Snowflakes Over Starr’s Fall

If I wasn’t already ready for the holidays, I definitely would be now! Snowflakes Over Starr’s Fall was such a tender story of self love & acceptance. It was so fun to see Jenna and Jack realize they’re not as different as they once believed, and the holiday timing made it all the sweeter.

One of the most heartwarming parts of this book was the journeys of self love and kindness that both Jack and Jenna went on. At the onset of Snowflakes Over Starr’s Fall, both characters have a lot of internal tension, which leads to their not-meet-cute. Over the course of the story, we see them both warm up and soften, and I really loved that.

Starr’s Fall is PEAK small town vibes and the perfect setting for a holiday romance. I loved the whole extended cast of characters and how much they meddled to get Jack and Jenna together. It was hilarious as well as heartwarming to see the community show up for these characters and their love story.

Thank you to Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and review this book! I received a free advance copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Ten years ago Jenna Miller returned to her home town of Starr’s Fall, dumped, dejected and depressed.
Now, running the family store, finances are not good and Jenna must learn to embrace change or go bust.
An altercation with newcomer Jack Wexler ultimately makes her realise that if she does not change the store and change herself, then the future is bleak.
Jack Wexler, burnt out financier at only 42. Needs to change before his health deteriorates even more. He also needs a project!
The characters were great and the story uplifting. Change is good for everyone and even better when you have someone to help you.
However, I was a little disappointed with the setting. I kept forgetting where Starr’s Fall was located. With references to village greens I sometimes relocated to Scotland.
I enjoyed this title very much and look forward to reading more by this author.

I just adore this series!

It is Gilmore Girls in book form and each book just gets better and better.

Characters from the previous novels feature and it is like catching up with old friends.

The relationship forming in Starr's Fell this time is brilliant. I loved how stubborn both of the characters were. Reminded me a bit of myself and my husband.

I am looking forward to another visit to this fantastic community (hopefully soon).

💥A bit of an Austen P&P vibe!🙊

4-4.5🌟 stars
A cute, sweet romance, with an enemies to lovers vibe and plenty of good dialogue.

The way small-town grocery owner Jenna and medically retired Wall Street millionaire Jack throw daggers and insults about each other from their first unfortunate encounter in the mercantile reminds me a lot of Elizabeth and Darcy in Austin's Pride and Prejudice. She's so defensive of her weary little store and he's so obviously critical, added to their first impressions formed of each other's dress and appearance, and soon the whole town knows about their sparring. The initial plot set-up let me know this would be an enjoyable read with the romance somewhat rocky and plenty of ruffled feathers to smooth.

The issues with their parents added an interesting and, for Jenna's parents, unexpected side to the story. Although there are Christmas festivities to arrange and the big climax happens at Christmas, the holiday doesn't dominate the plot. I liked that. Characters from earlier in the series appear but don't overwhelm.

Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Life is never dull in Starr’s Fall. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! Snowflakes Over Starr’s Fall by Kate Hewitt is one of several cute romantic comedies which take place in the fictitious north eastern town. When Jack, a sleek city guy pulls up to the mercantile in a new sports car, Jenna doesn’t think much of him. In her mind, guys from the big apple are one and the same. Over time, she discovers that first impressions are not always as they seem and that her own generalizations are sometimes very wrong. This was a very predictable, cute story that fit my cottage mood the a T.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

Jack and Jenna have an odd first encounter and they certainly don’t start off on the right foot. Jack is a rich snob according to Jenna but as Jack steps in to help Jenna revitalize her store, things start to change between them.

I enjoyed the storyline but not always their haste reactions and decisions at times. Great read for around Christmas time

I loved this book, I was fortunate to read this as part of a reading tour. I loved the whole enemies to lovers, grumpy small town vibes. The characters themselves both had flaws which we could see and so many of their problems were just miscommunications but I really enjoyed this pairing and seeing how their relationship changed over the course of the book. Very cosy and I’d love to read more of this small town.

Snowflakes Over Starr's Fall by Kate Hewitt ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book 3 in the series, each a stand alone by beneficial to learn about the people of small town Starr's Fall.

