I enjoyed this story a lot. Some parts felt rushed, but I really liked all of the characters.

I wish the main characters would have communicated better, but I also think they needed that small break to realize it was more than just a summer thing. I enjoyed Rose’s wild side, and who doesn’t love a grumpy cowboy?

Such a good book! Absolutely love a cowboy/small town romance & the brothers best friend trope. This book hit all the right spots! A lovely story & great characters. The spice was perfect & didn’t feel overwhelming or forced. Loved the set up for the next books characters too!

Wild Rose is a small town romance following rancher Wilder and his best friend's sister Rose. Rose's brother Wes convinces Wilder to hire his sister for the summer at the ranch so she can have a chance to get away from NYC and reset. Rose has a reputation as a wild child who makes careless and reckless decisions, which continues when she turns up at the ranch, whereas Wilder is closed off after a past relationship. Rose has some trauma from a few years ago and Wilder talks the time to notice her, paying attention and listening. They start at first a physical relationship, then continue spending more and more time together, while keeping it secret. Almost everyone except for her brother figures it out anyway.

The book kind of reminded me of Wild Love by Elsie Silver, but instead of a single dad billionaire, the MMC is a cowboy

Cowboy x Best friends sister

- age gap
- forced proximity
- wild FMC
- grumpy MMC
- small town

Rose is a wild little thing. She's spontaneous and impulsive but emotionally in tune and a survivor of trauma from her past. When she is summoned to Blue River Ranch by her brother, Wes, because of her bad decisions, she see's it as something not so serious. Until Wilder.

Wilder, the grumpy cowboy working far to much to keep his family ranch alive. His brother stepping down from responsibilities and his father retiring, leaves him to deal with it all. Wes mentions his sister needs a job, Wilder is hesitant at first. Knowing all to well Rose's wild side. Will she be a help, or a hinderance?

I really enjoyed the push and pull between Rose and Wilder. Their miscommunication and to begin with, their lack of honesty towards each other was a part I revelled in. You just know when the chemistry is that good, when the F*** it moment comes, its going to be good. And my gosh, we had some teasers but when the moment came. It was something else!! There was a whole lot of spice, but also raw honesty and trust. It all came together really well, and made the book such a easy read.

The side characters and their storylines had development in the book which makes me really hopeful for the next in series. I hope the relationships between the family and friends remain the same.

Thank you Netgalley and Embla Books for the ARC.

Cowboy romances usually hit the spot for me. From the small town charm to that perfect mix of tension and tenderness. This one had all of that on paper: brother’s best friend, age gap, workplace, and city-girl-turned-country. But somehow, it didn’t fully land.

Wilder and Rose were likable, and the setting had that cozy, lived-in feel I always enjoy, but I never fully clicked with them. The emotional depth just wasn’t quite there for me, and a bit too much miscommunication kept pulling me out of the story.

Oddly enough, the character I found myself most curious about was Dallas. I kept wanting to follow his story instead, and by the end, that curiosity was enough to keep me hooked.

It wasn’t a standout, but it was still a quick, enjoyable read. I’m definitely planning to pick up the next one to see where things go with Dallas and Willow.

this book was fine but overall quite forgettable. The characters didn’t really have any chemistry, the side characters were bland, and the third act conflict was also ridiculous.

Oh how I love cowboy season. This is a great age gap, brother's best friend romance set in a small town. I lover the way Rose and Wilder’s relationship developed and the way they helped each other heal and become a safe space. I can’t wait to read more about Dallas and Willow!!

Rose goes to work on her brother’s best friend ranch for the summer: She constantly likes to break rule and push boundaries.

I personally struggled to connect to the characters. I found my self struggling to pick it up and want to read. However, just because I didn’t vibe with it, it doesn’t mean it’s not worth the read.

Cowboy romances, can’t stop, won’t stop🤭🤠😆

Roxanne Tully’s ‘Wild Rose’ incorporates brothers best friend, grumpy x sunshine, small-town romance and age gap into this story.

