What a gorgeous children's book this is (and as an adult whose favourite animal is an elephant I enjoyed it as much as my various 6 grandchildren did).
The story is full of finding somewhere that feels like home and the little elephant goes through various stages of realising that home and love and safety is where your family are.
Beautiful illustrations too, and a book that will definitely be read and enjoyed again and again.

A good story which I had seen when in hardback, wanted to check it out again. A story of a baby/child elephant with their herd, struggling to figure out their place and wondering why they were on the move, wanting to feel they have a home. It follows though situations with family until the child becomes lost, found, and realising they already have a 'home'.
Good simple story about belonging with bright and distinctive artwork.

This is probably one of the cutest and most adorable stories with illustrations I have ever read! My ovaries couldn't cope haha.
My daughters love elephants and keep asking to read it to them again and again so I will definitely need to get a copy for their bookshelf as I can see this is going to be a firm favourite,

Our family read this book twice with some time in-between and enjoyed it very much.
A little elephant has some questions about life - home, family, belonging.
The answer is heartwarming.
Stunning illustrations too.

This book is absolutely beautiful! All of the illustrations, front cover, colour theme and story are heart warming. I particularly loved the speech from the grandmother. This is a wonderful story and I will be purchasing this for my classroom.

Stephen Hogtun is ann incredible artist / illustrator and this latest book ,” Herd” continues to show his stunning and emotive work.
This is the story of a young elephant travelling with the herd but not knowing how he fits in and where his home. This is a beautiful story of love and belonging and knowing that home is where the heart and family is. Each time the elephant discovers he cannot join in or do something independently, the family show their love and support.
Ideal for children up to six - perfect as a warm hearted bedtime read or a class book exploring habitats and animals in EYS and KS1 .
The illustrations will encourage plenty of talk as will the emotions of the little elephant
This is an absolute winner .Highly recommended and do check out Stephen Hogtun’s other books Deep and Leaves
