Thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for an advanced reading copy of this book. It will be available to retailers on July 12, 2025.
This book has absolutely beautiful illustrations!!!! The message of how making a friend can change one’s whole perspective and personality is so true. The rhyming words make it a great read aloud and perfect for newer readers to learn word patterns. A great book!

Beautiful rhyming with a simple and clean art style. It was a very encouraging book about making friends and a good metaphor on the use of a gentler tone when speaking. I can see my child asking to read this to her at night.

A beautiful story about compassion and empathy. My kids loved this one. The pictures were beautiful which is always a bonus. The text on pages 9 and 10 was identical, even though the pictures were different which was a bit confusing.

The Lion's Roar by A. R. Whitetower is an adorable children's picture book about the quiet strength and majesty of lions dwelling in the lush tropical jungles. Children's will love the cute narrative matched with the vivid illustrations. While one page has text that repeats itself, the overall composition of the book is appealing and inviting to young readers looking to expand their journeys through literature.

Shoutout to Netgalley for this cute read. My son loved the animation and the colors on each page. The story line was cute as well and perfect for kids. What drew my son's attention the most was the pictures and seeing that there was a lion on the cover.

A short verse showing the story of a lion that roars – and puts everything else in the jungle off from being his friend. But when a bird comes along, soothes him with musical twittering and makes him laugh and smile, we see the lion isn't such a big beastie after all, but a sharing, caring heart that was just misunderstood. I guess there's some purpose for such a moral in the world, and this does have a lesson about prejudice to some small extent. But it isn't something you'd rush to re-read, however dazzling the cartoonishly digital art might be. An initial read, of course, is fine – this is over quickly and the verse is certainly strong enough for that to work. I think three and a half stars is about right, though, as this has hints of not being the author's most memorable output.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of The Lion's Roar!
First off, the artwork in this book is so whimsical and welcoming. My toddler loved looking at this with me.
The story is cute, heartwarming, and uplifting, and exactly what a childs book should be!
My only concern - which could be an issue with the formatting on the kindle version, is that there are two pages that have different artwork but the same words. Again, this could be an issue with the formatting on my kindle. The page that says "Surprised by her courage and sweet melody, the lion felt a warmth he never thought he'd see" is on two different pages.
I can't wait to purchase this for my daughter when it's published!

Cute book about a lion longing for a friend. This also includes lessons of friendship and courage. Super cute highly suggest.

Great story. Beautiful illustration, my little started roar like a lions after I read it to him. Very fast lion was sad and lonely but one little bird changed that for him and now he making all kinds of friend

My s child saw the cover and was immediately interested, just like it should be. I liked the description, so we read it - it's a very quick read and the rhymes are a nice touch. There isn't much to the story though and one page straight up gets repeated with just a different picture on it.
I would have liked a bit more of a story - something to make it make sense, maybe just a page or two about how the bird became friends with the lion, or how the lion learned to go from scary to friendly, but overall the story is nice. The pictures look very Ai generated but the little one liked them, they're very bright and colorful and even during the lion's scary part, they're friendly looking.
My favorite part was the dedication in the front - it's just something that isn't said enough. Very nice touch.

Great story with a positive message of friendship. The illustration is colorful with nice touches to illustrate movement and the loudness of the lions roar.

This is such a sweet tale of courage and joy. I would absolutely buy this and read it in my classroom as students deserve to see perseverance in love and compassion. Great work!

I was expecting a nice story that delivered what the description promised, however the story moves too quickly without getting the reader to bond with the story, without giving a resolution to the problem that is noticeable and meaningful. Regarding the illustration it is clearly done by AI, which makes at all times the characters feel weird and do not properly express the emotions they should feel in that part of the story.

It would be interesting to do an activity with children on managing their emotions, welcoming them and also recognizing those of others. I will definitely read it with my children in the section in the coming months!
In addition, the graphics are very attractive and colorful, I am sure that the children will like it!

I loved this story. The illustrations are beautiful and joyful, quite vibrant. An amazing story of a lonely lion and how his roar changed when he had a friend. Highly recommend. I will purchase this and re read. Just lightened my heart, made me happy and kept me smiling.
I was blessed with an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own and unbiased.