The main characters have so many layers and Tully has written them wonderfully and made me connect with their stories. I really felt for what Rose has been through and that she had been keeping it to herself for so long. Wilder had kept himself very closed off to Rose but seriously yearned for her.

It was beautiful to read how Wilder acted as a safe space for Rose so quickly, even getting annoyed with how his best friend (Rose’s brother) acts and speaks towards Rose. I also found the spice to plot ratio was bang on, none of this constant smut.

I just thought the ending was a little bit rushed with Rose forgiving them both and wish there was a little more but it was still the ending I wanted.

The book finished with a good ending with maybe some hints towards another book for Dallas and Willow (I hope so, I want to stay in Blue River Ranch a little bit longer)

Small town ✅ grumpy cowboy ✅ brothers best friend ✅ grumpy sunshine ✅

This book checked all my boxes as I am a die hard cowboy romance lover. But it just felt like the same story I’ve read 300 other times. Nothing exciting. Nothing terrible. But did I still love it? YES OF COURSE! Loved Wilder and Rose a lot. Wil I continue you on and read the next one? I mean DUH YES OF COURSE!

I loved the country vibes and the settings. Loved both MCs; Wilder and his broody cowboy vibes; Rose and her feisty, wild side. I liked Rose and Wilder together and I love how he was so attentive to her needs. I also enjoyed the banter and the tension! Although, I expected a bit more groveling and maybe a deeper heart-to-heart conversation after the third-act breakup? I felt like it seemed a liiiittle bit too easy?

Dallas bothered me a bit at the beginning, but I liked his growth throughout the book. I am really looking forward to his story (can't wait to have more of Willow too). Such a great start for a series!

Also, can we talk about the cover? It is soooo pretty. Grabbed my attention right away!!

📚✨ ARC REVIEW ✨📚
Wild Rose by @roxtully.author
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 (4.5/5 stars)

Thank you to Roxanne Tully and NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Wilder has his hands full running the family ranch solo while his brother (and co-owner) grieves the loss of his fiancée. The last thing he needs? His best friend, Wesley, calling in a favor—offering a job to his little sister. According to Wes, Rose is wild... and the idea of her as Wilder’s assistant sounds like trouble waiting to happen.

But Rose needs a fresh start. She walked away from college during her senior year, swapping her dream of being a therapist for a pursuit of art, and is carrying a secret from her past that she’s still not ready to share.

I loved this book. I’ve never thought of myself as a cowboy romance fan, but this one has me rethinking my status. The sweeping landscapes, the fresh air, the cozy cabin vibes—I want to move to Blue River and never leave 🐎🌄 (as long as I don't have to live in the spider cabin).

Rose surprised me. At first, she came off a little bratty, but once I saw her vulnerability and what she’d been through, I was all in. I admired her independence, her quiet courage, and her growth. She stood her ground against Wes and Wilder when needed and, by the end, was ready to start healing.

Wilder is the cowboy of my dreams 🤠. He carries emotional wounds from his past relationship that can only be healed by the love and trust Rose shows him (awww). He’s steady, hardworking, and loyal, picking up the slack for his grieving brother. The way he supports Rose, listens to her, and lets her be was everything.

Their relationship felt natural and well-balanced. Despite the age gap and boss/employee setup, it never felt uneven. By the end, I completely believed in them as a long-term couple.

Now don’t get me wrong I loved the premise and storyline of this book. Nothing beats a cowboy romance story. With the addition of it being best friends sister.

I did have a couple of problems with this book though. The e-pub was very messy. It was spaced out very weird and then I would get confused with who was actually talking. It was hard to overcome.

I also had a lot of trouble with all the characters. I just thought they were all terribly mean. Whether it was Rose, Wilder or Wes they would say some horrible things. Also I feel like there was a lot of misplaced anger. For example Wilder having more of a reaction after seeing some artwork Rose did in the past then when Rose literally tried to steal his horse. That just wasn’t adding up for me. He got over the horse quicker then he did the photos. That was just weird.

I did really like Dallas in the book though. Having to see him go through grief and then navigate being a single father. I think it was good development for him.

