This was quite a sweet, easy read. I really liked Hope and Anna’s friendship and also the troubles Hope was having with her career and her identity wrapped up in that. I really didn’t like Julia, she was selfish and pretentious and I think the author wrote her well. I wasn’t a fan of the scene with the chickens and as a vegetarian I found this a bit triggering- it might be worth some trigger warnings for this content? I also found the messages and lack of punctuation made it harder to follow so I hope this is resolved for the final copy.

This book is for anyone interested in LGBTQIAP+ romances with a tarot card influence. Hope, the main character, is 6 months out from a breakup she hasn’t moved on from when she receives the invite to her ex girlfriends wedding. She is, understandably, very upset. To add insult to injury she has been asked to play in a band at the wedding.
Some character descriptions and FMC insights were laugh out loud funny while others fell flat to the point I needed to reread them and was pulled out of the story. With clumsy dialogue and page long paragraphs in between, this book was a struggle for me to read and never gave me the chance to fall in love with any of the characters. One detail, “the squish fish,” which held a surprisingly big role in the book, felt confusing and overused. Overall, this book was not for me.

All in all, the book didn't blow me away. But I'm sure others will like it... so if you like the supernatural and romance, then you should read it for yourself. :)

The blurb sounded so good and interesting. The combination of romance and magic—doesn't that sound wonderful? But somehow I couldn't warm to the author's writing style and couldn't connect with the story. It was written in such a confusing way in parts and jumped back and forth in time, so that I sometimes really lost track and didn't know whether it was the present or the past. I also didn't find the connection between romance and the supernatural/magic that great. On the other hand, Ruby was so lovely and I really hoped that she and Hope would get together.

All in all, the book didn't blow me away. But I'm sure others will like it... so if you like the supernatural and romance, then you should read it for yourself. :)

HOWEVER this could absolutely be my life slump towing and i’d never want to dissuade anyone if this sounds up your alley!
