My Husband's Lies by Maryann Webb, on audio was a good book. I've rounded up to a 4 because Goodreads just can't grasp 1/2 stars and ties go to the author.

A 'perfect' life, the end of the honeymoon era, mistrust, a husband who works late (a lot), a girls night out and murder are the perfect combination for a domestic thriller. My one request for an author is always give us someone to root for, someone to like, a character who makes us cheer for a particular ending. Webb didn't really do that. Female MC Aria stepped on my last nerve with some of her behavior, but not enough to even consider DNF, so that's a plus.

This one started slow, but provided enough twists that ultimately it was worth the wait for the ending.

Here is my note to every advertising exec with every publisher everywhere on the planet: Please please please stop using any variation of the phrase, "A totally unputdownable psychological thriller packed with twists perfect for Summer 2025!"

Just. Don't.

It's so overused now that it just makes me roll my eyes.

My favourite audio book of the year so far

Great story really well told when one of her best friends is killed on a night out so much changes well it would plus this is a thriller so true this is expected. But the story isn't aa expected it's full of surprises plenty of unforseen twists and some hold your breath moments.. Her surviving friends add to the drama but it's the other ones that supply most of it. The mystery stalker (or are they) This is an intriguing drama/thriller and definitely a great read.

So it's a 5star listen (or read) in my view and I highly recommend and how you enjoy it as much as I did.

I found this quite slow to start, the story seemed quite focused on Aria's thoughts spiralling rather than anything actually happening. That said, in the second half it does pick up and I found a lot more action and suspense.

The story focuses on Aria's pov, how she suspects her husband is cheating on her. It highlights the premise of 'How well do you know those closest to you'. We see all her relationships and interactions through her eyes so it makes you question everyone else's motives. We only see what they want Aria to see.

Throughout the book, Aria frustrated me with her thoughts and actions, it seemed like she was purposely being oblivious. I did not find her a particularly likeable character but only as I didn't feel a connection to her.

Parts of the twist, I did not see coming and it surprised me. I had to rewind a little as it hits it quite quickly. I think fans of Frieda McFadden will enjoy this.

I listened to the audiobook and it took me a while to get used to the narrator. I didn't quite gel with her voice.

I enjoyed that it was first person pov, and it worked well being told only from Aria.

Thank you to UK audio for this advanced Audiobook.
