The story was great for a quick romance read. The plot moved quickly while the characters had facets to their personalities. I enjoyed the force proximity and the romance blossoming due to that.

eh. I REALLY need to start reading synopses of books I request on netgalley and not just automatically requesting it because it's queer. this is definitely not my type of book which is why I'm gonna refrain from giving a star rating.

the reason it's not my type of book? it's not the sapphic or the arranged marriage or the novella or the fake romance to real, no it's the BILLIONAIRES.

WHY ARE WE STILL WRITING AND READING BOOKS ABOUT BILLIONAIRES?!

now I have literally no excuse because the fact that it's a billionaire romance is in the summary but I'm still mad about it. I'm gonna say this with my whole chest, BILLIONAIRES ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND. they aren't realistic, they aren't good people, and there is no level of romanticizing a billionaire that I will ever be able to get behind.

what I don't understand is why authors don't just make their characters millionaires. it's much more reasonable and I could maybe support that. but billionaire? nah.

anyway, I also didn't like the characters or their romance so I guess this loss is on me. in my opinion, save your time and skip this one.

i was really excited to read impossible match bc it felt like a totally different vibe compared to rochelle wolf's other books, which i've utterly enjoyed. i haven't really read any billionaire romance (mostly by choice) but i was curious to see how the author would handle it given how much i liked their previous works.

however, i kept wishing it was longer the entire time. 😭 it wasn't a bad story by any means, but i really felt it would have benefited from being a full-length novel. the characters, especially ingrid, didn't get the space they deserved to be fully fleshed out. i genuinely wanted to connect with the characters more, but with the limited pages, it felt like we just skimmed the surface. as a couple, cecilia and ingrid struggled to navigate their new married life, and while those moments were interesting, i found the emotional connection between them a bit hit-or-miss. sometimes it clicked, but other times it felt rushed or underdeveloped.

on the positive side, the writing style is warm and accessible, and there were moments of genuinely fun banter that kept the story engaging. the arranged marriage trope was handled in a sweet and cozy way that i appreciated. if you're looking for a quick, light sapphic romance that's easy to breeze through, this is a nice pick.

as for the audiobook, the narration was okay. tbh, at first i was really contemplating ditching it and just sticking with the ebook bc, for some reason, the narration didn't help me fully connect with the story the way audiobooks usually do. but eventually, it grew on me. a quick listen if you prefer audio.

thank you, rochelle wolf, for the e-arc. and thanks to netgalley and victory editing netgalley for the alc!

I really wanted to love this, but unfortunately it just missed the mark for me. The characters weren’t fleshed out, and Ingrid was honestly kind of boring. It can be difficult to capture the essence of characters in a novella, and I feel this story would have been better as a full length novel. At its current length, it just doesn’t work for me.

Thank you to NetGalley, Aurora Inkwell Media, and the author for the ARC!

The audio for this is gorgeous. The narrator did a wonderful job, and I found it so very enjoyable to listen to them.
My only gripe is that the story itself didn't go longer - I would've loved a full sized book of this.
Excellent work!

Rochelle Wolf’s Impossible Match is a captivating short story that proves a love story doesn’t have to be long to be powerful. With a unique plot, perfectly balanced tension, and just the right touch of spice, this story pulls readers in quickly and doesn’t let go until the very last page.

What makes this story stand out is the chemistry between the characters. The tension simmers from the start, building in a way that feels both natural and deeply satisfying. Wolf crafts their connection with care—every glance, every word, every moment of hesitation serves to heighten the anticipation until the two finally fall into each other in a way that feels both inevitable and completely earned.

The pacing is tight and well-executed, making this a story you can enjoy in one sitting while still feeling fully immersed in the romance. Wolf manages to pack in emotion, conflict, and passion without ever feeling rushed, which speaks to her ability to craft compelling characters and an engaging narrative within a shorter format.

For readers who enjoy romance that blends heartfelt emotion with a dash of spice, Impossible Match is a delightful and satisfying read. It’s a reminder that sometimes the most powerful love stories are the ones that cut straight to the heart, and Rochelle Wolf delivers exactly that.

Thank you for Rochelle wolf via NetGalley for approving me for this audio arc - except I’m not listening to it because me behind in arcs literally has me out here buying the audiobook to listen to it so I can rate and review it . I dont usually do this !! - i usually read the arc copy but anyways lets goo

- this is a sapphic billionaire romance - arranged marriage novella !! Now I love sapphic books - whenever I read lgbtqia+ books that aren’t mf couples where one or both are part of the lgbtqia+ community- I read sapphic books - I’m a sapphic book girlie . I love seeing women fall in love and be together - it’s hot & sweet and truly women are just superior let’s be real!!

This was a fun book - nothing mind blowing but I enjoyed it and it was fun !!

This was my first book by this author

Cecilia is a lesbian and Ingrid is bisexual ( the fmcs)

This book has “my wife” in and I love that trope so much . And this is a she falls first book.

This is set in Canada like a few of my recent reads !!! I always love books set in Canada !!! For some reason .

This is a sapphic socialite arranged marriage novella that get straight to the point without a lot of frill. Our two MCs both choose this pairing for their own reasons and it’s so sweet watching it all unfold. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. My only complaint was the narrator. The affect of one of the MCs was very robotic and unenjoyable. All and all very cute and a fun read!

