Her debut novel was an overnight success but now Poe is struggling to meet the deadline for her second book. Hopefully two weeks on a remote island resort with her best friend will cure her writers block. That dream is quickly shattered when a group of armed women storm the resort. Poe and Zwe have to work quickly to evade capture and return home safely.
An adventure novel for the romance lovers. The thriller girlie in me was beyond excited by this ofc. It gets a little dark, TW kidnapping and violence but still reads like a romance novel. I don’t know how she managed that but safe to say I’m impressed.
The perfectionist in me wishes that there was a little more heat and maybe a chapter or two from Zew’s pov.
I had a lot of fun reading this one and I’m already regretting leaving I did something bad on my tbr for so long.

This is a fantastic best friends to lovers read. It’s so action packed, intense and incredibly fun. I loved Poe and Zwe’s squabbles so much, Five stars. Thank you to the author, publisher ana NetGalley for the opportunity to read an ARC.

This was a fun change from a standard romcom so I was excited to pick it up! I enjoyed following Poe and Zwe but I didn't feel that their relationship jumped off the pages for me - it would have been more fun if they had remained best friends. But overall, a fun premise and a heap of angst!

This book was fine - I found it difficult to connect with the main character, who wasn’t particularly likeable, and the romance with Zwe was a touch clunky in places. But overall the book is a solid 3 stars, and is a diverting read.

I received this as an arc from NetGalley and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This was a miss for me, it was my first time reading a book by the author and the cover and blurb really had me hoping for something great. But it just didn’t happen. I really didn’t like Poe and I didn’t feel like she had any chemistry with Zwe. The mystery storyline felt off and it just didn’t work for me. The ending was nice but as a whole the story just wasn’t for me.

Despite the blurb making this book sound like an action packed romance with a healthy dose of danger, I actually found it to be very slow. Nothing good actually happens until more than half way in, and Poe is a nightmare whom I did not like. However, it was redeemed slightly by that ending - the last 25% or so is what I had hoped the whole book would be!

A light hearted, totally far fetched, but enjoyable rom com with the theme of best friends to lovers. What sets it apart is the scenario, a luxury resort on a far flung island. The story moves quite slowly, as Poe is constantly examining her repressed relationship with Zwe. What should have been a relaxing luxury break turns into a dangerous nightmare. However, the banter between the two friends continues throughout the potentially deadly situation. This does keep the tone light and humorous, but also prevents the build up of suspense that you would normally expect from such a plot. Who exactly are the attackers? How dangerous are they? Who can be totally trusted? And, almost more importantly to Poe, is Zwe falling for the attractive staff member, Leila? This is an original novel, that I enjoyed. A good summer holiday read.

After being invited to read this book, i dropped everything and started straight away. This book had everything from romance, action and thrill. This was so refreshing and i cannot wait for more!

✨4 stars✨
This was such a fast-paced read! I literally sat down to read it and ended up finishing it in one go in a few hours! (Granted I haven’t really got much else to do other than read this thanks to Storm Floris😂). That being said, take nothing away from the book as this was a thoroughly entertaining read.
Was it a tiny bit cliche and predictable? Sure but sometimes that’s just the kind of book you need! Especially as I didn’t read the description so I thought this was just going to be a destination romance book! Thankfully the plot offered so much more and I would recommend.
I look forward to seeing what this author publishes in the future (as this is the first one I’ve read by her) and going back and reading her other book currently out.
