Wild rose is A cozy country romance. Two people who can't stand eachother but fall in love. Sometimes opposites do attract.

This was a cute small town cowboy romance! I’m a sucker for brother’s best friend trope. Rose is the strong wild child that doesn’t want others to know she’s struggling. Wilder is the cowboy who pretends that the wild child annoys him 😂

Overall this was a great romance, I enjoyed the depth of the characters. I think the author did an excellent job at addressing the traumas that the main characters have gone through. I hope to see more in this series soon!

Grumpy cowboy, sunshine FMC? Yes! Brothers best friend? Check! A little workplace forced proximity? Sign me up! I loved this book & can’t wait for more in this series!

Tired city girl finds herself with a summer job at a ranch with her brother and his grumpy cowboy bestfriend as her boss 🤭 This was such a fun read. I enjoyed the story and the side characters just as much BUT these characters sincerely need some therapy and boundaries!! Looking at you MCs (yes literally all of the men in this book need help) 👀

This was the perfect set up for the rest of the series though and I’m super excited to see how the side characters grow and come together!

Grumpy cowboy, check. Amazing MFC, check. I loved this book. I’m an absolute sucker for a cowboy romance and this didn’t disappoint. Read in less than a day and can’t wait for the next in the series! Wilder Thorne, you have my heart.

Wild Rose by Roxanne Tully is the first book in the Blue River Springs Series. Wilder is busy running his family ranch while his brother is in mourning when his best friend convinces him to hire his sister for the summer. Rose arrives in Colorado and shakes things up, while also working through her own trauma. I really loved this grumpy x sunshine, cowboy romance and could hardly put it down! The banter was great with a great slow burn developing their relationship. The dual POV worked well with the story and the moderate spice was just right. I can’t wait for more books in this series!

Thank you to NetGalley, Embla Books, and the author for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — 4 Stars

Roxanne Tully mentioned in her acknowledgments that Wild Rose was a joy to write — well, it was just as much of a joy to read!

Grumpy cowboy meets sunshine city girl? Yes, please! It’s a classic combo, and Tully delivers it with warmth, charm, and undeniable chemistry.

I absolutely loved the dynamic between the main characters — their banter, tension, and connection had me hooked from the first chapter. I couldn’t put it down!

This was my first book by Roxanne Tully, and I’m already diving into her backlist. Dallas and Willow’s story is going straight to the top of my TBR!

Huge thanks to NetGalley and Embla Books for the ARC.

Wild Rose has some great tropes with all the potential, theres;

🤠 Grumpy x Sunshine
🤠 Cowboy
🤠 Age Gap
🤠 Small Town
🤠 Brother’s Best Friend
🤠 Boss x Employee
🤠 Second Chance
🤠 MH Rep

Wild Rose had all the right ingredients with a grumpy cowboy with a heart of gold, a free-spirited heroine, and all the right tropes. On paper? My dream.

Rose is easy to root for at times. She's carefree, bold, and relatable in her uncertainty, but her lack of direction did make her feel a little immature. She had some real growth to do, and I wish her development arc was more impactful. Wilder, on the other hand, was cowboy perfection. The man is basically up there with the "grumpy but soft for her," leaderboard.

That said, while I enjoyed this book, I didn’t quite feel it. It’s clear this was going for that Elsie Silver energy, but some of the emotional marks missed the depth they needed. I wanted a bit more of a knock out effect.

Still, it’s a cozy, comforting read that works well as a cleanser between heavier romances. A solid series opener.

I am obsessed! Something about a man falling harder to someone opposite of him. They are so cute! Wilder is definitely a grumpy man

This is the first book in a series and it sets up the world of the ranch and surrounding town. Rose is recovering from a trauma by making her life very small. She goes to help her brother's best friend, Wilder, manage his ranch. He needs help because his brother is grieving the death of his fiance. A lot happens in this book for a 300 page book. Probably because it is building a world, but man there are at least 3 love stories, a rival ranch, a hockey star, a small town, a surprise kid, and grief. The sheer amount of puzzle pieces also means that nothing is that deep; issues are more surface level. The characters are interesting and the best part of this book. As a therapist who works at a college in NYC, I didn't love how they treated therapy or college. There were some liberties taken, especially with Rose's future plans at the end of the book because of you know, laws and licensure. But anyway. If you thought the Rebel Blue Ranch series was a little too deep, or wish that Lucy Score wrote a cowboy series after the Knockemout series, this book is for you. I was hoping for a bit more, but it was a fast and cozy read. I finished this book in a few hours. 3 stars. Thanks to Net Galley and Embla Books for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Rose is a spit fire FMC who acts out while she does processes her trauma. Wilder is a strait laced grumpy cowboy who doesn’t have time for romance and needs to get his ranch in order. The two couldn’t have less in common until they have everything in common. I loved the banter between these two characters and the growth they both have. I do wish Rose maybe had a bit more of a character arc & we got a bonus chapter at the end but overall this book had me hooked & the spicy scenes were 🤭

This cover is everything - I love this art style and am a sucker for a good cowboy romance so I had to get into this immediately and I wasn’t disappointed. another stubborn FMC with a rebellious streak and a MMC who is supposed to keep her in check but instead realizes that the best way to love her is to love every part of her 💞 yeah it was a good story and I can’t wait for more from this author!

I absolutely loved my little visit to blue river ranch and can't wait to go back. Froom broody with an attitude cowboy to all the cutesy small-town vibes, I was absolutely hooked from the start. Theres just something about a well told cowboy romance that makes you feel warm and snuggly inside. The only thing that i didn't absolutely love was I felt like there could've been more tension and emotional connection then there was.

