This was pure holiday magic. The kind of feel-good, heartwarming read that makes you want to curl up with a blanket, cocoa, and twinkle lights on in the background. It hit that perfect balance of cozy charm and emotional beats, and I loved how effortlessly it pulled me into the season. I can already tell this will be a reread for me during December.

First, the illustrations are lovely—absolutely adorable—and props to the illustrator, Amanda Morrow, for that. The story is a fun and realistic family trip to check out the Christmas lights in their neighborhood, but it’s the heartwarming “twist” at the end (when they reveal the world’s best Christmas light) that had me gasp in delight. I had a feeling where it was going because it’s Zonderkidz, but it still gave me all the feels.
The story features a mixed-race family (loved it, but it reminded me of mine, so I’m biased), and…it’s a light-up book, guys. Enough said.
Publisher recommends it for ages 3 to 6, but it’s for all ages!
The World's Best Christmas Light will be published September 9, 2025.
Thank you to NetGalley Zonderkidz-Books, Zonderkidz, and Chelsea Tornetto for this free, advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

The World's Best Christmas Light is a light up board book, but we read the kindle version, so it was just a simple story for us. In the story, a family bundles up and heads out to see the Christmas Lights and decide which ones are the best. They look at houses, stores, downtown area where the huge tree is set up and eventually end up at the church, where they decide that the star over the manger scene is the world's best Christmas light. Every year, the grandkids, their parents and I do this together. We drive around stopping along the way to admire various lights and decorations set up at houses in my community. We enjoy this, but this book put a different spin on it. I wasn't expecting the ending, but as we are a Christian family, it was perfect. I will look at the lights differently this year. I haven't read this one to the kids yet, but I will. I also will read this one to the Sunday School kids sometime in December, as it has a really good message for them. I would like to see what the actual board book is like. My grands are too old for that, but I think it would be a good book for families with toddlers.

This is a delightful, colorful, and joyful picture book that depicts the fun of driving around to look at Christmas lights, seeking out the best display, and finding a favorite, in the nativity scene. Families that are Christian and celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday will enjoy this lovely book. The characters are diverse, with a mixed-race family and the illustrations are modern and engaging.
According to the description, this board book lights up. I didn't see the effect in ebook form, but would think this would also add to the charm.
I highly recommend this book for libraries, Christian schools, and church nursery rooms.

I received a free copy of, The World's Best Christmas Light, by Chelsea Tornetoo, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I loved the illustrations in this book. A beautiful family has carols playing on the radio as they on the hunt for the best Christmas lights. I really enjoyed this Christmas book, where they found, the worlds best Christmas lights!

This is a beautifully illustrated cozy Christmas children’s book. It follows a family going out one evening to look at the Christmas lights around there town and deciding which one is best. The bright colours and rhyme make it a perfect gift for young readers.
