This dual biography tells the intertwined stories of Angelica Kauffman and Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun, two groundbreaking 18th-century woman artists. Set against the backdrop of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution, it explores their remarkable careers—navigating fame, scandal, and exile, and their impact on art and feminism.
I love this book. It’s fascinating and beautifully written, with gorgeous illustrations. Unfortunately, the ARC is formatted in a way that makes it difficult to read using text-to-speech.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