Yep, this hit the mark!

Im currently obsessed with cowboy romances and this definitely ticked all the boxes.

Wilder is running his family ranch when his best friend's sister Rose comes to stay. Initially Wilder has no time for her, but things quickly change and their attraction is palpable.
Full of tension, just the right level of spice and an easy to read story with great side characters.

Can't wait for Dallas & Willow's story next.

3. 75 to 4 Stars!! ✨

Thank you to Roxanne Tully, Embla books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book for review. If you like Cowboy/Rancher romances with a brother’s best friend trope alongside a city girl escapes her life, this one may be for you. I would add it to your TBR.. as the moment they have their “F*ck it Moment…” you will be giggling. It is a perfect time, with summer coming up to dive in to a new universe, and Blue River Ranch is a great place to stop by.

Wild Rose, sees Rose moves from New York to a Colorado ranch after a breakup and ends up working for Wilder, the grumpy and secretive cowboy. At first, they of course clash personality wise but over time they form a connection that becomes harder to deny. Both of them are dealing with a traumatic past but slowly we watch as these two realize that they can be open and have a home together.

Rose, our FMC is our classic, enters the status quo and shakes it up only to benefit everyone else. She shows up, ready to do whatever she can, and immediately turns Wilder’s life upside down. Her bold, impulsive, and playfully sassy remarks are just on whats the surface , but there’s way more depth to her than even she lets in.

Wilder, our MMC Wilder is the grumpy, and emotionally withdrawn cowboy who is striving to do it all by carrying the weight of the ranch on his shoulders. With some family grief going on, Wilder feels like he has to step up but at the same time is drowning in a lot of tasks. Enter Wesley, the best friend with what becomes the best idea: “Hey, let’s bring my sister to help out.” Which alters Wilder’s life forever.

The spice in this one was good, and the moment that they finally give into their emotions… it is just giggle worthy. I would say that the spice is at about a 2 🌶️. As there was some moments where the heat was turned up, but it didn’t over power the entire plot. The banter between them that leads to the spice was also very well done.

Would recommend, and will be adding more of “Blue River Ranch” to my TBR.

This was such a good book. I loved the characters and I’m excited for the next book. This was the first book in the blue river springs series

Yep, this book checked every single box for me.

We’ve got Wilder (appropriately named because whew… he’s a lot)… grumpy, overworked, emotionally constipated, and carrying the weight of the ranch on his very broad, very capable shoulders. His brother Dallas is deep in grief, and Wilder’s doing his best to hold everything together. Enter Wesley, the best friend with the best (and slightly chaotic) idea: “Hey, let’s bring my sister to help out.”

Cue: Rose. The human embodiment of a whirlwind. She shows up, boots and all, and immediately turns Wilder’s tightly wound life upside down. She’s bold, impulsive, and full of sass, but there’s way more depth to her than meets the eye. And honestly? Watching her unravel Wilder’s walls was everything.

Their slow burn had me screaming and that delicious “f**k it” moment when they finally give in? Chef’s kiss.🔥 Because honestly, who doesn’t want a bossy, broody, possessive cowboy who’s been denying his feelings for way too long?

Also, can we talk about the side dishes of bar brawls, family feuds, messy drama, and just the right amount of grovelling? Absolutely here for all of it.

Cowboy romances are my ultimate comfort reads, and this one delivered all the good stuff. I’m officially obsessed and now counting down the days until we get Dallas’ story (you just know that one’s gonna hurt in the best way).

Yeehaw, y’all. Add it to your TBR. 🤠💋

I’m feeling conflicted about this book.

When Rose moves to Blue River Ranch to work for her brother's best friend for the summer, she finds a grumpy, overworked, and insanely attractive cowboy.

There were aspects of the book that I enjoyed. I loved the relationship and dialogue between Wilder and Rose. It felt very realistic and not too cringeworthy. I loved Rose's character; her impulsivity felt so real and I thought it was wonderful that her reasons for impulsivity was tied into her traumatic past.

Sadly, there were also some aspects I enjoyed a lot less. For example, I think it was much longer than it needed to be. When I was halfway through the book, it felt like the story would wrap up quickly, but I still had half a book to go.

I also understand that this is an uncorrected proof, but in all honesty, it read more like a draft that needed heavy revisions rather than a novel that was going to be published within a few days. Hopefully, the final published version will fix all these issues, including typos, formatting errors, spelling mistakes, and other document errors.

I gave this a 2 out of 5 stars because I felt zero connection between the FMC and MMC. They were rude to each other the entire first half but we, as readers, have to believe they had feelings for each other that just didn't seem there. Also, how could the MMC have moved on after that big ordeal with the FMC and ranch hands?! That whole situation was wild and unfortunately reinforced the lack of believability for me.

The description said if you like Elsie Silver, you’ll like this so of course I clicked faster than a cowboy tipping his hat. And while it definitely gave small town cowboy vibes with a grumpy x sunshine and age gap twist, it felt like it was trying a bit too hard to ride that same horse. (Pun very much intended.)

Still, I had a good time! It was a nice little palate cleanser quick, easy, and just what I needed between heavier reads. The brother’s best friend setup? Always a guilty pleasure. The chemistry, though? More like a slow spark than fireworks, but I went with it.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC and for enabling my ongoing weakness for emotionally unavailable cowboys.
