I decided to listen to the Audio book mainly excited about narrator as the sample showed he had an amazing voice. Thank you to NetGalley for providing this audio book for my consideration this is all my own rambling, honest and personal opinions
This book is the 7th in a series and I’ve not read any of the other books, and yet I could fully follow this story so although I would recommend start at the beginning this is also a stand alone book, which builds such an exciting world. I am going to have to read the rest now and I like nothing more than reading an author who has written plenty of other books.
This book looks at time travel and an alternative society manage this. The pace is fast and I found the attention to details so interesting. I didn’t find the characters as rounded but I’m thinking they are repeat characters so I’m thinking going through the previous books will add layers to them. I would recommend to any lover of Sci fi related to time travel, definitely any Dr Who fans. Sci fi is my favourite genre and it’s years since I’ve enjoyed a Sci fi book. I’ve read some outlets describing it as young adult, nothing in the content made me think that. There is also nothing in this book that would make me worry about a young teen reading this, unlike many of the Sci Fi books I read as a teenager.
I don’t want to say too much about the story because I don’t want to spoil it but the premise is an alternative society where people have time travel skills and try to stop criminals with time travelling skills from causing harm to the time line. There are chases through time, a heist and mysterious people with skills that seem supernatural. The book ends well with threads tided along with leaving you longing to know how their lives continue which, for me is perfect.
I’ve gone onto the book’s website and been sent an additional short story and have just started that. Once I’m finished I’m going to buy each one, probably in audio then the physical book. I can’t give a bigger recommendation to any book than I want to read all the other ones the author has written. This has so given me back my love for Sci Fi.