This story is about a couple middle aged adults, Jack and Jenna.
Jenna took over the family store after her father retired. An older mom and pop shop that has a little of everything one might need.
Jack new in town on his high horse and his Rolex. Coming from Wall Street in NYC. He becomes very rude to Jenna because her store doesn't meet his needs.
They butt heads like teenagers. Both carrying emotional baggage.
Will they figure out they need each other before it's too late?
Can they survive together in this small town? Only time will tell.

Hope you decide to read this book. You'll get that holiday fuzzy you get watching a Hallmark movie.

This book releases August 17th.
Thank you Netgallery and Boldwood Books for the advanced copy for my honest review.

Snowflakes Over Starr's Fall by Kate Hewitt
Spend Christmas in the breathtakingly beautiful small town of Starr's Fall with million-copy bestselling author Kate Hewitt
Book 3 of 3: Starr's Fall
Welcome to the magical town of Starr's Fall
As the stars twinkle and the snow drifts over the town… someone’s about to find the magic she didn’t even know she’d been missing…
Jenna has lived in Starr’s Fall for most of her life, and has run the general store for over ten years. Secretly she might dream of love and romance, but she’s happy as she is. Really.
That is, until Starr’s Fall’s newest resident—ex-New Yorker, millionaire investment banker—Jack Wexler breezes into Jenna’s store, seemingly furious they don’t stock smoked salmon. Jenna is as amused as she is annoyed. Who is this ridiculous guy, and doesn’t he realize he’s not in Manhattan anymore?
Jack meanwhile can’t believe he lost it in public. But ever since being forced to leave his high-flying career to focus on his health, he’s not been himself. What’s more, the last person he’d expected to be attracted to is the shrew of a storekeeper he’s just encountered… which he might have called Jenna, in a moment of temper…
Neither of Jenna or Jack’s ideal of romance includes these sorts of furious sparks flying. But when they’re both roped in to organizing the town’s Winter Wonderland parade, they’re forced to work together. And as Christmas approaches – will two opposites merely attract? Or, in magical Starr’s Fall, could they fall in love for keeps?
This is Jenna Miller's story.
This Jack Wexler's story.
Jenna Miller returns home to Starr's Fall to run the family's mercantile store.
Jack Wexler has moved to Starr’s Fall for a quieter life.
I recommend this book.
Snowflakes Over Starr's Fall by Kate Hewitt is a 4 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Kate Hewitt.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions shared here in this review are my own.

if you’re craving that quintessential small-town Christmas vibe wrapped up in a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers stew, then "Snowflakes Over Starr’s Fall" has your name scribbled all over it. Jenna, our fiercely stubborn mercantile queen, has been running the family store in Starr’s Fall like a pro, or well, like someone barely keeping the lights on while nursing a decade-old heartbreak. Then, enter Jack Wexler, a flashy ex-New Yorker with a heart attack in his rearview and a Rolex on his wrist, who storms into her shop hunting smoked salmon and immediately ticks every “annoying city slicker” box possible.

Their first meeting? Basically a frosty verbal slapfight, with Jack throwing shade like he’s on Wall Street and Jenna wielding “shrew” like a badge of honor. But in true small-town fashion, avoidance isn’t an option, especially when the town ropes them both into organizing the Winter Wonderland parade, a set-up so classic it practically jingles with holiday clichés. What follows is a painfully slow un-thawing of two prickly, prideful people who might just realize the magic they didn’t know they were missing was right under their noses (or behind the general store counter).

Now, I’ll say it, the romance here is more simmer than sizzle. Jack and Jenna are about as polite and careful with each other as two cats stuck in a box together. Their snark and stubbornness make for some entertaining banter, but the emotional connection? A little elusive. The repeated use of "Jack Wexler" like a legal document rather than a man’s name made me feel like I was stuck in a courtroom drama instead of a cozy romance. And honestly, the angst dragged on so long I wanted to shout “Move on, people!” from my reading chair. But hey, there’s something kinda sweet about two grown adults tiptoeing around feelings like they’re defusing a bomb.

What really saved this from turning into a snoozefest was the setting. Starr’s Fall is like that snowy Instagram filter you desperately need in January. The town itself feels like a character, a warm, chatty neighbor who shows up with cookies and unsolicited advice. The side characters and ongoing storylines from previous books add layers of depth and familiarity, making it feel less like a standalone and more like a reunion with people you want to believe exist somewhere in Connecticut’s frosty pockets.