Thank you to NetGalley for the audioARC copy in exchange for an honest review

Hot and steamy, but with very little plot and almost no character development. If you are looking for a short, sexy story then this might be for you. If however, you are looking for sapphic romance I might would skip this one.

This was a quick and delicious treat, I love a good ah quick feel good fluffy novella and Wolf delivered it to me in a hot sapphic platter.
I'm obsessed with Ingrid and Cecilia tbh they're both the softest lover girls everand I'm very much here for it.
Ingrid is the embodiment of looks like they could kill you is a cinnamon roll and Cecilia well what more can I say than that I'm as inlove with her as Ingrid is.

Gotta say the narration could have improved while I liked that it was clear when we were hearing who's pov I think the narrator sometimes felt a bit mechanical/robotic-ish

This is a quick Sapphic arranged marriage. Sometimes you just don't click with a narrator I pushed through since it's a short listen but I couldn't fully let myself enjoy it. May try just reading it.

Not my cup of tea unfortunately. I didn't like how this was narrated- both narrators were very sterile and I didn't connect with them or their characters.

Spice Level: 1/5 Fade to Black / Open Door

Ingrid Gordon is a Toronto socialite / influencer who enters into an arranged marriage because of familial obligations. She enters into an arranged marriage with Cecilia Friedman. Cecilia is a techie, a star on the rise in the tech world. She is pressured by her grandmother to enter into the arranged marriage with Ingrid.

I listened to this book as an audiobook via NetGalley. Unfortunately, this book just kind of fell flat for me. The build up to this book coming out that this was going to be a decently spicy arranged marriage. Even the cover alludes to there being a relationship between the two characters having an intense connection. This is not what the book delivered. Once the characters were married, there was a lot of mutual pining and that is pretty much the whole book. The one thing that confused me was that after Ingrid and Cecilia were married, they should have been able to open up to each other and share their feelings for one another but it’s like both of them refused to open up.

The narration for this book was meh. I don’t know if it was the story itself or a combination of the story and the narrator but it was hard to keep my attention. Especially for it being a novella, they’re usually faster paced, even if it is a “slow burn.” This novella seemed to move along at a slow pace and it seemed like it was a full length book and not a novella.

Never judge a book by its cover… I had high hopes for this book as I’m a sucker for a great illustrated cover, but it didn’t pan out for me. While I liked both Cecelia and Ingrid independently, everything about them together and their interactions was so off. So much “but I shouldn’t!” when talking about her literal spouse, then ILYs when they’ve spoken about a dozen words to each other. Just rang empty for me.
And I felt the narrator was far too technical with her pronunciation, making it feel formal and not natural; plus more than a couple mispronounced words threw me off.

This was an unconventional arranged marriage- we’ve got sapphic billionaires from Toronto. I didn’t quite get why it had to be an arranged situation and, for a short book, there was a lot of miscommunication and hemming/hawing. But once things kicked in, I very much enjoyed it!

When I first requested this book, I was intrigued by a modern-day arranged marriage and thought the story would be about how the characters fell in love leading up to the actual marriage. While what we got is still a very cute story, there were times when I couldn't get fully immersed in the romance of it all. Maybe it's just because I'm not used to reading short stories/novellas, but I felt like I was missing out on so much of the behind-the-scenes information, or even that the romance was way too fast. I also can't help but feel annoyed that all but four (as far as I'm aware) were revealed to be members of the LGBTQIA in some sort of fashion. While I went into this story looking for a cute queer romance, what I got was an influx of it from nearly every character, which isn't realistic in my mind.

The story also seemed to be lacking an actual hurdle for the characters to need to face together in order for them to know fully that they wanted to be together until the end of time. Their relationship wasn't tested in the slightest, and when it felt like it might, it was just swept under the rug as if it didn't matter, even though one character wanted to be very private about her personal life while the other was used to her life being on every magazine.

While the story is cute and I did enjoy parts of it, I can't say I'm dying for a reread.

I feel like this easily could have been a full-length novel. I liked the story, but it felt incredibly rushed and not overly believable for how fast everything happens.

I wanted to love this! Bi4bi contemporary instalove, arranged marriage, short and horny!

However, this really didn't feel to have any depth or chemistry between the leads. Two extremely wealthy women, a couple outings together, boom love and a horny scene or two. End of book.

The narration was also unfortunate with one of the voices feeling so robotic and unnatural for one of the heroines.

Bummed! But was a short and quick listen.

This was a fun little sapphic romance with a hint of spice, and authentic, likeable characters. At around two hours (or 115 pages) this was a super quick listen, perfect for a little refresher between standard length books or to get you out of a slump.

Cecilia + Ingrid were well developed characters, for such a short story, and I loved the healthy communication between them + how considerate they were to one another and their enforced situation.

The plot was well fleshed out and believable, the spice was done well + the pacing was steady. The only thing I wasn’t keen on was the narrator (sorry!) who verged on robotic + made it hard to tell the two characters apart, but I am super fussy on narration!

Otherwise a fun, quick little read!

This book was an interesting short read since it was a novella. I do feel more could be put into the storyline to make it a full novel but it was good for a short story as it is. I do feel the one character could have been expressed a little better I felt she was more monotone in the audiobook. but I guess that's how she came off. definitely different take on arrange marriage being it is a sapphic love story and same sex marriage but a great idea. How one family excepted it vs how the other is split.
