I picked up Spiritual Gifts by Sam Storms thinking it would be a helpful overview—but it ended up shaking some of my long-held assumptions. I’ve always been a bit cautious (okay, skeptical) when it comes to the sign gifts—prophecy, tongues, healing, you name it. But Storms walks through Scripture with such clarity, humility, and thoughtful exegesis that I found myself pausing more than once and thinking, “Huh. I’ve never considered it that way before.”

He doesn’t just toss out theology to debate it—he roots everything in the Word and invites you to wrestle with it alongside him. And while I may not agree with every interpretation, I found his perspective both honoring to Scripture and surprisingly pastoral. It’s not just a theological deep dive—it’s practical, too. He spends time explaining how the gifts can and should function in the local church today, and he does it without hype or fear.

If you’ve ever felt unsure or overwhelmed about the role of spiritual gifts—or if, like me, you’ve felt a little boxed in by your own tradition—this is a book worth reading with an open Bible and an open heart.
