Wow! I LOVED this book. It's a twisty, action-packed mystery steeped in Caribbean folklore and absolutely hilarious too. MORE OF THIS, PLEASE. I'll be recommending it to everyone. So happy it came my way. The first in what looks set to be a fantastic new series.

I loved this short, fun horror mystery so much. Our hero Jermaine's love of delicious snacks is surpassed only by the love he has for his family and friends. When his appetite gets the better of him at his Great-Great Uncle's Dead Yard he gets more than he bargained for! The story has its roots in Jamaican ghost stories and traditional tales but it's set in a vibrantly portrayed contemporary Shepherd's Bush in London where Jermaine's community is tight and supportive. As a middle grade horror title it manages to walk a perfect line between light humour and creepiness. It's the first in a series and I can't wait to read the next one.
