aren't we all just so happy to meet this book? yes, yes and yes we are. i couldn't wait for the final of the sisters to get her book. and boy did the wait pay off. this is a brilliant, gorgeous, lovely book to read. and i couldn't have put it down if i tried as these two grabbed my eyes, grabbed my heart and made me sit where i was for the whole ride. and actually im not sad i did so!
a romantic read this was ticking all the boxes.
Gabriela has always felt like she was on the outside, the odd one out. all her sisters have coupled up, fallen in love, married. they are all seemingly killing it at life too. so whats wrong with her? why does she feel so stuck in herself?i just wanted to scoop her up. shes such a fiery and brilliant character i was so connected to her as character and willing for her to just love herself too.
with no choices after a certain event she knows its time to brave going back to Mexico. and who is going to the be on the ship(coincidence?) that takes her home, yep Sebastian Brooks. that man ugh, that man is the last person she wants around he right now. right??? but what is it she doesn't like exactly? because soon they are discovering a whole new side and feelings about and for each other.
we get fully immersed into both the time setting of the novel and places that particular time transformed or effected. all the while keeping an eye and focus on our pairs romance. but that setting and the era period was important to who they were and how they arrived at their own story.
the delightful scenes between our pair was just swoooooon in buckets. i was shy. i was bashful and i was feeling all the feels for these two as they finally, magically SEE each other.
this book couldn't have gone better for me. i loved it from the first pages until the last and was even after id finished left with the most brilliant feeling you get from reader superstar books.

A thoroughly enjoyable romance, with a wonderful main character in Gabriela Luna. She was the shining star of this story for me, and I loved how she and Sebastian brought out the best in each other. It was slow build between the two, recognising that they had misjudged each other and letting their guards down around each other leading to the romance blossom.
There were some plot decisions near the end of the novel which led to a third-act tension I couldn't really see the need for including, it seemed to me to be drama for dramas sake. I still liked the plot overall though.
I'd give this book 4.5 stars, highly recommend to anyone looking for a well-written historical romance with characters you easily love and root for! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Part of me really regrets coming in at the end of a triology to read this series. The third in the Luna Sisters triology by Liana De la Rosa, Gabriela and his Grace follows the titular Luna sister and her former ‘enemy’, Duke of Whitfield Sebastian Brooks. Initially they return (for her) to Mexico as she is concerned about a scandal of someone trying to marry her against her will only to find Sebastian also onboard the ship heading to the same destination.
Overall I found their relationship incredibly cute, a slowish burn until the 60% mark when things heat up. Ironically, then they end up in the same situation as the one she ran from originally.
However once we hit that point pacing seems to have been lost a bit. We mostly brush over the actual wedding part which felt a shame and when his brothers are introduced quite far into the book and not really mentioned before I was a little confused. But all of this does come from someone who didn’t read the first two in the series (granted about the other sisters).
Overall I liked it enough, it was a very sweet and steamy romance and I definitely enjoyed my time with it - and I will be heading out to read the other two in the series.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

