Wow. We've all heard about people pulling themselves up by their bootstraps. Jacob Lozada and his friends didn't have bats and balls to play with, so they made them. His mother had a phobia about worms; because one of her first jobs was pulling worms from tobacco leaves and getting paid pennies by the cup (of worms). still gives me the creeps. :/
Author Jacob Lozada is in his 80's. Kudo's for writing your memoir so that your accomplishments can be preserved and remembered by your family! In each of your roles from a youngster, through elementary school/high school, into college and the armed forces and even after retirement, you continually performed at the highest level.
Many thanks to NetGalley, author Jacob Lozada and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op / Boricua Legacy Books for approving my request to read the advance review copy of Puerto Rico to the White House: A Memoir of Possibilities and Persistence in exchange for an honest review. Sept 15, 2025 publication date. Approx 220 pages.
Adding to NetGalley review, but omitting from GoodReads ... at some point I started wondering if Jacob Lozada had any conflicts or things go wrong. Kind of had a feeling that his first marriage was going to not work as he never mentioned his wife's name and there weren't any pictures. There were a lot of accolades and wonderful commendations. At some point it gets a little old ONLY hearing how wonderful someone is. Even Jesus lost his temper with the money changers. Hence 4 stars vs 5.
