a powerful book that brings us to the world of Chris who is struggling to find his place in the world he now finds himself in. but he soon finds thing, things to hold on to like his music and new friendships. his journey felt like one many of us can relate to or at least in parts so i thought that was incredibly well written and also make you care for the characters more. and as we meet Victor and Jimmy to the picture the bond is something i loved reading about. i was rooting for them as individual but also this friendship they had created.
the mixture of the highs and light never felt over bearing but neither did it cover it with cliches or lessen what they went through. and at the end i still through it all came out feeling uplifted or even slightly inspired by it all and the feelings it gave me. its such a lovely and moving story and it was one i was willing for a second not to go for. and something in me told me "no you want to read this" and indeed i did. im so glad i trusted my reading gut.
the friend group were the bonus beyond beating hearted world to this book ive not read something quite so wonderfully wholesome in long time.

Finding Horizons is a powerful and moving story about a teen named Chris who’s struggling to find his place in a new world, far from the familiarity of his Southern hometown. What really struck me was how relatable his journey felt—navigating loneliness, heartbreak, and identity, all while discovering the healing power of music and friendship. The bond between Chris, Victor, and Jimmy had me rooting for them like they were real-life friends. I appreciated how the book didn’t sugarcoat the struggles, but still left me feeling hopeful and inspired. I couldn’t put it down because I wanted to see Chris win—not just in music, but in life.

Okay listen—Finding Horizons is like the mixtape I didn’t know I needed. 🎧 Chris is awkward, lost, and kinda heartbroken—and I loved every second of watching him stumble into this unexpected hip-hop trio that somehow makes magic out of pain. It’s got teen drama, raw emotion, epic beats, and a friend group that totally gave me goosebumps. If you’ve ever felt like an outsider or needed a fresh beat to get through the mess of life, this one’s for you. I laughed, I vibed, I maybe cried (once, okay?). Get this book. Mic drop. 🎤✨
