What a way to start a series! Jack and Cat are the subjects of the first book in the Downrange Series. Jack is working with an elite group of ex-military heroes to save vulnerable people when they come across Cat in a very unstable section of Honduras. Cat hasn’t heard from Jack in months since their paths crossed on another mission in Vegas. Neither have forgotten about their mutual attraction. Cat is working on taking down yet another bad guy in the human trafficking world when Jack comes barreling into her op.

As typical of Riley Edwards, we are given a spicy and action packed military romance that gets your heart racing. She writes fluidly as if she were in the trenches with the characters. I especially loved that each of the main characters are equally fierce and protective. The story was realistic and so very steamy. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series!

A brand new series to fall in love with. Jack and Cat are explosive together, put them both with Jack's team and you have a unit that is precise and executes and pivots on a dime. Kitty Cat's character is over the top, kick @ass, and sarcastic! All in all, a fantastic combination for a character. Story time ... "The end." Just be yourself and he will give you all that you need in return. Gifts from the Angel of Death, are quite lovely, guidance from Lincoln, priceless and driving an excavator if necessary. Always a thrilling ride for Ms. Riley's books. Always, always will recommend a book by Riley Edwards. Unstoppable

Wow! I have a new favourite couple in Cat and Jack - they rock! Riley Edwards is the master of strong, pull no punches, stand-up for themselves female characters and Cat ticks all the boxes. I want to be her or at the very least I want her to be my friend (bestie obvs) she slays and her banter is absolutely top notch. Jack is no slouch either.
Anyway I digress, this is a brand new series from the author, if you have read the Takeback series you will have met both Cat and Jack before and Z Corps are get a shout out too. Jack and Cat have chemistry and the sparks flew when they worked together previously but they both walked away without acting on it. They are now thrown together when their ops become entangled in Central America, the chemistry is still there and this time neither of them is walking away. Former SIOB agent Catarina Keys is doing an old CIA contact a favour in Honduras, Jack Donavan and his team are also in Honduras to assist the same woman Cat is looking for. In the nine months that have passed since they last saw each other the simmering chemistry has not gone away but simply intensified. Cat infuriates Jack, he views her as reckless, stubborn and completely careless of her own safety, when he orchestrates her kidnapping off the street to get her out of what he sees as danger certainly doesn't endear him to Cat.
It's tense, action-packed and fast moving from the start, completely unputdownable. Jack is a protector, absolutely alpha and it drives him mad that Cat is willing to risk her life, his instincts are screaming at him to wrap her up and secure her in a very safe place, but Cat is determined to see her mission through and to keep saving all those she can from the horrors of trafficking, unstoppable force met immoveable object. They are fascinating characters - can Jack fight his own DNA and learn to live with Cat as the extremely competent operative he is and actually an equal rather than someone he constantly has to protect and will Cat allow him to compromise for her? I loved every moment of their interaction, the banter, the flirting, the red hot attraction that when they finely give in to is scorching! As expected from Riley Edwards the team banter is brilliant and adds brilliantly to the enjoyment of the book, but beneath that banter hides a complex and equally fascinating team each with their own secrets just waiting to be revealled.
I loved this book, I was glued to it from the start, I wanted to find out the ending, I didn't want it to end = perfect for me. I know I am going to love the whole series, so thank you Riley Edwards for doing what you do because you do it sooooo well.
I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Didn’t love this one- I just couldn’t connect with the characters and the story itself felt rather clique. It was interesting but I wasn’t able to really get into it sadly.

I have been waiting on Jack’s book since we met him in the Takeback series. I wanted to know why Jack is so broody. .Some of the scenes with Jack are why I keep coming back to read a Riley Edwards book. We get to meet a new team including Pete , Mia’s brother who is married to Cole , in Takeback. I loved Cat, she has some one liners that fly out and make you think she could be Zane’s mini me. If you read Riley’s books, you know who Zane is and how he comes up with the most outrageous lines. I laughed a lot at those lines. Her and Jack definitely have the potential to be a great couple. This is a standalone book and we get to see members from other books. Loved it!