"Grab the headboard love..." Let me tell you the noise that came out of my mouth when I read this line was not made for public spaces! Luckily I was alone, but god, a bit of warning would have been nice. But I digress, if you're looking for a slow burn dislike to love between a headstrong and sharp witted fmc and a notorious rake whose eye's (and body) become only for her, I can't recommend this enough. This was a highly anticipated read for me, and it met those expectations in every way.
The Luna sisters have my heart, but none more than Gabriela, Gabby. As the youngest sibling she had to fight for her voice, for space in her family, to be acknowledged by her father as something more than another failure by their mother to provide the male heir he so desperately wanted. And now, with both her older sisters advantageously married and helping the Mexican cause in one way or another, she still feels like that young girl, desperate to be acknowledged for her own strengths and knowledge, not just what she can bring to the family by marrying someone. De la Rosa really pulled on my heartstrings with Gabby's story, seeing her be this untouchable figure in London society, never afraid to speak her mind, to becoming a pale shadow of herself around her father who only see's her as a pretty face he can palm off for political sway.
And then there's Sebastian Brooks, Duke of Whitfield, someone Gabby took an instant dislike to after their unfortunate first meeting. He is someone also struggling under the weight of his father, just not in the same way as Gabby, rather Sebastian's father died leaving his Dukedom in a large amount of debt and two bastards for him to raise. Knowing he needed money to save his family and home Sebastian invested in a Mexican mine with Sirius, Isabel's husband, something that puts him in the perfect position to chaperone Gabby on her trip back to Mexico. I loved Sebastian, but there was one part of this book towards the end where he became a bit of an idiot for no reason whatsoever and that definitely annoyed me and took me out of the story a little. These two antagonize each other, throwing the sharpest of barbs, never holding back with each other, but it's these heightened emotions that allow them to see the truth of one another, allow them to come to know each other better than either could have expected.
One thing I've loved about this series is how much time De la Rosa has given to the political climate as well as the romance. Most historical romance's stay more shallow when it comes to the political nature of the time, sticking more to the face value, but De la Rosa really delves into the nitty gritty of Mexican and British politics, and I learnt so much about this historical period thanks to that. This political plot never detracts from the romance in anyway, more it highlights it, brings it to the forefront thanks to our sisters wanting to show the world the plight of their country, hoping beyond hope that they can provide some kind of her for their people. She writes her fmc's as incredibly knowledgeable, able to charm and get their point across at the same time, and I have really loved following, not just the romances, but the political side plot that's been woven through since book one.
Now for the romance. If the first sentence of this review doesn't let you know what you're in for, I don't know what to tell you. It's slow burn, beautifully so. Allowing both of these characters time to overcome their first impressions, well Gabby anyway, Sebastian was in love with her from their first meeting, but there was a lack of trust that needed to be built before anything romantic could occur, and De la Rosa really nailed that. She allowed Sebastian to see Gabby at her weakest, and instead of using is as fuel for their enemy style relationship, he stuck up for her at every turn, made sure she knew she was valued by someone, and I loved him all the more for it. But when the steam hits, it hits big time. This thing between them had been building from their first meeting and De la Rosa really shows that with how they come together. My one issue was Sebastian's omitting a pretty big part of his life. I hate the misunderstanding trope with a vengeance and there was a certain part of this book where he acted like a complete prat. It seemed like it was put in there purely to add some drama towards the end, but it just wasn't needed in my opinion.
Even with that issue though I still love this book. The series as a whole is a firm favourite of mine and I will absolutely be checking out whatever De la Rosa writes next.

From London to Mexico
From enemies to friends
Respect and equality
I have entered this series on book three and while it didn't matter to my enjoyment of the individual story, I definitely want to go back and read the other Luna sisters' stories now. It's been a while since I've read a historical romance and reading a Mexican heroine with the backdrop of the political overthrow in Mexico felt very fresh and welcome.
The story started in London with Gabriela having been away from Mexico for a number of years due to the rocky political situation. Through this story, the reader learns a little about the politics of Mexico at that time, attempted colonisers and the overthrow and reinstatement of Mexican power. Gabriela's parents were back in Mexico, as was one of the other Luna sisters. The three Luna sisters were strong supporters of one another, wholly feminist but the parents were the opposite of all those things.
As to the romance, I enjoyed that it took time for the feelings to percolate. This was all enhanced by forced proximity (my favourite). His Grace was caring, a little arrogant and a bit bowled over by Gabriela to his own consternation. I enjoyed these two on page in all the ways.
I'm definitely going to read more from this author.
Thank you Piatkus for the review copy.

"Gabriela and His Grace" wraps up The Luna Sisters trilogy, and in my opinion, it's the strongest book of the three. It has all the ingredients I look for in a historical romance: a bold and smart heroine, a mysterious and charming man, and a vivid sense of the time period that feels natural and real. Honestly, what more could you want?
Gabriela Luna is a spirited and intelligent woman who refuses to settle for a marriage that doesn’t suit her. After escaping yet another suitor who’s only after her money, she decides to return to Mexico, even though she knows her father won’t be pleased she’s coming back without a husband. On the ship, she discovers that Sebastian Brooks, the Duke of Whitfield, is also headed to Mexico to inspect a silver mine tied to her brother-in-law. Sebastian is hoping the investment will help restore his family’s estate, which has fallen into decline.
From the start, Gabriela and Sebastian clash. They argue often, exchanging clever remarks and refusing to back down. But as they spend time together on the ship and later in Mexico, their arguments start to feel more like flirting, and the attraction between them becomes undeniable. When Gabriela’s father begins pressuring her to pick a husband, Sebastian finds himself standing up for her in unexpected ways.
Liana De la Rosa delivers a fun and emotional love story that’s full of energy and charm. The main characters feel genuine and easy to root for. The story also includes real historical elements—specifically, the political situation in Mexico during the 1860s—which add depth without taking over the romance. Even though this is the third book in the series, it works perfectly on its own.
If you enjoy historical romances with smart dialogue, fiery chemistry, and characters who challenge each other in all the right ways, this one is worth picking up. I’ll definitely be checking out the earlier books in the series, too.
4.5 stars.
Thanks to Berkley Publishing for the advance copy. This book is expected to release on August 26, 2025.

