I only discovered after downloading that this was only the first chapter of the book and not the entire book. And although it's exciting to get a first chapter of a book, I actually dislike reading those without continuing with the rest of the story. However, yesterday I was stuck in a stranded train and this was the perfect chapter to keep my mind occupied. This first chapter clearly sets the tone for what's to come, while also in a way summarizing what has happened to us. I already have a physical copy of the entire book ready. I hope to have time to dive into it soon! The stakes have clearly never been higher, the plan never more dangerous and I'm a little terrified not everyone is gonna make it...

Didn't realise it was only the first chapter but what a start to the finale of this epic series! Can't wait to read the full book 💛

Unfortunately, I’m unable to provide a proper review for Three Shattered Souls due to a file issue. The copy I received only includes a brief character list and part of Chapter 1 — the rest of the book is missing. I wasn’t able to re-download the file, as it seems the title has already been archived, and I couldn’t find a way to request a new version from the publisher via NetGalley.
This is quite disappointing, especially because I really enjoyed the first book and was excited to finish the series. I hope to have the chance to read the full version at some point, and I’d be happy to submit a full review once I can.

I'm a fairly fast reader, but I found myself purposefully slowing down as I read because I wasn't ready for this series to end. I loved the character growth that occurred throughout Three Shattered Souls, especially with Aeri and Sora. I find it interesting that so many reviews of the previous books describe Aeri as immature and selfish because, in my opinion, she is anything but those things. Aeri was the glue that held all the blades together. I'm truly not ready to say goodbye to her or Sora. However, as much as I wish that Mai Corland would turn this trilogy into a longer series, I appreciated how the trilogy ended.
Ugh, I can't believe it's over. What a ride The Broken Blades turned out to be.
Thank you NetGalley and Zaffre for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I thought this was the fully book, but it's only the first chapter. Chapter 1 picks right back up after the events of book 2. Excited to read the rest. Borrowed the audiobook from the library.

This is the first chapter of the book.
I wish that this preview was longer, but it was a great beginning for the book.
The characters from the previous book are back and there is action from the start.
The start gets 5 stars from me and I can't wait to read the rest of the book.

a solid, emotional finale to a series that knows how to ruin you in the best way. i loved being back with this chaotic, stabby found family — the povs were strong as ever, and the character arcs felt earned, even when they hurt (which was often). the worldbuilding stayed sharp and the blend of action, politics, and heartbreak delivered. the pacing was a bit uneven at times, and i didn’t love every resolution, but overall it wrapped up the trilogy in a way that felt true to the story and these messy, lovable characters. not perfect, but definitely satisfying.

A wonderfully atmospheric start to one of my favorite series! I really enjoyed the Royo chapter – he’s one of my favorite characters. I’m excited to dive into the full book. It’s also great that the story includes a helpful recap of previous events, making it easy to jump back in.

I think something really odd happened with this galley. When I requested the book (on the morning it was loaded), it definitely said Three Shattered Souls, and had a Request button. A day later, the title changed to Three Shattered Souls - Chapter 1, and changed to a Read Now button. I specifically didn't click the button at this time, since it still said my request was pending as I didn't want to get just chapter 1 when I had requested the full book. Another day later, the title changed back to not including 'Chapter 1'. I have just received an approval for the galley, so sent it to my Kindle and the version that was sent just included chapter one. I was hoping that since I made the request for the full book, that would be the version I was sent. Unfortunately not, so I won't update Goodreads, StoryGraph or Fable with this review.
In addition to Chapter 1, the galley includes an author's note, which handily recaps the events of books 1 and 2.

Friendly advice maybe mention in the description that it's just one chapter. I knew something was fishy when I found it in the Read Now section.
But anyways as far as first chapters go this one was good. And I can't wait to finish this series.

The forst chapter was not enough, I am SO glad it comes out soon so I can immediately jump in! Its going to be a wild ride, I know it.

I must've misunderstood when I requested this as it is only the first chapter of the book. For that reason, I will not be leaving reviews on other sites for it.
As far as opening lines go. This one is pretty good at drawing you in. This first chapter does a great job of recapping what happened at the end of the previous book and explaining who each character is so that you have a good idea of what's going on straight away.

