I hadn’t heard of the author before requesting this book. That was partly why I did request it as I’m always looking for “new” authors. So glad I did and will definitely be reading more by Nicole. This was absolutely brilliant. Lots of secrets and twists from beginning to end had me completely hooked. Highly recommend this.

I love a good psychological thriller, but I found this one really difficult to get into. I found it slow and actually gave up about half way through.

Where's Sandy? Lana, her client Sandy. and Sandy's husband Mike tell this story of a marriage and the therapist who is caught in a web. Sandy claims Mike has abused her but how reliable is she? Mike claims he hasn't done anything but Sandy's missing. This plot might seem familiar but Trope (ironic name for an author) has tossed in some good twists that kept me reading. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. No spoilers from me.

I was deeply enthralled with this book!!!! This is one of my favorite books of this year! If you love Gone Girl vibes this is the book for you. This is the second book I've read by this author and it's safe to say she is now an automatic read for me. Absolutely obsessed with this book, I need it to be a movie.

The Therapist by Nicole Trope
I was so excited to be approved to read Nicole Trope’s latest psychological Thriller.
Lana is a therapist in Sydney and she has her own practice. She starts seeing a new client, Sandy. Sandy wants to change, says they are a dysfunctional and damaged family and she is afraid she and her husband, Mike, are damaging their two children. She says that Mike is violent and she is afraid for her life. After a few one-on-one sessions Mike is persuaded to join the therapy session but the following week Sandy does not come in and Lana is worried Mike has harmed her. When she goes to Sandy and Mike’s house, she finds that Sandy is not there. Has Mike done something to Sandy? And Why does Mike seem so surprised when he is told that Sandy was afraid of him? What is really going on?
This book is written from Lana’s, Sandy’s and Mike’s points of view.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Bookouture for a copy of this eBook in exchange for an honest review.

The Therapist by Nicole Trope
Holy twists and turns. This book was intense from page one and only escalated from there. I loved how this story was told. The way it melted together, mixing past and present events, was brilliant.
I liked Lana from the start. While she was insecure, she was a good character. Sandy is a textbook character we are meant to distrust and dislike initially. She is not kind and deluded in thinking that her looks will give her everything she wants, including some.
I could not put this book down. I was sucked in after the first paragraph. Nicole is such a talented writer and is so clever with curating her twists. I was suspicious the whole time because the way things happened made it impossible to guess the next step.
The summer of thrillers continues with The Therapist. I loved the use of perspective and timelines, and Trope's capture of the instability of human relationships was delicious.
I was wrong every time I thought I had figured out what twist was coming. This plot was so fast-paced and filled with subtle clues. It was awesome realizing everything was falling into place. The writing, the suspense, and the chaos were beautiful.

This was my first book by this author and how I need to go search for more books by them! This story was wonderfully written and suspenseful! I could barely put the book down until the end.

The Therapist by Nicole Trope is a gripping psychological thriller that dives deep into a world of toxic manipulations and intricate calculations. It resembles a Tango dance between the patient and the therapist - sharp, strict, yet filled with enough passion. At times, this story can be quite frustrating, making me want to shout at the characters.
The narrative unfolds from three perspectives: Mike, the husband; Sandy, the wife; and Lana, the wife's therapist. Lana is depicted as naive and grappling with low self-esteem, leading her to make poor decisions, while Sandy appears confident, strong, and seemingly in control, even when things aren't going in her favor.
When Lana takes on a new patient from her colleague, she has no idea she will find herself caught in a battle between the truths of Sandy and Mike, as the information is so conflicting. In her quest for the truth, Lana crosses boundaries that plunge her into a dark rabbit hole. This story reveals that nothing is ever as it seems, keeping you guessing and questioning who to trust throughout.

Wow! This was everything I could have wanted. Its fast paced with so many twists and turns that I had no clue who to believe and who to trust. Its well written and just when I thought id got it all figured out, everything changed once again so I was absolutely hooked!!!

This was a fast-paced, twisty psychological thriller that kept me hooked from start to finish. Lana, a therapist, takes on a new client, Sandy, who claims her husband is abusive—but things quickly spiral into a tangled web of lies, suspicion, and manipulation. Told from multiple perspectives, the story keeps you guessing who’s really telling the truth. I couldn’t put it down!

5 🌟 wow what I ride. First thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for letting me read this one, this is my first book by Nicole Trope and she certainly left her mark. Straight off the bat this one has you hooked and in suspense, I did not want to put it down. It had me confused the whole way through about who was lying and telling the truth and couldn’t guess anything until the very end. I absolutely loved the character development and was easy to follow jumping between the 3 different character prospectives. 5 🌟

Wow!!! This book took me on quite a journey. Twist and turns all leading to a conclusion that I never expected. I have always loved Nicole Trope’s Books, this one did not disappoint. Read it in less than 8 hours.

God this got me confused about who the hell was telling the truth the entire time. Everytime I thought I knew I got something else that planted a seed of doubt in my head. I kind of guessed what would happen in some parts, though other ones I did not at all. Enjoyed the short thriller! 3.5 stars

This book just felt disjointed from the beginning. I couldn't seem to connect with the characters and the storyline just didn't deliver.

The Therapist is an absolutely gripping psychological thriller that dives deep into the hidden lives we try to keep secret. Nicole Trope delivers a tightly woven, emotionally intense story filled with tension, betrayal, and shocking twists. With a narrative and characters you won’t forget, this is a haunting page-turner that will keep you hooked until the final reveal.

Thank you to NetGalley and Nicole Trope for an arc of The Therapist!
The Therapist is one of those psychological thrillers that keeps you second-guessing everything and everyone. It’s a quick read, super twisty, and hard to put down.
The story centers around Lana, a therapist, who reluctantly agrees to take on a new client (Sandy) as a favor to her coworker. Sandy comes to Lana with a black eye, telling her that her husband (Mike) is abusive. But Lana starts noticing things that don’t quite add up.
From there it’s a wild ride. The story jumps between the perspectives of Lana, Sandy, and Mike. It quickly becomes clear that everyone is hiding something, and the deeper you get, the more tangled it all becomes.
The characters are messy, realistic, clever, and super unreliable - just the way I like ‘em! Which made it all the more fun to try to figure out what was really going on and who was telling the truth. The twists kept me guessing til the final pages. If you’re into fast-paced thrillers with dark secrets and surprise reveals, this one’s worth a read.

Strong, solid 3.5! The book was twisty & turny, with a sold story behind it. Kind of a Gone Girl vibe? & I didn’t want to put it down.
HOWEVER, the length of the chapters was soo long. & I struggled with the FMCs being in 1st person & the MMC being in 3rd.
Also wanted a little more EFF YOU ending & thought this ending fell a little flat. Would still recommend to others!
Thank you NetGalley for a chance at the psychological thriller, it did not disappoint!

I LOVED this! I expected the direction early on, but the execution was better than I imagined. There were also a few smaller plot twists that caught me by surprise and gave new understandings to the story. As a therapist myself, I appreciated Lana and how she was written. She wasn’t perfect, made mistakes, and clearly had blind spots (that resulted in a few mistakes). Despite that, we learn she’s very good at her job. Overall, a quick and satisfying read! Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for an ARC!

I usually really enjoy Nichole Trope's books and while The Therapist had some strong moments and emotional depth, it didn't quite grip me the way her other books have. The pacing felt a bit slow at parts and I struggled to fully connect with some of the characters. That said, her writing is still compelling and fans of her work may still find this worth the read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review.

The Therapist is another stunning read from Nicole Trope! Love the way she lays out a story, creating characters with good and bad, and how the various parts dovetail together. Very well done!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
