Yule Need a Drink is a December holiday themed cocktail recipe book. The vast majority of the recipes are for batch drinks, but there are some that are single servings as well as a variety of syrups. The names of the cocktails are generally cute/tongue in cheek but do focus on the more negative/stressed aspects of the holiday season. Regardless of the name, you can make these drinks at any time of the year (although I personally would not drink the hot drinks except in the middle of winter). I enjoyed the writing and the lighthearted poking fun of some of the stressful events/people you're likely to encounter during the holidays. I was; however, a bit disappointed in the drink recipes. Many of them were just renamed or dressed up versions of drinks that I've already had. Sure, if you aren't used to transforming single drink recipes into batch recipes, this may be incredibly helpful for you but that isn't something I need. Also, I don't like wine and red wine specifically tends to give me migraines and there are a lot of recipes that are red wine based. That said, there are several recipes that I liked or was interested in trying but not enough that I would want this in a hardback version - which is what always happens with recipe books that I use frequently.

If you ever need a way to be able to cope with Christmas, then this is the book for you! There is a bunch of delightful cocktail recipes in here, with even more fun names. Personally, I will be having the Mocha Me Forget My Family Drama after I get home from Christmas dinner with my family.
Thanks to NetGalley and The Editors of Cider Mill Press for an advanced copy of this book! It will be put to great use.

This book is pure holiday joy! The cocktails are amazing and make me smile just from their names like “Nog Yourself Out”, “When My In-Laws A-Knocking”, and my favorite “Jingle Juice Sangria”! The photography is absolutely stunning. Flipping through the pages instantly put me in the holiday spirit, and I can already see myself reaching for this book year after year to make gatherings with friends and family extra festive.

Don’t let the Christmas vibes of the book fool you—the ideas can be used any time of the year. The fun nicknames for the drinks will always give a kick to your holiday spirit. There’s a drink for every situation you might find yourself in: family going apeshit in the kitchen over a dinner that should’ve been ready hours ago, all the fast-food restaurants closed, and nothing left but DoorDash. Grab some dry white wine, a handful of seedless grapes, and make yourself a Sleigh My Sanity until dinner is finally served.

Thank you to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Tis the season to be merry and bright and have a few cocktails! Cider Mill Press has returned with a holiday cocktail book that will have everyone seeing Santa. This boozy spirits book is the perfect addition for the holiday hosts. Most of the recipes are portioned for larger batch options with a few that can be made individually. Each cleverly titled recipe includes an ingredient list, instructions and an enticing photo. The ingredients are fairly standard with some fun simple syrups (recipes included) thrown in. They are not the standard cocktails, these add fun and unique twists to classic drinks. I definitely recommend this book for your next holiday party!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This book is going to be my Christmas companion to get me through the season. The cocktail and chapter titles are so fun and festive although I think I may get a few funny looks handing a glass over and saying fancy a ‘I’d Rather Be Home With My Dog’. All the drinks sound amazing and I even like the festive twists on the classics. I appreciate that there’s a photo with each so I have serving/styling ideas which will likely come in more than helpful after drinking a few of these. Christmas time can’t come soon enough now to get properly stuck into these.

i absolutely loved Yule Need a Drink! It could quickly become my go-to holiday sidekick: part cocktail companion, part festive cheer-spreader. Whether hosting a cozy get-together or just relaxing by the fire with some twinkle lights on, this book has the perfect drink for the occasion.
It’s packed with whimsical, creative recipes; some are totally new, while others are clever twists on holiday classics that make every gathering feel a little more magical (and a lot more fun). The playful tone and festive spirit throughout the book made it a joy to flip through and will make any holiday gathering even more fun.
If you're looking to shake up your holiday traditions with something merry and bright, I highly recommend Yule Need a Drink. It’s a must-have for anyone who loves the holidays, good company, and a great cocktail
A big thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this advance copy—what a delightful read!

I am absolutely sure there’s an audience for this.
I missed the memo where most of it is for people who DON’T enjoy the holiday season.
There’s a few fun names in there that aren’t about being incredibly depressed or just hating joy, but majority of the drink names center on being upset.
It’s not for me

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book; it was highly informative. I will certainly recommend it to others. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC.

Fun and entertaining, this is a must-have for anyone who is a fan of crafting drinks for the holidays! I enjoyed how upbeat this book was and how all the drinks have fun names. The sidebars or special ingredients is very smart and adds a lot to this recipe collection.

This is a truly beautiful book, it is visually spectacular with some stunning cocktail photography and a lot of stunning festive cocktails. Each cocktail is given a witty seasonal theme and gentle humour flows through the book. The cocktails themselves are wonderfully varied so regardless of personal preferences something will be sure to please. I made one of the recipes 'Dont wine, it's Christmas' and found it to be easy to make, tasty and deliciously potent!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

Five stars! Yule Need a Drink is the holiday survival guide I didn't know I needed. As a teacher, December is a special kind of chaos, a beautiful nightmare of glitter, sugar-fueled teens, and carols that have been stuck in my head since the end of November. This book isn't just a collection of festive cocktails; it's a lifeline. It's the literary equivalent of that first blissful sip of something strong after the last bell rings for winter break.
The recipes are fantastic, but the real magic is in the humor. The author gets it. They understand the unique brand of exhaustion that comes from explaining for the hundredth time that, no, you can't eat the glue stick, it's for the gingerbread house craft. I laughed out loud so many times I'm pretty sure my neighbors think I've finally lost it.
If you're a teacher, do yourself a favor. Buy this book. Get a shaker. And prepare for a holiday season that's merry, bright, and slightly less likely to end with you hiding in the supply closet. You've earned it!

This is fun little book with great festive drinks recipes for the holiday season no matter the situation.

I have been searching for a book like this for YEARS for my holiday parties. Stuffed full of seasonal drinks - with seasonal sassy names - this cocktail guide is more than just your recipe list. It is a full-on holiday therapist. With sections talking about surviving your family and wishing you were anywhere but here (there's a drink coined "I wish I stayed home with my dog"), this humorous take on yuletide mixers will leave you laughing, even when you want to cry.