There’s a surprisingly tender undercurrent here too: Jack’s grappling with a forced retirement and his mother’s Alzheimer’s, Jenna’s dealing with family dynamics and financial strain on the store she loves. These real-world issues sneak past the holiday fluff and hit that sweet spot where cozy meets emotional resonance. It’s like eating pie with a side of honesty, and trust me, I’ll take that combo any day.

But let’s not kid ourselves, the plot is as predictable as a Hallmark movie, with no real surprises behind the snowflakes. You know where this train is headed, and it’s arriving right on time for the Christmas finale. Still, there’s a comforting charm in that predictability, like putting on your fluffiest socks and watching the snow fall outside your window while sipping something warm and dangerously sweet.

If you want a quick, gentle romance with middle-aged leads who carry their emotional baggage with a weird mix of grace and stubbornness, this is your ticket. Just don’t expect fireworks or groundbreaking chemistry. It’s more about those slow burns that warm you from the inside out while you’re curled up under a blanket, maybe wishing your own love story could be as uncomplicated as an argument over smoked salmon.

So, "Snowflakes Over Starr’s Fall" lands solidly at three stars for me, a cozy, predictable, but ultimately pleasant winter read with enough heart to keep you engaged, even if you want to shake the leads a little. Perfect for anyone who likes their romance like their hot chocolate: sweet, slow, and with a little whipped cream on top.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book! This is the third installment of the interconnected stand-alone series following Jenna the owner of the country store in Starr’s Fall. The new guy in town, Jack, keeps showing up in Jenna’s life but his first impression was not good. They must navigate life’s complications and their budding romance. This was so cute. I absolutely love this series!

I love this series, this is the third book and just as good as the last. We are back in Starr’s Fall with Jenna who runs the local convenience store, but when Jack the millionaire from London turns up expecting the works, she’s feels she needs to make a change. With Jacks help will the store turn out for the better? Great characters, great plot, the story is a quick enjoyable read. A 5 star read. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

This is so heartwarming! A sweet romance with different tropes: slow burn, enemies to lovers, and grumpy x sunshine. Jack and Jenna have a bit of tumultuous relationship at first, but they quickly warm up to each and discover that not everything is as it seems. Set in snowy town during Christmas, this is the perfect, romantic December read. Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for my digital ARC!!!

This was another good book in this series. It’s not quite as Christmasy as I was expecting. It was nice catching up with the characters we met in the previous books.
It’s an easy to read book. If you like enemies to friends stories be sure to grab this one.

Jenna has run the Starr’s fall general store since her parents retired to Florida. She’s given up on finding the love that they had, and is content with how her life and the store are, or is she?

Jack has recently moved to Starr’s fall after a health scare and his mothers ailing health have forced him into early retirement. But Starr’s fall is a far cry from bustling New York City!

After a pretty aggressive encounter over smoked salmon (or a lack of) Jenna and Jack find them selves working together to try and insert some life back into the failing general store!

This was another lovely dip into the cosy town of Starr’s fall, with a touch of festive whimsy to add to this enemies to lovers tale.

My thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Snowflakes Over Starr’s Fall’ written by Kate Hewitt in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Jenna Miller has lived in Starr’s Fall for most of her life, taking over the running of Miller’s Mercantile when her parents moved to Florida. As Jenna is wondering how she’s going to make the store more profitable, in walks a newcomer called Jack Wexler who’s living nearby at Bantam Lake, and with his Rolex watch and Porsche he immediately annoys Jenna with his privileged, arrogant and rude attitude, especially when he calls her a shrew. From an abysmal start Jack and Jenna form a friendship as he helps change the layout of her store to encourage more people through the door.

‘Snowflakes Over Starr’s Fall’ is the third in the Starr’s Fall series as this time we meet Jenna who had her heart broken ten years ago by an inconsiderate boyfriend and doesn’t intend to let it happen again. It’s a delight to meet up with some of the residents of Starr’s Fall, Maggie who’s in a relationship with Jenna’s brother Zach, Laurie and Annie, and all the folk who make the town such a warm and caring place to live. Kate Hewitt writes the loveliest stories with characters who you really want to get to know and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed involving myself with them as they celebrate Thanksgiving and ‘Winter Wonderland Weekend’. It’s a wonderfully romantic story that’s easy to read and although it has a fairly predictable plot, who doesn’t love a story that begins with an argument and ends with a happy ever after!