Thank you to little brown books ( Piaktus) for providing me with a proof copy via NetGalley
Liana has done it once again written a historical romance that has me kicking my feet + giggling + swooning .
Honestly I adore Sebastian so much - he’s a duke and he’s hot !! -also god the way he feels for her!!! Their chemistry is off the charts and I swooned for both of them . Especially when these two stop the “Hatred/ disdain” they have for each other or rather that gabi has for Sebastian - cus then things truly get interesting and we get to see Sebastian truly down bad for her and truly I am here for it .
This is a slowburn and by that I mean the romance stuff + spice didn’t even happen until at least 60% and truly it was worth the wait - worth the 2 other book wait ( to finally get their story ) Cus honestly these two omg - the banter - the him calling her darling ( that truly had me swooning - the darling . Him also giving her this nickname that had me swooning . God I was here for it all .
Knowing that Sebastian is meant to be this playboy guy the duke who sleeps around truly had me swooning cus I love me a fboy who falls for one women and then is down bad like truly down bad + truly fascinated by her . Especially when hes obsessed in ways before he’s even aware of it and truly Sebastian is that . This man is obviously down bad for her long before she is for him. From the way he thinks super highly of her from the very start + this man is a duke a down bad duke !!
I adore Sebastian a lot
I honestly loved seeing Sirius and Isabel too ( in Mexico ) and seeing these two be happily married in Mexico and ofc Isabel having her powerful job + hot man to back her up was aah . Seeing them both so happy together ( especially since i absolutely loved Isabel and the rogue)
Having this book mainly set in Mexico was honestly fun considering the past 2 books were set in 1860s in Britain so seeing it set in 1860s in Mexico . Seeing the culture and everything!! It’s also set in the 1860s England and obviously on a ship too .
The cover for this book is so beautiful and Sebastian is such a Cutie pie and god is Gabriela is so beautiful.
The 3rd act conflict although didn’t need to happen worked - this book was such an enjoyable read and I am so thankful to have had the chance to read this as an arc . Especially since I absolutely adore this series so much !!

I really enjoyed Gabriela and His Grace! Gabriela is such a strong, fun character — I loved watching her stand up for herself and grow throughout the story. The chemistry between her and Sebastian is seriously hot, with some great witty banter and sweet moments that felt totally real.
The historical setting added a cool layer to the story without feeling heavy, and I appreciated how the author wove in the culture and politics naturally. Plus, seeing the Luna sisters again was such a nice touch — their bond feels so genuine and made the story even better.
Overall, this was a super satisfying read. If you’re into historical romance with strong characters and a slow-burn love story, I’d definitely recommend it!
*thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

I absolutely adored this series! The way Liana wove such rich and interesting Mexican history into every book was a delight. I enjoyed every book for the romance of course but this really drew me in. It’s such a joy when I read something that opens my eyes to something new and no genre does this better in my opinion than a romance!
I am so happy and honoured to have been able to read an arc of book three!
I knew Gabriela and Sebastian would be my favourites as soon as I read Gideon and Ana’s book. There is nothing better to me than sharp banter and couple who are truly each others equals but desperately try to deny it as long as they possibly can.
I adored how this “rivalry” built up over the first two books but to get such a deep dive into both characters made me love them even more. This did not disappoint at all!
In fact, I wasn’t sure I could enjoy anything more than their back and forth but as the book went on I loved seeing the softer sides of them both and even more than that, their fire. To see Gabby choose herself so fiercely and Sebastian’s constant need to protect and defend her, while knowing she didn’t need him for either…SWOON!!!
It was the perfect way to end the series and see all three of the sisters find their happiness and autonomy and love between themselves as well as the gorgeous romances was such a joy! Liana is a must read author for me now and I will be devouring her backlist as I greedily wait for whatever she does next!!