This was such a good book loved it!! 4.5✨
Catarina Keys isn't your average women she's strong, street smart (kind of) and an agent. So you would think a women like that wouldn't walk alone down a dangerous street?? Wrong!! black bag over her head and in the back of a van what more can a girl ask for eh. Thank god it's just her sexy best friend who's he's all she's can think about Jack Donovan and his team. Jack who's a ex Navy SEAL and he's furious with kitty Cat 😂 Now they have to work together to stop the bad guys with a little help from his friends.
Overall this was such a brilliant book highly recommend 🥰

If this book is any indication of what’s to come, the series is going to be a must-read.  Fixed Asset is a spin-off from her Takeback Series with Catarina and Jack, whom we were introduced to previously.   I loved these two from the second we meet them, and their story only gets better with each page.

This first installment dives straight into the action. Catarina is a badass free agent who takes on a dangerous mission in Honduras, while Jack, a former Navy SEAL, and his team are on the hunt for trafficked women. What follows is a high-stakes, fast-paced blend of danger, chemistry, and heart.

The romantic suspense is perfectly balanced with intense action scenes paired with delightful romance and deep emotional connection.
Riley does an excellent job of building on the world she created in the Takeback series while carving out a fresh, exciting path with this spin-off.

As is every book from Riley, get ready to not put this one down!  This is a 10+ read you won't want to miss.

A woman who lives on the edge of danger and the overly protective man who struggles to let her fly.

Jack spends nine months getting to know his new teammates while trying in vain to forget the woman who helped his old team on his last mission with them. Call it circumstances or fate, Jack is reunited with Catarina when their missions overlap. Now working together, Jack struggles to contain his overprotective urges to allow Catarina, who's as well trained as him, be her badass self. After a talk with old familiar characters, he realizes if he wants a future with her, he must let her be who she is as they work together to take down the bad guys.

The pair are hot together as they work through their feelings for each other. Jack's growth is impressive as the book goes on, and Catarina shows she understands his struggle throughout. A great start to a new series, and I look forward to learning more about the new team.

HOLY POOF-LA-DOO😳😳😳…what a thrilling, heart racing beginning for a new series!!! An action packed romance filled with a sarcastic, witty and feisty heroine who keeps our over protective, alpha hero on his toes, along with his team. When chaos shows up will Jack, Catarina and team be able to complete the mission or lose it all? Loved it!!!

I think the word unputdownable gets thrown around so much these days but this one a good one. Grab it and start a new Riley Edwards series! There's something so readable and binge-worthy about this story. You will be saying “just one more page” late into the night.

Looking forward to the next book in this series for sure!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Thrilling Start to a Promising New Series!

Fixed Asset is another knockout from Riley Edwards! As a spin-off from her Takeback Series, this first installment dives straight into the action with Catarina and Jack—two characters we were introduced to previously, now front and center in their own gripping story.

Catarina is a badass free agent who takes on a dangerous mission in Honduras, while Jack, a former Navy SEAL, is leading his team on the hunt for a trafficked woman. The twist? They’re both searching for the same person. What follows is a high-stakes, fast-paced blend of danger, chemistry, and heart.

The romantic suspense is perfectly balanced—intense action scenes paired with sizzling romance and deep emotional connection. Edwards does an excellent job of building on the world she created in the Takeback series while carving out a fresh, exciting path with this spin-off.

If this book is any indication of what’s to come, the series is going to be a must-read. Fixed Asset is a fantastic introduction to what promises to be another addictive, action-packed series. Highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

4.5/5⭐️

This was my first Riley Edwards book, and I absolutely loved it. Catarina was such an engaging FMC with a backstory to die for, and I loved that we got both her POV and Jack’s. This book had me on the edge of my seat until the end. It was the perfect blend of action and romance. I know many of the characters appear in prior books, but it made sense as a standalone.

I’ve never read or heard of this author before, BUT definitely going to check out their backlist ASAP!
What a full throttle wild ride from the very beginning and until the end. Fully formed characters, great chemistry between the hero/heroine and a high octane story line. Really thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I haven't read anything by this author, but I really enjoyed this book! I absolutely love books that are romantic suspense and this did not disappoint. This was packed full of nonstop action, it was intense and gripping, and I felt so much adrenaline flowing through my veins. The chemistry between Jack and Catarina is truly off the charts! I think it was even more enhanced because of the high stakes that were involved, but there was also lots of witty banter and the tension was palpable. There were plenty of spicy scenes, but well balanced within the action and didn't overtake the plot. Cat is a strong and stubborn FMC while Jack is a typical protective alpha MMC. Based on the side characters, I'm really excited for the future of this series!