I really liked the story and the characters. Rose was really cute, lost and afraid and only needing someone to see her, appreciate her and support her on her journey, and Wilder was most definitely willing to. I did find the pacing sometimes a bit off in the beginning, but that didn’t prevent me from really enjoying the book. There were a few bits and pieces of setting for future book(s) in the series and I will definitely be reading them.

Wild Rose
Rating: 3.75/5
Spice: 2/5

Thank you to NetGalley, Embla Books, and Roxanne Tully for the e-arc in exchange for an authentic review.

Tropes:
* Cowboy x city girl
* Grumpy x sunshine
* Brother's best friend
* Age gap
* Ranch romance
* Workplace romance
* Small-town romance

The story follows Rose who is moving to Blue River Ranch for the summer with the help of her brother, Wesley. Rose is known for being wild, reckless, and making rash decisions. After dropping out of her senior year in college and deciding to pursue art, she is struggling to find her footing again. There, she works under Wilder—Welsey’s best friend and second eldest in charge of the Blue River Ranch with his brothers—a grumpy cowboy who is healing from a broken heart and trying to fill in the gaps his brother left.

Overall, I think this is a great start to a new cowboy romance! I enjoyed it a lot! I think the characters are well developed and the plot moves quickly. There were many parts in the story where I heart broke! Rose’s character is relatable in the sense that she is trying to find her footing after a terrible experience. Wilder’s character gave me a lot of whiplash (sorry). I know he’s the grumpy cowboy but after he gets angry/raises his voice at Rose, and then immediately follows her to apologize, I don’t think I was a fan of how quick she forgave him. Besides that, the way Wesley (her brother) was talking to her when he was upset, I was going to fight this man for neverrrr listening to her whenever she tried to explain. I was not a big fan of the nickname “kid sister” and I understand that that is how Wilder feels about the age gap but that just made me not like their relationship. Their ages are 22 and 31 and I felt like if he was going to constantly refer to her as that for the first 10% of the book and a few more times throughout the book, they should’ve discussed it. The timeline, maybe it was just me, had me lost at some point and I found myself rereading to make sure it flowed. With all this aside, the last 25ish% literally tore my heart out (and made me hate men LMAO I have never been so angry at the MMC before) and I ate up every moment of it.

This is my personal preference, but the way the e-pub was published was messy and made the reading experience a little difficult. A lot of the text was broken/spaced out strangely and I hope it can be fixed before the release.

I adore the side characters and throughout the entire book, I was trying to piece together who could be the next couples (and boy, was I wrong lmao). I love the element of making Dallas a single dad while he is healing from the loss of his significant other. I will be looking forward to the next releases in this series!

Cowboy romance and brother's best friend. Winning combination in my book.

This was first book by this author and I was really impressed. There was a lot of back story to be filtered through while still giving a really engaging story for Wilder and Rose. Some very serious and real themes were talked about in a sensitive and relatable way. I loved how Wilder really saw her and allowed her to be exactly who she was without any pretence, and like wise Rose felt safe with Wilder and was able to confide in him and allow him to help her open her heart.

Some great family story with Dallas and I can’t wait for his story. This book stayed with me a long after finishing reading which tells me it was something special. Very highly recommended to anyone in their cowboy era. 🤠

This story follows Wilder and Rose as they navigate a mutual attraction they know they shouldn’t act on. It’s a classic slow-burn romance—full of tension as they try to resist their feelings, knowing things could get complicated. The biggest obstacle? Rose is the younger sister of Wilder’s best friend.

Their witty banter and fiery personalities make their interactions a joy to read. Rose is fiercely independent, determined to make her own choices without being controlled by Wilder or her brother. Meanwhile, Wilder’s protective nature leads him to convince himself he’s only looking out for his friend’s sister—when it’s clear he cares deeply for Rose herself.

If you’re a fan of Lyla Sage or Elsie Silver, you’ll fall for Roxanne Tully’s small-town cowboy romance. It’s charming, fun, and will leave you completely swooning. 🤠

I received this book as an ARC. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author.
