Wow! What a thrilling edge of your seat read. The twist at the end was very unpredictable and loved every minute reading this book. Highly recommend.

The Therapist by Nicole Trope is a gripping psychological thriller that had me completely absorbed from the very first page. The story is layered with tension, emotion, and a creeping sense of unease that builds with every chapter. The author does an excellent job of exploring trauma, trust, and the complexity of human relationships, all while keeping the pace taut and the stakes high. The main character is compelling and well-drawn, and I really felt her vulnerability as the plot unfolded. The way the therapist's role is woven into the story adds a fascinating dynamic you’re never quite sure who to trust, and just when you think you have things figured out, another twist hits.
Nicole Trope has a real talent for tapping into psychological depth while still delivering an edge of-your seat read. I couldn't put it down and read it in a single sitting. This is a chilling, emotionally charged thriller that lingers with you long after the final page. I absolutely loved it and will be Highly recommening it to everyone especially for fans of domestic suspense and psychological thrillers. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this great book.

“The Therapist” is a thriller by Nicole Trope. This book follows Lana, a therapist, who is asked by her office partner, Ben, to take on his client, Sandy (hang with me). Sandy is having problems with her husband, Mike, who she says is a monster to her … and one day, Sandy disappears. Lana wonders what happened - and is Mike to blame? This book is told in the first half mainly from Lana and Sandy’s POV and then once Sandy disappears, Mike’s POV replaces Sandy’s. This book had a lot of potential, but just missed the mark. There were a number of twists with unreliable characters, some backstage happenings (that the reader finds out toward the end of the book), and some really grey ethical areas. The pacing was good - until the middle, where things started playing catch-up and background - but by the time the ending came, I’d guessed a number of the twists. While children were involved in the book, I felt for the most part that they were just “there,” opposed to depth given to them. Additionally, I realize that Lana had some issues but reading them made me wonder if besides her son she was actually happy about anything (and I get it, childhood trauma stays with people, but she kept harping on so many negatives emotionally it was exhausting). This wasn’t Ms. Trope’s best book, but it was a pretty fast read for me.

Nicole Trope is quickly becoming one of my favorite thriller authors.. This book is a twisty ride that will keep you guessing the whole way through!

I was fortunate to get an ARC of this book from Bookouture. This is the first book I have read by Nicole Trope, but I can assure you it will not be the last. She is a great writer. This was one of the books I could not put down. It makes you really think about who you can trust. At it's core is the underlying theme of bullying and it's long term effects. I can't wait see what else she's written.

Read this book in one sitting, could not put it down! I thought I’d worked out how it would end but I was wrong. Currently adding all of Nicole Trope’s books to my TBR list.

I wanted to love this one. Here’s what I enjoyed about it and why you might want to read it!
Loved:
-Premise is quite cool
-Pacing is fast and perfect. This could totally get someone out of a reading slump and would be a great beach read, weekend read, etc.
-Minimal characters with wonderful development allows for you to get fully invested quickly.
Why I DNF’d this at 60%:
-I realized writing style is important to me especially in thrillers. I’m very picky. I didn’t love the writing style in this book. The POV was excellent and I enjoyed seeing multiple throughout, but that was about it.
-I just could not connect with this one. It’s a personal, me thing. I’m reallllly picky about thrillers.
I totally recommend this to thriller lovers, this one and I just didn’t connect the way I hoped we would.
Thank you for the ARC! I appreciate the opportunity to leave honest feedback voluntarily.

Wow thank you Net Galley for providing me with an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This book had me HOOKED from the beginning, I am a huge fan of Gillian Flynn and Frieda McFadden and I will 100% be reading more from Nicole Trope.
There were twists up until the very end and I could not put it down!
Highly recommend

Thank you for the opportunity to read an early copy of this book! The Therapist was certainly a wild ride that kept me turning pages, eager to see how the layers of the story would unfold.
One of the elements I appreciated most was the perspective of the therapist herself. Her voice felt authentic and compelling—I could really sense how deeply she was drawn into her client’s world. Her desire to help, even when the boundaries blurred, felt believable and emotionally resonant. As a reader, I found myself rooting for her, even as I questioned her decisions.
The storyline overall was engaging, though I found some of the plot a bit predictable. That said, the twist near the end did take me by surprise! However, I have mixed feelings about it. While it added an unexpected layer to the narrative and served to tie up some threads in a kind of poetic justice or “karma” way, it also felt a bit far-fetched—and ultimately didn’t change the course of action for the main character. In that sense, it felt more like a flourish than a necessary reveal.
Still, I enjoyed the psychological depth and the way the novel explored the complex relationship between therapist and client. If you're looking for a fast-paced, emotionally charged psychological drama with an intriguing premise, this is one to consider.

wow Thank you net galley for this arc i really really enjoy this story, i didn't know who to trust. very unreliable, twist. really good

Excellent book sometimes you think you have it all figured out then a twist comes and you wonder if you are correct. I should have went with my first instincts. But the twists in the story still keep you engrossed. Can’t wait to read more from this author

Glad I read this on my day off, I flew through it in one sitting.
Super fast paced and keeps you turning the pages. Definitely a must read.

