I read this book with my 8 year old as she is beginning to enjoy football and I thought I would be a good introduction to it.

Sadly she enjoyed the book for the first few pages, learning the nicknames, stadium capacity and an interesting fact about the teams but quickly got bored and wanted to skip to teams she'd heard of.

We both liked how bright and colourful this book is, it's very well presented and we enjoyed the later sections of the book with the quizzes.

It's a good introduction to English and Scottish teams but a bit repetitive and maybe not a book that would live long in the mind of a child.

It is ultimately a very bare bones basic introduction to every football club. Each club has nickname, year they were founded, name and capacity of stadium, top scorer, club colours, and one fun fact about each.

It is aimed at 7+ and I feel it is fine for that age range. I think it would probably be more effective if it narrowed down the scope a little and provided more information on each club. Maybe split it into separate books on English and Scottish clubs. At the moment it is very much skimming the surface.

I really enjoy the presentation style though, it is rather minimalist but it is eye catching and has a friendly inviting vibe.
