Thanks to Lake Union for letting us get a sneak peak of What’s Mine Is Yours at The Pulse.

I have to be honest, I cover / title grabbed this one when it was offered to us over at @thrillerbookloversthepulse. I had no idea what it was about, so imagine my shock when the plot turns towards two girls in a dance company. I have never danced, I’ve never even wanted to take dance classes, but I have always been absolutely OBSESSED with the dance life. Something about the harsh juxtaposition between grace & beauty and cutthroat competition is so fascinating to me.

I don’t think any character in this book was completely innocent, but they all had moments of vulnerability that made me feel for them and want to see them succeed…yes even the worst one lol. I enjoyed getting both the teenage girls' perspectives as well as the adult women's perspectives. Themes of desperation, protection, desire and what we’re willing to do to achieve those things for ourselves or those we love.

I really enjoyed this book and had a good time listening to it, but it’s important to mention that it also touches on some heavier stuff that I find important. First, the mental health (and to a smaller degree, the dietary) issues that the ballet world can come with. It also touches on hereditary mental health issues, fractured families, generational lies, and rocky marriages.

I did have very strong suspicions as to the ‘twist’, but it didn’t detract from my enjoyment at all. What’s Yours Is Mine definitely reads more like a contemporary fiction with a mystery plot rather than a thriller, but with the characters and story that Jennifer Jabaley presented us, I was as glued to the book as if it were a high octane, edge-of-your-seat action thriller.

What's Yours Is Mine is a character driven novel that takes us on a wild ride. Constant secrets, lies, drama, suspicions and paranoia. It also delves deep into the subject of obsession and the lengths some will go or push their children. I don't know much about the dance world but I really enjoyed how the author described it and how the subject was approached. For me this one reads more as a domestic drama than a thriller !

The characters are all pretty unlikable to be honest, but that's what made this book for me. It's what made me keep reading, I just needed to know what happened. The ending was not what I expected and it took me by surprise !!

Overall, an entertaining and fun domestic drama. Fans of character driven plots will definitely be hooked on this one. The suspense is continuously building with many secrets to uncover along the way.

Drama in the sporting field - yes, please! Colette and Kate are best friends and competitive dancers. As one dancer does better than the other, jealousy arises and the mothers get involved. How low will they stoop to ensure their daughters get it all?

This was more of a drama than a thriller but being a big sports fan, I was rapt throughout. The audio was narrated phenomenally. With gripping emotional stakes, layered relationships and unexpected twists scattered throughout, I highly recommend this one.

Valerie & Elise each have a daughter that is competing to be the best dancer to win a major prize - but the tables are turning and the best friends are quickly becoming enemies due to all the competition.

Told in multiple POV from each mother & daughter (Valerie and Kate, Elise and Colette). This book is full of tension & ambition - and even dirty secrets. Valerie is after Elise’s husband and he may be interested in her as well. Elise will do anything to keep her daughter in the spotlight, no matter how dangerous it will get.

Narrated by Ann Marie Gideon, who did an incredible job bringing each character to life. I think this book will be a good fit for anyone who is a fan of Dance Moms and easily bingeable reads.

3.5⭐️

Colette and Kate are dancers and best friends. Colette’s mom, Elise is a dance mom who meddles too much. She wants her daughter to have the dream she never accomplished. With a coveted prize, worth a lot of money on the line, the rivalry and competition bring out the worst in so many.
Jealousy between the mothers, daughters and what they are willing to do to succeed will leave your head spinning. Manipulative, accidents, and more will keep you guessing to find out what happens next.
We at Thrillers Book Lovers THE PULSE are excited to get this one from the author. My first book by this author, BUT definitely not my last. The narrators nailed the characters.
