yes. Do I feel like it's similar to other things written lately? Also yes. Did I finish it? Yes. Did I finish it because I felt I had to? Also yes.

Overall, the book isn't bad, but it's a struggle to find originality to it.

ARC Review

This book was hilariously funny, the whole idea of Hannah being a virgin phone sex line worker who ends up involved with a murder investigation was brilliant.

Even though Hannah's mum Sherry is battling Alzheimer's the way the book handles everything was great. I really enjoyed the way Sherry was the mastermind who managed to solve the murders as well.

Thank you to Netgalley the the advance copy of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this arc.

This was such a fun read! It was so different than any other book I’ve read by Max Monroe. I loved the added ‘mystery’ to the typical romance book. It had the laughs, the suspense, and the love.

Great read!

I had such a great time reading this book! It pulled me in right from the start and kept me turning the pages. The writing flowed so well, and I found myself completely invested in the story and characters. It’s one of those reads you just don’t want to put down.
huge thanks to the publisher for sending me an early copy!! I’m so glad I got to read it ahead of the release day and can't wait for the world to get to enjoy it too!!

When 25-year-old Hannah desperately takes a job at Call Me Anytime, a sex hotline, the last thing she expects is to become part of an active murder investigation. Or to feel so enraptured by the detective in charge of the case, Dominic Dunn. But, as the case progresses, Hannah will certainly discover many things she didn’t know about herself.

This was such a fun romcom/thriller to read and, maybe it’s because I read it in August, but I think it’s a perfect read for the beach, the heat pairing perfectly from the heat from the book. I loved both characters, each having their own unique voice that would make you recognise them even if you didn’t know who was talking, and Dom’s lines made me laugh out loud more than once. The last 10% percent was absolutely wild and it kept me with my eyes glued to the book until I finished it.

The only downside I found was the typical third-act breakup and reconciliation, but that is something I expect from almost every romance book as well as the fact that everything happens faster than a mechanical bull (May 6th - June 22), but that’s more of a me-thing.

Call Me Anytime is perfect for those readers that are looking for a yearning man with a cowboy hat and a gun by his hip, a murder case investigation and lots of laughter.

This Murder Mystery x Detective/Informant romance is the perfect fall book for those who are looking for a spooky read this season! The pace was nice, the romance one you really rooted for and I especially appreciated the highlighting of alzheimer's/dementia as I can personally relate to this. The entire premise was both serious and hilarious, a fine line Monroe walked throughout the book perfectly. I highly recommend this read, it was delightful with every twist and turn!

Twenty-five year old Hannah has been caring for her mother since she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She’s stressed, in a massive amount of debt, and in desperation took a job at a call center.

A phone sex hotline.

And Hannah is a virgin who has no idea how to talk dirty.

When a former phone sex worker is found dead, in enters detective Dominic Dunn to solve the case and protect Hannah. It doesn’t take long for him to realize she’s everything he’s ever wanted.

Hannah’s mom, Sherry’s, and obsession with NCIS provides a comedic backdrop.

Call Me Anytime was a fun crossover between mystery, suspense, and rom-com. Overall, I did enjoy the Hannah’s story, but there were a few things that soured the experience for me. I felt like the story spent so much time focusing on her mom’s issues that more time could have been spent on her and Dominic’s relationship. I didn’t really feel the chemistry there as they hardly spent any time together on page. The ending was also a little counterintuitive to the entire story. Hannah was so out of character, and the epilogue made my eyes roll so hard I thought they’d get stuck. I did laugh a lot, and I did like the characters separately, I just didn’t feel the love. 3.5⭐️ rounded to 3⭐️

I laughed so hard at poor Hannah being a terrible phone sex operator due to being a virgin. This is a fun murder mystery with a hot cop and you'll love every minute of this book!
