I received this as an ARC from NetGalley.

I have just finished this, and I enjoyed it. With the author being a former Dallas Cheerleader she has an amazing insight into the world of Dallas cheerleaders and the footballers.

The book is an easy read, interesting and keeps you guessing on what's going on.

Big, bright, brash and bold. Death of a Cheerleader makes us truly consider what it takes to be at the pinnacle of your career, and what lengths people will go to remain on top.

a unique and fun read with lots of mystery and intriguing characters to get stuck into. i've not read anything around cheer leading clubs like this so it was an original take on it. it feels like a refresher read as its not to heavy but not too light but is still a good read to get all the bits you need from the mystery thriller type.
this book tells the story of a Cheerleader group the Dallas Lonestars when one of their best Jentry Randall is found dead in the locker room things don't look too good. its clear there is more to this and suspicions look on to her best friend who is also a cheerleader.
Nikki has been asked originally to make a film on the cheerleaders after they were having a tough time of it and to create a buzz around their potential comeback. but this is something way bigger and better and so she dives right in to investigation and reporting on the murder. the suspicious directions towards Shaunette the best friend though is soon questioned when she is run off the road and left for dead. so is someone actually trying to get rid of the whole team? because if everyone wants to be a Dallas Cheerleader then would someone kill to do so?
i had a really great time reading this book. it felt really different for me. it was quirky and fun. it was light in all the right places but still garnered that emotional touch you also need from a book like this. there was exciting parts and witty parts. then the darker parts never overwhelmed or went in to too depressing. it was a light thriller but i say that in a good way.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for this ARC.

I rated this 3 ⭐️. It was a light, thriller with a murder mystery aspect.

Dallas Lonestars Cheerleader Jentry Rae Randall is found murdered in the squad’s locker room shortly after she has fallen out with her bestfriend Shaunette Simmons who is also a Dallas Lonestars Cheerleader.

Nikki a filmmaker who is hired by the team to do a documentary on the team’s potential comeback however she finds herself diving straight into reporting on a murder investigation.

All eyes are on Shaunette, but when she is ran off the road it’s clear that there’s something bigger going on. Everyone wants to be a Dallas Lonestars Cheerleader. But what will they do to get there?!

I enjoyed this book and the character’s within. This is written in third person which I don’t normally enjoy however this made for a great read.

If you are looking for an easy read thriller as a little palette cleanser this is the book for you.

Thank you NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for this eARC in exchange of my honest opinion.

This is an easy and light mystery. As someone who has read a lot of great thrillers and some not so great ones, this falls somewhere in the midrange for me.

I really tried to get into this book but I found it hard going
I am obviously not the target audience.

2.75 stars rounded up. This is more the chicklit ballpark of crime, which isn’t my usual fare, so it would be unfair to compare it to Poirot style books. It’s a light crime mystery, written by a former professional cheerleader so the detail and scene setting definitely feels accurate and helps create a picture for the reader. Overall if you’re looking for a light easy read mystery in a different field than usual, this will tick the box.

I received a free ARC copy of this via NetGalley and the publishers in return for an unbiased review.

In Death of a Cheerleader Jentry Rae Randall captain of the cheerleading squad for the Dallas Lonestars and all around American sweetheart is found bludgeoned to death in the locker room. Nikki Keegan just so happens to be making a documentary about the team and decides to cash in on the true crime money by making a murder doc. She turns to Jentry’s ex best friend Shaunette for information but Shaunette has her own secrets and is soon under threat. This should have been good but it just wasn’t. I think most its problems stem from the narrative style, it third person and so the characters are held at arms length and facts are reported to the reader sometimes repeatedly. There are too many suspects and not enough investigation, clues are found and just dropped with no explanation . Nikki barrel questions anyone, things just drop into her lap. And everybody has at least one dead or dying parent, it’s relentless. The author also makes up words that I’m pretty sure are made up and there was definitely a thesaurus involved that often made for clunky, over complicated sentences that should have been picked up by an editor. Over all disappointing.

This was such a fun novel! I’m not usually into thrillers but this looked to interesting not to pass up! I really enjoyed that it came from a professional cheerleader perspective. I thought it had a good interesting mystery to it and I really enjoyed the pace and found it kept my interest!