Thank you to NetGalley, Riley Edwards, and Montlake for the eARC of this book.

Another great one from Riley. Loved the banter and characters. A well written romance with action and adventure. While i love this author and have read almost if not all of her work, I think this could be one of my favorites,

While it may have been unrequited love at first site between Jack and Catarina on an op years ago, it will not be until he feels her life is in danger once again that he makes his move. In a story filled with so much angst you cannot put it down, Riley Edwards once again gives her readers characters they instantly fall for with just the right amount of laughter and love. Another wonderful beginning to a series I am sure is going to be filled with 5 star reads.

FIXED ASSET by RILEY EDWARDS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fixed Asset is the first (#1) book in the new ‘Downrange’ series.

Former SIOB agent Catarina Keys is on a CIA assignment in Hondorous when she is kidnapped off the street.
Former Takeback team member Jack Donovan is on a mission with his new team mates when he spots an old acquaintance, a woman he hasn’t seen in nine months. Nine months since they worked together to take down a scumbag and rescue trafficking victims before she disappeared off the face of the earth. Kidnapping her off the side of the road probably didn’t endear him to Catarina but he wasn’t about to leave her prey to the Honduran gangs.
When the pair realise they are looking for the same woman all be it for different reasons, they decide to join together. Jack is aware how careless Catarina can be with her own safety, how reckless and stubbornly goal focused she is. There’s no way he’s going to let her carry on with her assignment without backup whether she wants it or not.
There’s no denying the attraction that simmered between them back in Las Vegas all those months ago is still there, but Cat can’t let emotions get in the way of completing her mission. She has no choice but to try to keep her feelings locked down until this assignment is over and they can both go back to their own lives. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of harmless flirting though right?

We first met Jack & Cat in the final book of Riley’s ‘Takeback’ series ‘Dangerous Affair’, at the end of the book Cat just vanished before they could explore their mutual attraction. **It has to be said here that although we have met many of the characters in this book in previous series, this story is easily read without any previous knowledge**

FIXED ASSET starts off with adrenaline pumping, fast paced action which basically doesn’t slow down until the very end. The storyline entices you in and the pages turn themselves as you desperately need to know what will happen next.
There’s a constant hum of attraction between the two main protagonists, they bounce off each other brilliantly, the flirting is nonstop and when they succumb to their desire the pages are 🔥🔥🔥 - this isn’t a book for the prudish!
Riley Edwards is certainly back at the top of her game- there’s no-one that writes military romance quite like her! The links back to her previous series ‘Takeback’ are flawless and her attention to detail leads to a gripping, heart racing, unputdownable read.
Having read all Riley’s Previous series I personally really enjoyed seeing
What happened to Jack, Pete, Cat etc after the events in Dangerous Affair and whilst off page the mentions to Mia and Cole (Dangerous Mind) were appreciated too. Shep is included in ‘Fixed Asset’ in a deeper role as we learn a bit more about him. I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing him getting his own redemption.

I received an advanced copy of this book with thanks to NetGalley and Montlake. All comments are my own honest, unbiased opinion.

My excitement levels were already at fever pitch knowing I was going into a brand new series with one of my favourite authors, but then this book was so good I had to read it twice back to back

Jack and Catriona are the perfect (insert chefs kiss emoji) kick off to this series. If you have read her Takeback series (not needed but does add some additional colour to this book) then where the heck have you been for starters, and secondly you will already have been jonesing for this couple to finally get their book

I loved Catriona. Just loved her full stop. I loved her heart, her humour and how she was so difficult until she was so easy in her relationship with Jack

Jack is just exactly who I knew he would be and my goodness does it leave big shoes to fill (though we have Mason next who allegedly has mighty big “shoes” so…..)

After fighting his feelings when they first met, Jack is more than gone the next time they cross paths and the biggest and most emotional challenge he faced is allowing both of them the opportunity to still be who they are deep down. As hard as it is for him to see his heart in danger, the way this is worked through gave me goosebumps and was so satisfyingly empowering.

Relationship goals, as Catriona said herself “We’re already rockin’ the hell out of this relationship gig.”

I desperately want more and can’t wait for this series to continue. I loved all the characters, but especially Catriona’s relationship with the mysteriously deep Mason and really hope we get more of that as his story unfolds in what I predict to be a heart wrenching story.
