I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I enjoyed this book. The chapters were short so it was a fast read. I felt like it was a typical thriller that has been done before. It did have some twists at the end. I also liked that things were revealed early in the book and you didn't have to wait until the end. Overall, it was a good read. Through DNA testing, Piper finds out that she has a biological sister. A very rich sister. Piper contacts her and they meet. Piper wants to have a relationship with her sister but things don't work out quite that way for her.

Absolutely great book from N L Hinkens, if this is anything to go by I will be reading many more from this author! Finding a long lost sister should be a dream but Callie is more like a nightmare!
Highly recommended.

First, I want to thank Netgalley and Joffe Books for this ARC!
N.L. Hinkens has been a pretty new author to me, when I recall correctly, I've only read 'The Neighbor' and 'The Bridal Shower' before this one, but I've really enjoyed both of them.
I was a bit conflicted about this one, even when the blurb did sound interesting. Mainly because Piper seemed to be so naive all the time. She is so desperate to believe - to want - Callie to be her sister that she just does not see all the things that do not add up. Like, there are so many red flags, really - not only Callie quickly asking Piper to do something for her, making clear this is not a happy rainbow-and-unicorns reunion.. On the other hand, I can relate to the feeling. I've always wanted to be accepted and liked as well. Still do, actually.
I am also known to usually just look past those flaws in books and characters when I still enjoy the story. Like, I know all of this is not real, so, as long as I feel entertained, all is good for me. So, given the story still did grip me with the fast pace and the twists being thrown at me, I am giving this one four stars. Still think this is for you when you can look past our FMC not always being the smartest one....

Piper finds out she has a sister called Callie and decides to meet her. Callie is kind of a bitch; she's married to a very rich guy she accuses of being abusive, and she's worried about her stepdaughter who just went missing. When her husband dies (we're a bit murky on the details at first), she asks Piper for her help.
How do I say this nicely? I hated this book. So much. I can deal with complicated and unlikable main characters (I actually love them), but Piper? She's just plain dumb. She blindly trusts her sister that she just met; I'm sorry, but someone being related to you doesn't make them trustworthy. I spent way too much time screaming "oh come on" as she made one stupid decision after another. The premise of the book was ridiculous; the final twists were worse; I really struggled to get through the end and honestly didn't care about what actually happened.

I gave this book 5 stars. To date I have read and enjoyed EVERY N. L. Hinkens books. I could not put tgis boo down and you will not either. No one's agenda is what they pretend it is.

Long Lost Sister is a fast-paced and twisty read that kept me turning the pages. While I enjoyed the suspense and the plot developments, I struggled a bit with the believability of the main character. Her immediate trust in a stranger—especially one who was rude and dismissive—felt unrealistic and made it difficult to connect with her. Her quick defense of an arrogant, disrespectful sister raised even more questions. These choices made her seem like an unreliable narrator from the start, which pulled me out of the story at times. That said, the book delivered plenty of surprises and tension, making it an entertaining and engaging read overall.

Imagine finding your long lost sister. It should be a joyous occasion. Well turns out not so much. This book will keep you guessing to the end.

Piper and Callie are sisters who were adopted by different families when they were infants. They knew nothing about one another until they were adults. That's what makes this book so totally ridiculous. Why would Piper risk everything for a sister she just met?? Why would Callie even rely on Piper to help her??
I would definitely classify this book as a popcorn thriller. It was such a quick and easy read. I was hooked right from the first chapter. I actually liked Piper's character, and I could relate to her just wanting a family to love. After a few twists and mishaps, the book ended in somewhat of a surprise.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion/review.

When her friend Marco pays for het to have put on a genealogy site there was no one more surprised than her when she had a match for a sister come up that she knew never existed. Excited to meet her Piper was taken aback by the reception that she got from her sister Callie when they finally met up. Callie had obviously done well for herself and had married into a well known wealthy family. She wasn't expecting to hear from her again after their meeting but when Callie said she needed her help she went straight away. This is something she will soon come to regret.
A fantastic book that I soon read. Highly recommend it.

