I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Daisy Dolittle: The Koala Caper is the second book in the Daisy Dolittle series and is a short chapter book for children all about (you guessed it) a young descendant of Dr Dolittle (who could talk to animals).
I've not read book one, but this book can be read as a standalone and doesn't bring up anything from book 1, which I believe means you could read these in any order.
Daisy is the daughter of a movie star mum who's off on set in Australia filming her new film. Daisy's there with her minder and pet guinea pig when a mystery unfolds. Daisy's soon on the case to discover who is sabotaging the set and the movie and why. As Daisy comes across potential suspects, we meet a cute koala and a kookaburra who help her to solve the case.
This was a fun and entertaining read and had some fun illustrations spotted through the book to accompany the story. The mystery wasn't obvious to solve, either making it even more fun to try and unravel for the reader.

Daisy Dolittle is the star of a new chapter book series. As a descendent of the famous Dr. Dolittle, Daisy has inherited the ability to talk to animals. I admit that I am a sucker for stories where the main character can talk to animals. As a child I spent hours trying to get our barn cats to talk to me.
Daisy's mom is an actor. Daisy and her pet guinea pig, Milo, travel to Australia to be with her Mom as she films a movie with a cute robot costar. They meet a real koala named Cuddles who is fascinated by the movie filming. Several accidents on set make Daisy suspect that someone is sabotaging the movie. Daisy is determined to find the culprit before someone gets hurt.
Daisy and Milo make a delightful pair of detectives. I think this will be a successful series, popular with kids who love mystery and/or animals.

Here is a cute illustrated chapter book that is the second in a series to feature Daisy. Readers quickly are drawn in as they learn that ten year old Daisy, a descendant of Dr. Dolittle, can communicate with animals and is a detective!
There is a cute illustrated list of characters and then the story begins. There are six fun chapters in which to spend time with Daisy who is on a movie set with her mother as the story opens. Lots happens from there.
I think that this title is perfect for its intended audience. I am certain that I would have loved it when I was around ages 8 to 10.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing for this title. All opinions are my own.

Thank you so much to Arcturus Publishing and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
Daisy Doolittle can talk to animals, just like her ancestors. She’s on a fancy trip in Australia with her movie star mother. But things on set aren’t going to plan, things keep getting sabotaged. With help from her new animals friends Daisy is determined to solve the mystery and save the movie.
What an amazing and fun adventure this was, I really enjoyed reading it. It was so much fun mixing a movie set, with the animals and all the drama and mystery going on. Daisy was a great protagonist she was so patient and kind with the animals, she was great at being a detective trying to solve things but also not drawing any attention to herself whilst she did it. She was really likeable and very sweet, which is really wonderful.
The mystery itself was so much fun, it wasn’t obvious, but it was wonderful reading as new things were found out and trying to piece it all together. I liked how it was solved and all was revealed. You constantly are left wondering which character did it and why they did it, so I liked how it unfolded a little at a time.
The book had great illustrations, I adored seeing all the pictures especially when Cuddles was in them, he was the cutest Koala and always made the scenes better. What wonderful addition to the story he was, readers will just adore him so much. Also let’s mod to cute Milo too, who popped up out of Daisy’s pocket regularly.
I really enjoyed this book it had so many fun enticing features to it, from a mystery to solve, to cute and funny animals and a girl that can talk to them, to a movie set and movie stars, to a great adventure in Australia. This is a great book for young readers and I know they’ll really enjoy this series.

A sweet, fast paced adventure mystery with a witty little detective called Daisy (a relative of the infamous Dr. Doolittle) and her unique ability to talk to animals.
The Koala Caper highlights everything Australiana about making a film on home soil, complete with inquisitive talking animals, Daisy and Bartlebys wits and eye for solving a mystery and bringing the guilty party to justice- bush style.
I enjoyed this short story and look forward to other books by this author.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Arcturus Publishing for the arc of this cute story.