Amazing!! I can't express enough how desperate I am to read this!!
Thank you for sharing the first chapter!

I absolutely jumped at the chance to read the first chapter in the final instalment of the broken blades trilogy.
Mai Corland is now an auto buy author for me and after reading this first chapter I can’t wait to see how this series ends.

First, Mai Corland is now an auto-buy author for me. She wields a mighty pen!
Second, my thanks to Entangled Publishing for the amazing opportunity to review this arc.
Now! On to my review.
Anyone who follows me on IG (@dbooknook) knows I have been raving about The Broken Blades series from book 1, Five Broken Blades. And I have to say, I was worried about how this would end, because in book 2, Four Ruined Realms, things went decidedly all the way wrong. It was hard to imagine a way forward.
But this is why Mai Corland is an auto-buy author for me now.
She takes us through from the end of book 2 (with a very helpful recap at the start) straight to a conclusion that, even though it broke my heart, it also made sense. This book explored the very depths of friendship, understanding, and how human beings struggle to hold on to their morals and values when faced with immense turmoil. What decisions are best? Who do you choose to trust? All questions our beloved characters had to face. I have to say; the action is a lot more of the stealth variety in this book, but still heart pounding, as we find out exactly what relics can do, and even scarier, what they cost.
My favorite aspects of this book involved the mix of adventure, with love, and companionship. Along the way, everyone had to go out on a limb, and as readers, we never knew if it would be an excellent decision or a bad one. Talk about keeping you tense as you read! I loved it though. The changing perspectives only added to this. You kept getting viewpoints from different parts of the kingdom that obviously all the characters did not have, and it made my brain tingle in anticipation of what would happen when they met up! I was not disappointed!
The writing and rhythm of the entire book flowed effortlessly. This was a well-woven tale of relationships, and ALSO a story of power! In between the love and betrayal is a deep lesson about power and how it corrupts in the wrong hands. We also dive into what leadership should look like versus what it too many times ends up being. This made this story, this series an enthralling fantasy with fascinating dives into human nature, filled with lessons that will stay with me.
I really loved this book. It was everything I hoped for and more in a series end.
I am sad.
I am happy.
I am yearning for more.
I am also hopeful of a new beginning, Mai Corland!
This is a series to start if you haven’t, and one to look forward to enjoying even as it ends when Three Shattered Souls releases on July 15th.

This was just a short sample of the first chapter of book 3 in this amazing series, and it was all I needed to be right back there with all my favorite MCs.
It had the perfect beginning, giving us a short recap (LOVE, btw, when books do this) and then starting with Royo's sarcastic POV.
I can't wait to be fully back with this cast and in this world. Very anxious about the title tho, seeing as the titles of this series seem to be indicators on how the book tends to end.

Erm, I need the rest of the book ASAP please! What a way to start a book and it's only the first chapter. I misread and didn't realise it was only 1 chapter so I have been left wanting all of it like right now. Definitely recommend and cannot wait for the final book to come out

I immediately need the rest of the book. I adore this series and need to know what happens! I can't wait to be back in this world with these amazing characters who I love so much!

I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this final book in the trilogy so I jumped at the chance to read the first chapter early!
The book starts with a short recap, very helpful for those like me who forget all the details of a book after finishing it. Although, for those who would prefer to skip the recap, we get Royo's take on past events from his point of view in the first chapter.
The first chapter already had me hooked, I cannot wait to read more!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK for providing me with a digital copy of Chapter 1 of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have been obsessed with the world Mai Corland has created in the Broken Blades trilogy ever since taking part in the cover reveal for Five Broken Blades. I love the morally grey, complex and deeply nuanced characters she has created and with each novel I have been both excited and a little terrified to read more. I now eagerly await this, the final novel, and wow what a first chapter to tease us with.
Firstly, I love that Corland has provided us again with an incredibly helpful cast list and recap - I wish more series authors would do this. Then to have Royo as our first chapter POV, ah perfection. We’re straight back into the action following on from where Four Ruined Realms ended and honestly I need to read the rest like yesterday. I cannot wait. I’m scared. I’m desperate to find out what happens next!