This was a fast paced read and I enjoyed it, though I found it to be very unrealistic, from the beginning when the sisters who were both adopted had the same last name, to the end when they made decisions no reasonable people would make. The story centers on Piper, who finds out she has a sister named Callie through a genealogy site. She is desperate to form a connection with Callie but the way Callie acts is confusing, though it’s clear that she is keeping secrets.
The sisters get tied up in a murder mystery and while it was exciting to read, Piper did a lot of really stupid things and I really had to suspend my disbelief. That being said, there were some good twists in the story and I found myself surprised by a few of them. The ending tied everything up just a little too neatly, in my opinion, but I think some will like it.
Overall, this was a fun read that I finished in just a few hours but I had to get passed how unrealistic it seemed. Thanks to NetGalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Long-Lost Sister follows Piper, an adoptee, after she discovers she has a bio sister. Piper reaches out to Callie on Facebook and asks her to reconnect in person. Callie is everything she's not: rich, sophisticated, and perfect. She doesn't care for Piper, but her step-daughter, Athena, disappeared on the same day Piper reached out to her. Is it a coincidence or is there more than meets the eye?
The blurb describes this novel as "perfect for fans of Freida McFadden". I agree if you enjoy Freida's books, you will definitely love this one. This novel is all about short chapters, accessible language, and fast-paced action and dialogue, Don't let the comparison fool you, though. The storyline of Long-Lost Sister is a brand new, original idea (if you know, you know), and the mystery will keep you guessing and wanting to turn the pages.
The main character, Piper, is so desperate for connection and belonging that she couldn't see a red flag if it hit her right in the face. I prefer to read strong female characters, so I found her too frustrating. Piper's long-lost sister, Callie, is supposed to be the villian but I ended up enjoying her character better than Piper. Callie is clever, strong, and has an acerbic sense of humour. What's not to like?
Sadly for me, personally, the ending and the final twist were icky, hence knocking off a star. I really enjoyed reading this book and its fast-paced mystery, and loved playing the "unreliable character / is she the victim or villian" game. The twist however was a total letdown because of the topic it involves... big yikes. If you can stomach the topic then you'll definitely love the twist as the ending is well constructed and ties up all loose ends.

Fun fast pace page turner this won't be my last from this author I loved how the story came together and I love a good twist

I felt that the sister acting superior and then in the next meeting being scared and unable to make a decision didn't make sense. Either one or the other would have been better in my opinion. I really didn't like the relationship at the end. It didn't seem like it developed throughtout the book and it was almost a strange after thought. I also didn't think her writing a book and it being a bestseller for the conclusion fit the main character. Her selling her story to a publisher would have seemed more realistic. I did overall enjoy the storyline.

I never knew I had a sister. I found her through a DNA test. Now she’s asking me to do something unthinkable! Great read! This book had chilling suspense, fantastic characters, murder, mystery, intrigue, and a few jaw dropping moments! The story was very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and Joffe books for sharing this book with me!

The chances of this book having the same names as family members and being somewhat triggering because of that is just bad luck. This book has such an amazing writing style and such a cool concept but due to my own experiences I actually have to put this book down for now. Part of me wants to buy it, cross out the character names and change them and then devour this one.
That being said, this is a good thriller! I’m bummed I can’t read it. Totally a weird me thing.
Thank you for approving me for this eARC. I’m excited to see the other books this author has written as they are incredibly talented. I appreciate the opportunity to leave honest feedback voluntarily.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of this book.
I was looking forward to reading Long-Lost Sister expecting a good twist. What I didn’t expect was how deeply I’d get pulled into the emotional undercurrent of the story. It starts with a seemingly simple premise: a woman discovers a sister she never knew she had. But from there, everything begins to unravel—and fast.
Callie is rich, beautiful, and clearly troubled. The moment she meets our narrator, the air between them is thick with tension. What struck me most wasn’t the thriller aspect (although it’s done really well), but the fragile, cautious dance between two women bound by blood but strangers in every other way. You can feel the narrator’s uncertainty, her yearning for connection, and then the dread as things spiral out of control.
The writing is accessible and fast-paced—I found myself saying “just one more chapter” until I hit the end. There’s glamour, fear, suspicion, and a level of psychological depth that really surprised me. And the final twist? Chilling.
It reminded me of how even family ties—those supposed to be safe and grounding—can feel dangerous when secrets and survival start shaping the relationship.
If you like thrillers that aren’t just about plot but also about people, this one’s worth a read.

Imagine finding a sister on a genealogical site. A sister you didn't know you had.
You meet, and she is the night to your day......... totally different. Totally opposite. You are poor, she is ultra rich........ and she doesn't seem interested in maintaining contact, and then she needs you - desperately.
Short quick chapters, to the point, and so freaking twisty that your head will turn 180 trying to keep up.
Loved this novel. It is tense and suspenseful, scary and unputdownable. I read it in one sitting.

A good fast paced read.
Well written characters and an action packed storyline.
Read in two sittings.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

It seems that not a lot of people read N.L.. Hinkens. I have been reading and enjoying her books for years. Long Lost Sister was great!! As an adoptee and a birth mother, I am always interested in books that have adoption as a part of the story line. Fast-paced and great plot, I can’t wait to read more of her books.
