'The Library Cat' is a charming and oddly tender tribute to the real-life resident cat of Edinburgh University Library, spliced with magical realism and whimsy. The story follows the titular cat as he interacts with humans in the library and beyond and also fellow cats with the ability to 'think' like him. It's a short and easy read that is littered with humour but is also quite reflective- when it isn't making you laugh it will make you stop and think about life. This was the perfect cosy book to curl up with on a Sunday afternoon and brought back memories of my own local feline resident, Paul the Liverpool South Parkway Station cat (may he rest in peace).

Thank you to Black & White Publishing and NetGalley for the chance to read this ARC.

I have to admit that I didn't finish this one. I loved the title and enjoyed the beginning, however I quickly lost interest and found myself having to force the reading. I tired skimming through but still struggled and admitted defeat.
The author himself, didn't seem clear on what his book was and that ultimately was the problem. The title suggested a good story and I ended up feeling a it disappointed. Sorry.
Thanks to Netgalley.

a charming and lovely read. it takes a talented and clever author to make a book like this work. and it did, it really did work. who knew we all needed to know the observations of our four legged friends so much. well we do and i had such fun doing so. our book took on the personality of any good book character. we have his observations from his own vantage point and also his need for obvious snuggles.
there were moments in this book who had me grinning widely and even doing those involuntary little out loud chuckles.
this was a delight to read and somehow worked so well. it will make your day better reading it and im not even a cat person!
the book being set for us with the library and books so much part of it was an added bonus.
i expect those that know the location and those with ties to the university of which i know there are many will love this book even more.

The Library Cat is a charming and quietly moving story told through the eyes of Edinburgh’s famous feline wanderer.

With touches of whimsy and reflective undertones, this book manages to be both lighthearted and thoughtful—a quirky, heartwarming read perfect for those looking for something a little different and delightfully British.
