When Detective Jack Fulton starts getting mysterious messages on his computer about a cold case and several unresolved disappearance within his city, he is both disturbed and hopes raised that a finally there may be an answer to ancient riddles.
The same goes for an old contact, Mira, who is to fi d out that she is under surveillance yet again.
But can it really be that simple?
The city they inhabit is a murky world indeed, with hints of corruption in truly high places, and manipulation of information so entrenched within the system that it may be almost impossible to get at the truth. Especially where whole dossiers and records may be removed from cyberspace at a strike.
Jack. Mira, and one or two other obscure figures, however do not intend to give up, especially if there is a hope of getting at one arch cyber string puller in particular.
This is a novella rather than full-length novel, and none of the characters really possess any perspective beyond the cyber noir world and the city, Haven, in which they are immersed. This is a study of paranoia with a strong sense of entrapment.
The story takes up the perspective of several characters, sometimes in the third person, other times in the first, so that it is not always easy to see whose perspective is being followed
Thissy be deliberate, but it certainly doesn't always make things clear.
This short novel should appeal to those who enjoy this type of genre, however.
