I really liked the premise of this book but I found the delivery to be lacking. I loved Ida and thought she was really cute and funny, I did not love Gabe. I didn't find him likeable as a character at all.
Things I really liked about this book:
Mental Health Rep
Growth in Characters
Secondary Character Development.
Things I didn't like:
What the heck was going on with Gabe just peac-ing out on Ida like that. RUDE. It also seemingly went against all the growth he'd made leading up to that moment.
Some of the pacing felt off and the inner monologue for Gabe didn't seem to match how he was presenting.
In regards to the audio portion, I loved the female narrator, did not love the voice of the male narrator, I don't feel like his delivery matched Gabe.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this one but it was absolutely delightful. I had some reservations about Gabe at the beginning but I quickly forgot about them as the story progressed. I got fully sucked into the story and couldn't put the book down until I'd finished it. I absolutely adored it and am really looking forward to the next book from Kate Serzenta. I also really liked both narrators.

This was really cute and a quick read. I enjoyed the banter between the two main characters. I also really liked the side characters within the town of Buttons. Some of my favorite aspects of the story were the ghostly ability of absorbing information, as well as the ghost book having a contract - with a lawyer as the MMC.
The narrators did a great job bringing each of the characters to life (or to ghost lol).
Thank you NetGalley for the advance audiobook. All opinions are my own.

This story is so cute. It is like reverse hallmark, the big city lawyer goes to hide out in the small town and finds real friendships, community, and love with his ghostly companion. I love that Ida has learned and grown with the changes since she died so she can understand the current world. Ida helps Gabriel learn to enjoy live and be present in the moment and he helps her decide that life is worth living. If you love hallmark plus a little spice this is for you.
The narrators did a great job, both narrators really brought the characters emotion to life and maintained great pacing and voice acting. It was great.

This book really suprised me. I didn't think I was going to like it this much.
The beginning really had me thinking Gabriel was a certain type of character, but he turned out to be the opposite. His and Ida's relationship was a nice slowburn. There was yearning and really hot perfume scene.
Ida's OCD, I think, was depicted really well.
I liked how the supernatural element of this book was handled. I was left with an unanswered question, but I enjoyed the overall story too much to mind.
The writing flowed really well, and as previously mentioned I enjoyed being surprised by author's choices and subverting expectations. I will be reading more books by her.
The audiobook was very good, both narrators were excellent.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
