I have read and enjoyed all the books by this author and this instalment was as good if not better than the rest. It had all the suspense in abundance . Very well written to keep you guessing throughout. Plenty of backstory and a bit of romance which I enjoy.. Really looking forward to the next offering.

A book filled with drama, suspense, corruption and a New Orleans setting which I really enjoyed reading. The characters are mixed and varied, some very interesting and some very conniving! I loved Naomi, wrongfully jailed for corruption, she is strong, fearless and quite incredible to read about. The author has done a brilliant job with this book and I absolutely thoroughly enjoyed the rollercoaster ride. Although it is part of a series, it can easily be enjoyed on it's own. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

A decent thriller that definitely had a twist at the end that I didn’t see coming but I felt that the book was too long. I really liked the story but found the cast of characters a bit difficult to keep lined up in my head and I felt like the middle sort of lost its way. I will look out for other books by the author as I liked the writing style and the premise of the story.

Naomi Cranston , an ex cop , has been freed from prison on a technicality - she had been framed !
Now they are back - either she acts as a drug mule for the people who set her up or they will "cut her son to pieces"
as they threatened before .
She would rather go back to prison than carry out their orders but needs to protect her son ...... she is no longer willing
to be a victim this time and is encourage by her boss , at the Florist shop where she works , to seek out Burke Broussard
at his Investigation Agency . He initially says no , but on hearing her story he changes his mind and promises to protect
not just her son but to also find out who had set her up and most importantly WHY ? He has secrets of his own , for he once
worked for the same Police force and resigned rather than come under the same pressures from the same people that Naomi did .
Burke sets to with all the expertise of his staff to call upon behind him but matters are soon thrown into disarray for the enemy has decided
to attack not just the adults but their children in an attempt to throw Burke off course .
Corruption is rife throughout , no one can be trusted , the pace is fast and full of twists and turns , with perhaps the hardest
betrayal of all from closer to home than could be expected .
The slow burn romance between Burke and Naomi is sweet and believable , providing strength to them both when needed
This appears to be the end of this particular arc of the Author's varied series - I do love how re-occurring characters pop up
in the different inter-connecting books
I look forward to see where she takes us next
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

One of the best books I've read this year. Many familiar characters and a totally engrossing story. Big twist ,gritty and exciting.

I loved reading it! It's set in New Orleans, which I've always wanted to visit, so I felt like I was right there. I absolutely loved the characters, and now I want more.

I really enjoyed this series. This book is suspenseful and romantic and whilst its not the most past paced, its an exciting page turner.

Knife in the Back by Karen Rose is a tense, emotional romantic suspense story. It follows Naomi, a former cop trying to rebuild her life after being wrongly imprisoned. When her past comes back to haunt her, she turns to investigator Burke for help. The story has solid twists, a strong emotional core, and plenty of drama. It’s a bit slow in places, but fans of Karen Rose or romantic thrillers will likely enjoy it. A solid read that blends danger, redemption, and heart. The characters are easy to root for, and the mix of action and emotional healing gives the book real depth. While the pacing may not be for everyone, the payoff is worth it.
Thankyou so much netgalley and headline for the gifted arc .