What a fun read! I love stories with unreliable narrators, and this book offered up more than one! I thought that I knew who I could trust, but certain instances had me struggling with indecision and doubting everything. This definitely aided in creating the high shock value I felt when all the twists were revealed. And good lawd! There were so many surprises! One of the scenarios became evident about halfway through, but that didn't deter me from flying through the pages. I was completely transfixed with this story. I feel like the ending could have been a little more cathartic. It was a decent conclusion, but my vengeful feelings wanted more of a final eff you. I'm glad that Trope got her crazy back. I enjoy her thrillers so much more than the dramas. If you're looking for a fun, crazy, super-fast read, you won't want to miss this one! Highly recommend!
Thank you to Bookouture for granting me a digital ARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review!

“The Therapist” by Nicole Trope was an easy read, psychological thriller that I finished in two days. I did notice some twists throughout the book that I wasn’t expecting, which kept me engaged. However, at the end of the book, I wasn’t expecting ANY of it. I wouldn’t say it is a jaw-dropping ending, but I was definitely shocked at the end. The book includes narcissistic behaviors and gaslighting by characters which was really interesting. Overall, it was a good read and really entertaining.

THE THERAPIST BY NICOLE TROPE.
Release date set for the 31st of July 2025.
I've read many Nicole Trope books and I've enjoyed them all and this one is as good as the others.
This one made me question everyone's motives and there's so many lies and deceit.
I recommend this one to everyone who loves this genre.

I got a lot of Freida McFaddon vibes with this one, which wasn’t a good thing. Not very suspenseful, but written well enough. I usually love an unreliable narrator but here it didn’t work and felt forced.

I was not expecting the ending in this book! So many plot twists! The story follows Lana (the therapist) who works in an office along with another psychologist she rents space to: Ben. Ben starts to see a client (Sandy) whom he says is having feelings for him and he is starting to feel for her as well. Knowing that it would be unprofessional to keep her as a client, he asks Lana to take her on. Lana is sucked into Sandy's potentially abusive marriage with her husband, Mike. There are so many things that just don't add up. Is Sandy really being abused? Is Mike being abused? What is actually going on within their household?
There were so many turns happening in this book, it almost gave me whiplash at the end! I gave it four stars because some parts were just a bit unbelievable to me, such as Lana going over to Sandy's house. That was very much reminding me of the character in a scary movie who runs upstairs when a bad guy is in the house. Not smart. I also didn't understand the point of making so much known about Lana's divorce with her husband. I thought the ending would be a big different but just so much happened at the end! The characters were well written and their inner-dialogue was easy to follow. I would definitely read more from this author!

This book was a quick read & I flew through it in 2 days, but I didn’t really see any plot twists happening. It seems like the author tried to do a Gone Girl-esque story but it could have been executed better, in my opinion. I think it would have been more surprising if we didn’t have Sandy’s POV so the reader & Lana were both in the same situation of guessing whether she was telling the truth. It was also a little disorienting switching from first person POV to third person between Mike & everyone else. It took me a second to adjust to the story every time I read his chapters. All that being said, it wasn’t a bad book.

Meet Lana, a therapist 🛋️ still carrying the emotional scars of her past. When a new client, Sandy, confides that she’s in a controlling and abusive marriage 💔, Lana is pulled into a chilling story. Then… Sandy disappears. 😱 What happened to her?
This intense psychological thriller 🔪 is packed with trauma, secrets, and suspense. Nicole Trope’s unique writing style had me hooked 🎯—with slow-building tension that kept me flipping pages 📖 late into the night. 🌙
The therapeutic setting was incredibly well done 🧠, and I loved the shifting POVs 🔄. The manipulation! 😵💫 The vulnerability! 😢 The suspense! 😰 It’s all here.
🙌 Highly recommend for fans of dark, twisty thrillers!

**3.5 stars rounded up**
Lana is asked by fellow therapist Ben to take on his client Sandy, who has fallen in love with him – and it turns out he’s unprofessionally attracted to her too! Lana agrees, but right from the start, she gets the vibe that something about Sandy is not adding up. Are her tearful descriptions of a toxic marriage really true? When Sandy goes missing, Lana knows she needs to find out what happened to her.
I love an unreliable narrator trope, so give me a book with MULTIPLE unreliable narrators and I’m there! I spent the entire time trying to figure out who to trust, not sure if I could trust anyone at all! Sandy seemed pretty devious, but that didn’t mean her marriage couldn’t also be terrible, right? Was her husband Mike as innocent as he claimed, or were his anger issues a giant red flag? Could I even trust Lana the therapist? Nicole Trope did a great job of drawing me in and keeping me hooked as this psychological suspense novel simmered along. Fans of Gone Girl will love this one!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me an advance copy of this book.
